They should have a site where people can vote for features. That way they'll know how popular a particular feature might be... and that might help them decide what features to implement first. Something like vim does here http://www.vim.org/sponsor/vote_results.php
I'd like to see support for multi row tabs to be native in firefox (I currently get this from the Tab Mix Plus extension). This feature is already on the 'Feature Brainstorming' wiki - but I have no way to reaffirm support for it.

I find it interesting that the CEO realizes the need for multiple workspaces - and so he has three separate monitors.
However, noone at microsoft feels that consumers need to have virtual desktops.
It's 2006 and Windows still ships with the poorest of window managers, and no support for multiple virtual desktops.
I wish they'd get the basic features developed first - before implementing all this gold plating. I still cannot filter imap messages based on text in the body. I can do this with outlook, evolution, pine, to name a few...

'... With Gmail I got the opportunity to change email - to build something that would work for me, not against me.'
It works for you... but why are you pushing it on all gmail users ?
Why does any message with the same subject get marked as part of the same conversation ? This is not always desired, and can cause a lot of confusion. This behavior should be configurable.
I know the gmail has a "delete-nothing" philosophy, but can we still have a keyboard shortcut to move messages to trash ?
I know google is all about searching... but sometimes sorting is more intuitive and effecient - especially when there are a boatload of search results... how about providing the ability to sort email based on certain fields?
Don't get me wrong. I love gmail. It's right up there with pine and mutt as far as usability is concerned - and thanks to firefox/mozilla, I can use it seamlessly across platforms. I have learn't to live with it's quirks.
But my point is gmail is still lacking in the area of customization. It's like we all share Paul's gmail.conf file. Just because it works for Paul, doesn't mean it works for everyone else.
... if someone could write a firefox plugin to sync bookmarks to and from the google personal page. That way all my firefox instances will have a consistent set of bookmarks.
Currently they have a plugin that syncs to an FTP server. This is cool but not everyone has a web-accessible ftp server handy. Everyone can, however, personalize their google account.
... be using some kind of synchronization protocol like NTP http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1305.html ? All you have to do is update the server, and the clients will follow pick up the changes.
I use DenyHosts http://denyhosts.sourceforge.net/ from a cronjob. It detects any suspicious logins in/var/log/auth.log and adds the ip address of the user into the/etc/hosts.deny file. It also sends me an email telling me the IP address that was last added to the file.
Lately I have been getting atleast 1 hack attempt a day on my personal computer connected to the internet over a cable connection. On weekends I get more.
Just this morning I had two ssh dictionary attacks. DenyHosts caught them both.
a) replacable and rechargable batteries. The batteries need to be open standard like AA or AAA (so they don't charge us an arm and a leg for the battery replacements)... and the player needs to be able to recharge the battery via AC or USB.
b) replaceable, expandable flash storage. so if the hardrive dies, we're not left with a paperweight.
c) no uploading/downloading restrictions. it works just like a movable hard-drive.
d) support for every music format under the sun. especially open standard formats.
Nope, I haven't used Expose, but all it looks like is a window minimizer, unclutterer or cascader.
It's not just about finding windows, its about organizing them too.
You see, if I train myself to always keep the same windows in the same place - I never need to look for them. For example, Firefox is always in desktop 2. In KDE, at any given time I can see 25 windows, and know exactly which one I want to go to, using the pager.
This is the one thing that is keeping me from getting a mini. I've used third party utilities on windows, and they suck. To me, it seems like a basic functionality of a windows manager. Third pary utilities, don't cut it.
I know Longhorn will have this and I was almost positive Tiger would have this, maybe not. Oh well...
Firefox has *never* crashed for me, and I'd classify myself as a power user.
However, on my girlfriends computer (which is an _identical_ T30 laptop) it crashes all the time. While upgrading to 1.0 it hung up - just like you stated - and I had to uninstall and reinstall it from scratch. It still crashes, but I think we've isolated that the crashes only happen when we download files.
This is really a pain, especially while I'm trying to convert people over to firefox.
Anyway, the ieview plugin can come in handy if you can isolate the pages that cause the crash:
http://ieview.mozdev.org/
It's a great plugin, especially for those pages that don't work so well under firefox just yet.
Why do we not yet have a full blown commercial pvr that doesn't charge for subscription ?
Why are all the out-of-the-box alternatives adopting this pay-forever mentality ?
And why are people accepting this trend ? Next thing we know we'll be paying for the software upgrades for every "new" thing that comes out...
There is obviously a demand for these products - why aren't the sony's and the apex's of the world coming out with sub-200$ boxes (without subscriptions) that everyone can buy ?
A small box with:
a) Replaceable 4-6 GB flash memory - No moving parts...
b) Replaceable and Cheap Li Battery or the box uses rechargable AA batteries and also works as a recharger.
c) When connected (via USB 2.0 or Firewire) this box appears to a PC just as an external drive
d) No uploading/downloading restrictions - it's just a harddrive... isn't it ?
e) Has support for every music format under the sun... FLAC, OGG, etc...
f) A UI ripped right off the current gen ipods
g) A graphic equalizer - but that would just be a nice to have.

1) Get a mac
2) Switch to Chrome
3) Do not upgrade firefox ever again
Shipping from off shore would be more expensive.
Not to mention the fact that the shipments would need to go through customs.
In most cases it would be quicker and cheaper to just pay the taxes.

Is there any plan to start merging the most popular extensions into the browser itself ?
I've noticed the biggest complaint people have with upgrades is that they render their extensions/themes incompatible.
Also, it must be a pain for the extension authors to maintain extensions across so many different releases.
If something is exteremely popular, maybe it should be part of the browser to begin with. Especially since so many people want it.
Doing so will mitigate the upgrade issues, and they'll end up with a more functional browser.

or are there 7 discs to install this thing ?
Why on earth do they need 7 full CDs to install this OS ? That always throws me off and I end up burning 4 Fedora discs instead.
I will be trying out Sarge though, when it makes it out. I have heard too many good things about debian not to try it out.
Will this work for you in IE ?

I thought this was way up on the requested features list
But seriously, isn't is about time ? Solaris, KDE, Gnome have had this support for ages.
Leave a globally accessible server running in the western world, and run VNC on it. You can VNC into it and access all the the net you want.
