I feel there may be as much destruction following a tsunami due to looting and pillaging. If, and I do mean if, we can evacuate Manhattan, or Boston, or any large city, in a few hours, imagine the national guard force needed to maintain order and assist with the clean-up. Whether you approve or disapprove, our national guard is stretched pretty thin with this Iraq situation.

What if there is a over-zealous religious fanatic that writes code which will prevnet you from visiting any sit that THEY feel is inappropriate, not just pr0n? Kinda like what a vigilante is doing in Utah Or a government agency preventing access to public records until a investigation completes? Or maybe a political party might release a worm that prevents you from looking up the goods on a candidates business history, or typing 'miserable failure' into Google. Maybe Microsoft could release BHO code which looks at the URL before IE sends the request, and if the URL contains Linux or Apple, whoops, here is microsoft.com

Or will we have to wait until a boardmember loses wads of money or stock trades? Perhaps this is why the IE development team is being brought together again. Although, I think it would be best to get a NEW development team together.

I work in a hospital where much of our lab equipment comes as part of a package deal. The Heomdialysis Unit, for instance, has multiple types of machines, from various vendors. For about $20k a piece, we get a machine, and the software to run it. We get software upgrades and hardware upgrades *FREE* with our service contract. The nice thing about it is, no one at the hospital has to know how to program them, and when one breaks, a service rep comes out to fix it, with time, travel, and parts included. We even get new machines as models are upgraded. You could easliy market this as state of the art software, with free hardware to run it. The hardware is so specialized though, that we can't do much else with it, so it may as well be free.
