please if a game developer is reading this one missed point about 3rd person cameras and a wish list for me is the following...
when you change areas, or "zone" (MMOs) or anything that would require the screen going all black or all white or requiring a CD load (time where player usually releases all controls) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE place the camera in a position so pushing UP would not move the character out of the zone/change areas again/require an additional CD load time.
too many times have i played games where UP entered the building and then got in the building and UP exited the building. so annoying.

it isnt a patch this classifies as extra downloadable content. like extra boards, enemies. they just happened to include extra functionality at the same time to scapegoat the no patch policy
heard about this yesterday and thought it was a great thing
eventually EA will cut prices on football games to $20 to combat this and plays will ask "well how come all sports game can't be $20?" then all sports games will have to be cut to $20. eventually people will go "well if sports games are $20 why can't all games be $20?" and then the world will be a better place. for you, and me. just wait and see.
you don't. if they have done the cost analysis and they know how "Easy" it is to notify people that somebody@aol.com no longer works then they would have switched already or would be in the process of switching and wouldn't be asking for you advice. if they are asking you for advice what they are really saying is this "i know broadband cost the same amount and i know it goes faster then AOL but i really like the cute buttons"
my parents use AOL only because they are a subname of someone else's account and because my mom freaked out when the cable guy told her he would have to drill holes in the wall to install cable internet. they have one phone line so internet costs them $0. i've tried to switch them but to her the pretty colors and the $0 are more important then her time.
everytime i tell someone to not use Internet Explorer when they are around my mom chimes in "i don't use IE i use AOL" even after i told her numerous times that IE is embedded into AOL.
a large portion of the AOL audience is dumb! anyone that is smart enough to do a cost/benefit analysis of AOL vs. broadband would not be asking for advice.
this analysis doesnt work... i've used it several times myself whenever anyone with AOL asks me about the cost of broadband. they always assume you need "AOL for Broadband" in order to use broadband which adds another $10 a month or they "really NEED their AOL mail"
its like arguing with a 5 year old.... tell them it cost money and to ask you again when they are willing to spend more on internet access.
"You'd definitely burn extra calories hiking with that thing."
you'd definately be urning something. cancer/lightning stick on your back? i hope you were you lead hat as opposed to your tin foil to add more shielding
don't get me wrong... i am all for OSS. i run linux and mac etc. however if the wire protocol is open wouldn't it be easier for RIAA/MPAA/USGOV/ISPs to look at the data and block certain traffic/file names to "cover their own ass" or have evidence to prosecute you?
"Train employees not to open attachments unless they are expecting them. Also, do not execute software that is downloaded from the Internet unless it has been scanned for viruses. Simply visiting a compromised Web site can cause infection if certain browser vulnerabilities are not patched."
someone must have mistyped that from this...

if they transmit as a HDTV signal (not familiar with subject so please forgive) and just didn't put in a video signal wouldn't the normal broadcast flag cover this?
or does the current broadcast flag only cover video? so i couldn't save in HDTV format but i would be able to listen to the THX sound?
And why exactly do we care if they get the likeness?
how will this ruin the market for football games?
i see this as a bad maneuver for EA. frankly i stopped playing sports games cause the action was too slow and there was a 2-3 minute gap between plays where you watch the models hit each other and dance. now that EA is buying the likeness they are telling their purchasers that they are concentrating on this part of the game. hello what about UI? game play? is it fun to play? i see this as an opening for the other games to get back more into football strategy and controls of the game/players/plays.
frankly when i'm looking at the overhead view of a football game/play i don't really care what the models look like as long as i know what each player is responsible for. sh*t they could be Xs and Os for all i care with numbers over their head.
so the end result of the football gaming will be.
EA = slow/boring game where you watch models dance. Madden = stategic football simulation.
some games aren't really games.. more like interactive content sold for $50.
MHO is that hollywood is seeing the dollars. you make a bunch of CGI movies or even real movie like ROTK and TTT and you add some animated version of the main hero that you control doing some punching/sword swinging and they get $50 for their DVD/Movie vs $15-$30 for their movie.
umm i'm no expect here but don't the Gamecubes use a ATI chip? aren't the Xbox2s gonna be using a ATI chip? no clue what chip the PS2 uses but i could have swarn all 3 systems are designing for ATI chips on the next gen consoles....
given the fact that console gaming is much larger then PC gaming and the fact that the consoles are getting to basically be full blow PCs with special SW wouldn't ATI hold a much larger then 50% marketshare?
the whole article only mentions the processor number to quantify it being a super computer. no tera-flops/seconds. nothing else. they may have the 3rd largest number of processors actively running at one time but a super computer that does not make.
does the MSFT knowledge base have knowledge about anything?
i frequently have to use other sites besides MSFTs because of the following reasons.
1. no information
2. information isnt updated
3. no example usage
4. does not work on an non-windows machine
worst website ever! and this is for THEIR products. they should go back to printing manuals at least then i'd have proof their info was crap

the army starts giving soldiers the BFG2k as standard operating gear?
no they'll wait for them to brake and stop making them so eventually you lose the ability to record without being in violation of the DMCA
but this expansion sound lagtastic! congrats to second life for creating such a lagtastic game!
yes but would it run linux?
dude it's the only way you'll be able to mimic Robert's voice

they worked on the PS2. they worked on the PS3 and they are working on the neXtBox. i believe they also worked on the gamecube and the nextcube

is the much-predicted end of EverQuest almost here?
god i hope so

the books usually suck or are written by people only working on windows and teach DirectX Input at the same time for input.
gamedev.net should be sufficent enough to get you started. they'll have links to a lot of reference material and a board to ask questions too.

could you then say that SUN went SUPER-NOVA?
