Instead of doing lots of news and deletes on the fly, why not allocate enough memory when the program starts and use that instead? That way you won't fragment your memory pool either, or have those age long garbage collection sessions. Anyway, the topic of today is bad programming, move on, nothing to see here.
Hey, instead of arguing about methanol and oil, how about just consuming less? Use energy efficient products, and shop wisely. All of you. Do you really need all your cars?

Nov 27 - Dec 3, Zelda for Wii sold 139,011 copies. But it didn't sell enough to hit the charts during Dec 4 - 10? Or did they just forget to list it?
The game is very easy. The first time I completed the game I had 82 lives, and didn't spend time on collecting them. Also, the blue shell and huge Mario powerups are useless. You didn't need them to advance in the levels, they were just silly bonuses. And the levels mostly scrolled from left to right. In Mario 3 and 4 they went also up... The end of level bosses very really easy. And the minigames are mostly bad.
I'm a Nintendo fanboy to the bone, and love Mario games, but this was just too easy and lacked emotion. Had its moments (like Mario 1 tunes and flagpole jumping), but still, could have been a way better with good level design.
I work in a small Finnish mobile games dev company, and curse that IDE! Most of the guys have never seen a makefile. All they can do is click the icons in Eclipse, and mod the ant files a little. All their coding is Java/XML. Objects. Our tehcnical lead insists on having a object oriented design with tens of classes. Image how much that takes space when LO END J2ME handsets have JAR limit of 64KBs...
Force the students to code asm, C, C++, Fortran, Basic... Not just Java with an IDE. And somehow, force the students to code on their free time. Force them to like about what they are doing. And force them to learn about things. Like about learning.:)
I've been playing TES4: Oblivion for a couple of days now, and I have to admit that the use of HDR is cool, and while some graphics are better than in Morrowind, some are not. You could get around 10x better faces in Morrowind by installing a fan made mod to the game, and the faces in Oblivion are just horrible; The vector models are stretched and the textures are blurry and plain ugly.
License this technology to game developers, please, so no more ugly textures and deformed models (unless your real life models are ugly).;)
NVidia's cards used to be the ones that sucked the most watts and still weren't the best performers. Now it's ATI! Ugh... Fortunately NVidia's got the best Linux drivers.;)
GP2X does have a graphics processor that can do scaling, mirroring and alpha blending, among other things. And also, if GamePark doesn't give us much software, then we are out of luck, apparently. And so is GP.
A friend bought one of these, and borrowed it for a couple of days. You get something like three hours when you watch movies (DIVX), and the thing looks like it skips some frames. Don't really know, but it's looks like that.
Also, the emulators are very unfinished. SNES lacks sounds, many lack good interfaces. Some readme's are in Korean, and you need to install some kind SDL libs for some emulators. Didn't say that in the docs. Or is my Korean that bad?;) Still waiting for hardware accelerated SDL to surface.
I'd love to buy one, but currently the machine is lacking software. Very badly. Give it software and I'll buy one asap!
We have our share of those, too. Perhaps not all are fat, but they are annoying, nagging, stupid, and very scared of everything. And envious. And gossip a lot. And speak in riddles. Perhaps they just watch too much TV. Or something.
You can expect to get something around 30000e/year, if you are programming games for mobile phones. And pay ~24% taxes. And everything is more expensive in here than in the States.
Resident Evil 4 got out earlier this year (at least here in Europe). So they already have a sequel coming out later this year? On a brand new system? Wow. They sure thing make those games fast these days. Or is XBox 360 _that_ easy to develop for?
I implemented a random terrain generator and a random house generator (3D), and made it a MOG. Plus some other sweet stuff like a cool AI system and lots of wild speculation.;)
Nice graphics is a bonus, but if the AI is still as stupid as it was 10 years ago, who cares? We need better AI! It shouldn't be that hard. Take for example Morrowind - no AI at all. Even I can do better than that.;)
Wait for the OpenGL hardware

The current handheld devices are not suitable for 2D/3D graphics, because their memory bandwidth is so poor that texturemapping will make the software crawl. I'd get excited when the mobile devices get real 3D hardware acceleration. Even a 400MHz XScale doesn't cut the mustard if it spends its time waiting for the memory. Have been using OpenGL ES for over six months now...
yes, some people spend $20+ on food a day, but i spend around $8. should i buy the game, because those people, who have lots of money?;)
JA2 was pretty ok, nothing spectacular. imho laser squad was superior. i recently bought silent storm, which is also much better than JA2, and also cost me around 20e. should i buy a so-so JA2 while i can have silent storm? buying old and average games for what? supporting linux and games? uh... they'll have to do better than that to get my interest.
tell that to the average joe. only older gamers can see through the graphical polish to the core of the game.
don't forget that it's expensive to create those complex (and good looking) 3D-models. the prettier it is the more time it takes to make. unless the average coders populating the game industry somehow manage to build a cool 3D-model generator.
it would be better to move those extra 100000 hours from opengl programming to ai programming as the ai in games is so simple and sad (yes, even in black'n'white, you fanboys). read few hundred practical ai papers and you'll see what i mean.
how about trying to win the trophy in game ai, instead of graphics?

A lot of errands. Actually most of the game.

The best XBox Launch Lineup Ever. Still it didn't have a single game I would have liked to play.

mitsubishi pajero (pajero == wanker in spanish, and renault megane (megane == eye glasses in japanese).
finnish army, i mean. was there for nine months. complete waste of my time.

will the AI be still as dum as today? scripted and all that boring stuff? all those MiBs go to graphics ?

has anyone got a torrent link to this file?
why won't the oo-people write a similar document, but about why people should choose oo instead of microsoft office?

blue and red men shooting in a blocky, empty enviroment. even the antenna is wobbling for joy. uhh... i'm not excited. only sleepy.
