>>Have you ever tried playing Mario 3 with a mouse?
I've never played Mario 3. If it's anything like the old NES 8bit Super Mario affair I would play it on a keyboard
First of all, it is an old NES 8bit Super Mario affair.
Second, console games on a keyboard absolutely suck. Absolutely, completely. Slow games like the text-based Radical Dreamers are playable with a keyboard, but platformers? Completely unplayable.
I don't know about him, but my nail polish remover says it's extremely flammable. There's probably a lot of things in your apartment that are flammable that you don't think of.
I'm not that far into FF6, but I'm thinking it's going to be my favorite. FF4 & 5 I loved too. FF7 I agree was overrated, though I did like the materia. 8 I hated the battle system, but I like 9 & 10. X-2... ugh. The battle system was fun, but the storyline cheapened X. I like the 12 demo, you should give it a try. I was afraid the real-timeness would make it too different, but it's still very final fantasyish, and I thought it was fun.
So there could be a linux virus that would delete the home directory? That's sooo scary. Compared to windows virii that corrupt boot records, that's nothing.
There's plenty of games that women would like on the DS - Nintendogs, WarioWare, Meteos, Trace Memory, Sims, Animal Crossing, etc - the problem is that women don't think of gaming as something for them. Start marketing it to them, and they'll give it a chance and probably like it.
When you have camping trips for kids, you have more than one adult. When I worked as a Girl Scout camp counselor, there were men there, and some of them were even (*gasp*) counselors as well. There were lesbian counselors, too. Not everyone is a pedophile.
>>Some days, I think games can be something else, the next great entertainment media. And then other days, I feel it's just like porn or motion rides, where there's no capacity to reach high emotional levels.'"
Video games are the next great entertainment media. And anyone who says games can't reach high emotional levels needs to play Final Fantasy VI. Right now. Go!
I recently discovered FF6 (yeah, I know, little behind) and it's amazing. I never cry during video games or movies, but this game's got me a couple times.
Just like movies took time to be recognized as having the potential to be great, video games will as well.
The bunny girls would be better if they weren't wearing playboy bunny outfits.
I guess I'm one of the few people who actually liked the demo. I didn't let my teammates kill all the monsters (though appearently I could have) so I guess that's why I had more fun. I don't imagine the actual game will be as easy as the demo. Remember the Xenogears demo, where you 3 charactors who had thousands of hitpoints and hit for insane amounts of damage, and then you played the actual game through the part the demo covered, and you had one charactor with about 100 hitpoints who hit for pitiful damage? Yeah, they don't want you to die during the demo, because then you won't buy the game. I imagine the actual game will be much more difficult and you won't be able to let your teammates kill all the monsters.
Given Final Fantasies VIII-present, do you really think that XII will be better?
The only bad FF since VIII was X-2, and I still liked that better than VIII. I thought VIII was crap and VII was overrated, loved IX and X. I've played the demo for XII, and I like a lot. I'm sure XII will be a great game.
>>>and yet no mention of the mostly bare chested steroid guzzling super men with six packs on their six packs that accompany Ivy in Soul Calibur 2.
Are they wearing thongs like Ivy?
I don't mind video game girls having large chests or anything like that, I just want them to wear clothes that are realistic for what they are doing. I didn't mind DOA Beach Vollyball because swimsuits are realistic for beach vollyball, but Ivy's leather thong leotard thing looks like it would be painful to walk in, let alone fight in.
>>>The game rating system needs an overhaul, and parents need to take more of an interest in what their kids are playing, because there seems to be this wierd double-standard. Parents don't mind that little Timmy is buying GTA, because it's just a game and games are harmless kid's stuff, but then they get completely shocked when they find out what's in GTA.
The game rating system doesn't need an overhaul, parents need to actually look at the ratings.
As far as I've heard, it's still going to be on Gamecube, but since the Revolution is backwards compatible, it will probably take advantage of the Revolution controller as well. Kinda like how the Gameboy Zelda's came out for the previous Gameboy, but if you put them in the newer gameboy, they had extra shit, like one had a extra dungeon? I'm thinking it's a simular concept, where it's made for the previous system, but designed to still be cool when put in the new system.
>>> The Labyrin3D which won the XBOX is actually a pretty darn cool idea! For those that didn't RTFA it is just like one of those little kids toy's where you must tilt the box around to roll a ball through the maze.
The cool factor comes from the fact that it utilizes the gyros (drop sensors) in the Apple laptop so that you play by tilting the laptop back and forth.
Cool!
Not a unique idea. Kirby's Tilt and Tumble and Yoshi Topsy Turvy for Game Boy also do that, and I'm sure there's more.
>Win win for the retailer and consumer, in my opinion. > Yes. It is just the developer who gets screwed.
But that's okay, they are probably use to it by now...
What's this crap about the developer being screwed? No on would say that I screwed over Toyota because I bought a used car, so why is it different when it comes to games? I didn't pirate it, the makers got their money. If they don't want people to sell their games, then make then longer or put in some damn replayablity.
I thought the gameplay in Cross was really really good. They should have had more double-techs. but the gameplay was a refreshing change from standard RPGS that I really enjoyed. I thought the storyline was uneven though (sad, because it could have been really good) and the charactors were a bit off. Often I was left wondering why on earth the charactors were doing what they were doing. Maybe I confused by the charactors because I'ld played Radical Dreamers first, and the charactors were slighty different. Well, Kid was slightly different, Serge was completely different! Of all the Chrono games, I think Trigger was the most well-rounded in quality, Dreamers was the most creative, and Cross was pretty and fun.
I don't remember 1994-95 being frustrating as a console player. I went to gamefaqs.com to check release dates to see if my memory is faulty, but some of the best games of the 16-bit generation were released then, including:
Final Fantasy III Donkey Kong Country II Yoshi's island Sonic & Knuckles Illusion of Gaia Lufia II Super Metroid Chrono Trigger
I didn't remember it being frustrating, and I can't imagine any console player being frustrated, looking at what was released those years.
If all you want to do with your mate is have sex, then all you need in common is to find eachother attractive. However, if you want to date or marry someone, then you need a lot more in common. Even if you just want to have sex, sometimes their personality is so annoying that even that sucks. Your mate needs to be your friend if you're going to be together for any length of time.

Sorry, already married. I'll friend you though. :)
What's your favorite FF?

I'm not left handed, and I've still done that. Stupid, stupid place.

Girl Scouts. They don't have rules on orientation and religion like boy scouts.

Well, they aren't using Windows, they have to have some brains.

Everything's acceptable on slashdot. If I had a dollar for everytime someone called me a cunt here, well, I could at least buy a new dreamcast.
Can't you still buy used dreamcasts in used game stores for $20?

Game consoles are much cheaper than computers. Could you buy a computer for $400 that will play new games for the next 5 years? I'm thinking not.
