"But Microsoft's Drake said Lindows.com's online process makes it too easy to make a claim".
But they omitted the rest of his comment (also here): "[comma] making it more likely that people without legitimate claims will file.".
Heh, that reminds me of some movie ads, where they show quotes from magazines like "Brilliant!", but they omit the rest that goes "It was brilliant the way the director blew it with this piece of crap. Just brilliant!".
Norway is one of the most beautiful places on earth I'd say.. and I'm swedish..
I visited Sweden and Norway last year... they are great countries to live!! Beautiful, exotic women (from my latino point of view), and everything works!!!
(Sorry for being offtopic, but, hey, the whole thread is).
This is part of a war against Slashdot. I think it's kind of extremist, but it's amusing anyways. Google the net for "anti slashdot".
Yes, and the poster also needs to learn the difference between the Web and the Internet.
Not only him. The guys at Nielsen//NetRatings need to learn that as well. From the article:
"It's become harder to distinguish when you're on the Internet, blurring the lines between what's sitting on the desktop and what's coming from the World Wide Web."
This guy states that Internet is the World Wide Web, and also that the World Wide Web is the only purpose for the Internet to exist. I find it really irritating.
This is a little bit offtopic, but you were right. The correct way is "Donde esta Cecilia?" for "Where is Cecilia?". You say "adonde" a) When pointing a place the subject is going to: "A donde va Cecilia?" ("Where is Cecilia going?"). b) As an adverb, indicating a place: "Cecilia esta adonde estuvo ayer" ("Cecila is where she was yesterday").
I was going to tell you that that was too much information. But then I admit that sometimes I come with pretty neat solutions to programming problems during my visit to the toilet. Maybe Billy G. did the same? X-D
It was fun to watch this movie!! A lot of people complains that this movie sucks, that there's no point, no plot, etc... but that's what this film is about!
I've thrown up with things like "Godzilla", "The Italian Job", "Jurassic Park 2" and "Matrix Revolutions", and was thrilled with masterpieces like "A Beautiful mind", "Lord Of The Rings", "Awakenings" and "The Shine" (the original one).
Then this friend of mine comes with:
He: Dude, there's this new movie, and we should go see it now, because it won't last to the end of the week. Me: What is it? He: Its name is "Kill Bill". Me: Not interested. He: Uma Thurman kicking ass to hundreds of guys with a japanese sword. Me: Let's go NOW!
No need to think too much. The girl wants to kill Bill, and that's it. Having that idea in mind from the beginning, you really, really, really enjoy te movie. It was brilliant and a lot of fun to watch!!!
It was cool to hear the crowd at the end of the movie: "WHAT? Is that it???? Man, the worst movie ever!!!!!". Venezuela has no culture for "cult" movies. They stopped showing it the week later. Anyways, I managed to watch it three times.
Ah, hell, I'm still waiting for them to show "Bubba Ho Tep".
"50,000 pigeons with a note saying "SYN" tied to them flying to Utah.."
LINDON, Utah, Sat 13th, Dec 2003 -- The SCO Group, Inc.
SCO announced that it's dropping all its current business model based on unix and servers, in favor of a new and promising pigeon market in Lindon.
"This is so exciting", said Darl McBride, SCO's CEO. "Selling pigeons is definitely the way to go", he added. He didn't discard the possibility of suing pillow vendors who use pigeon feathers as stuffing material without paying licensing fees.
"You and your friends must be very, very sad people."
Why do you attack the person and not the message? Following your game, I could say "You're not even a human prototype". Your comment has no foundation.
"I would stretch the imagination far enough to say that you are probably the kind of people that the average Slashdotter looks at and goes "I'm not a geek" in comparison with."
So?
"Have a nice day; oh, and keep dancing, nerd."
Why do you think calling me a nerd is a offensive thing to me? I'm proud to be a nerd. I was born a nerd, and I'll die a nerd. Yes, I like computers; yes, I like sci-fi movies and yes, I like to think and talk about stuff average people won't. To me, that's good stuff.
Well, just because it's old, doesn't mean it doesn't work anymore. It's like cars... the whole concept is like a hundred years old, but they are still useful... no need to replace them. Of course, car technology has improved way a lot since its beginning, and that's what GUI designers must do... to improve current technology... I don't know: better window managers or tools (like MacOS "Expose"), or something like that.
I've received spam from the US here in Venezuela. I got friends in other countries (Spain, Norway, Denmark, Argentina), and they've received spam from the US as well.
I understand why phone companies see a threat in VoIP providers, but they shouldn't. Maybe they'll experiment some looses during the time the hype is high, but later on things should be roughly back to normal (or even better, thanks to better marketing and competition strategies).
That's because a lot of customers using VoIP for international phone calls wouldn't make those calls using conventional phone services anyway. I know I wouldn't. If VoIP was not available, and I need to keep in touch often with people overseas, I'd prefer to use cheaper alternatives such as e-mail or IM (even internet conference technology).
But of course, that's my two cents... feedback is gladly welcomed.
Calcutta, Dec. 7: You can now use the computer to chat, e-mail, browse the internet, access an archive of public domain works by Bengali writers and read the almanac (ponjika) in Bengali.
In the first successful project of localisation of Indian languages, Ankur, an initiative of a group of academicians, students, professionals, linguists and techies -- all volunteers and without any financial backing -- from India and Bangladesh, will bring Bengali to the desktop, based on Free/Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS).
A downloadable version of it that can present a basic-level desktop designed to perform functions equivalent to Microsoft Windows, will be posted on the Net tomorrow. The localisation efforts by Ankur will help millions of Bengali-speaking population access computing benefits through low-cost means.
Localisation is the process by which software and computing systems are adapted to a particular language and the specific cultural habits of a region. However, before the process of localisation can begin, the software has to be internationalised to support multiple languages and local customs.
"The local language framework makes it easier to take e-governance initiatives to the grassroot levels," Ankur member Sankarshan Mukhopadhyay said. "Government machinery and protocols can be best utilised through the local language and nuances, which can reach the largest number of people. The Ankur Bangla project covers all aspects of localisation. It aims to provide a 'Bengali computing experience', while creating a standard framework and infrastructure which makes computing scalable and economically deployable," he said.
Defined broadly, e-governance is the use of IT, communications and telecommunications to promote an efficient and effective government, facilitate access to government services, allow greater public access to information and empower people by making the government more accountable to citizens. The project may involve delivering services over the internet, telephone, community centres, wireless devices or other communication systems at reduced cost and increased productivity.
Ankur has been in talks with the Bengal government for the past six months. The group, however, did not get any projects from the state government.
"We have been approached by CBSE officials to use the project framework for digitisation of the syllabus to Bengali, using which they will tap the Bangladesh market," Indranil Dasgupta, founder of the Linux User Group in Calcutta, said. "Jadavpur University and the Forum of Scientists, Engineers and Technicians (Foset) are also in the process of adopting the Ankur framework for localised low-cost computers."
This, despite the fact that the government's much-flaunted government-to-citizen effort - Banglar Mukh (the face of Bengal) - has fallen flat on its face.
In the site's frontpage they quoted a guy from Microsoft:

The more slashdotted the site is, the more I wanna view it!!!
Here's the google cache version of THG, for the impatient people like me.
So now we know that there's at least one guy who receives 14 times more spamming than I do!!
Poor kid!!
Or maybe is it that this guy has been an active buyer of the things offered through spam all these years?
I wonder if he'll start receiving anti-spam ads from rejo/spamvrij.nl 14 times a day. X-D
Yes, it a joke!! Go ahead and screw my karma!!

Many will believe "The Rise of The Machines" and "Matrix" are prophecies. X-D
Right now, I don't feel like I have the need to use them, but it's better to be prepared.
You can find a tutorial on XForms here.
but while on the toilet i came up with this.

Bengali crosses desktop lingo barrier
