  1. That's easy! on The Absolute Worst Working Environment? · · Score: 0

Visual Studio! The editor is so bad it made me smash the keyboard. Then I realised that you can get XEmacs for Windows!

  2. i'd love to see an adaptive ai in a rpg on Adaptive AI in Games - Does it Really Work? · · Score: 0

if they don't make it, i will myself. ;) already wrote one in my master's thesis...

  3. it's about dimensions! on Is Music More Lasting Than Graphics In Games? · · Score: 0

music is not as multidimensional as graphics: e.g., with two channels and few instruments you can come close to what humans can hear (ok, a crude example, but you'll get the idea). in graphics we still don't have 1000 inch screens and the graphical power to come even close what humans can see.

  4. any hacks available? on Open-Content GBA Movie Player Reviewed · · Score: 0

so you can make it run your own software?

  5. Re:Bullshit! on Sim Sin City - Thoughts On Grand Theft Auto · · Score: 0

you are absolutely right, but i think that the author of that article wanted to say that if GTA3 will be removed from the markets, so should bible and other provocative instruments, too. which isn't going to happen. so GTA3 should be allowed to stay.

  6. Re:Mplayer deserves it's props... on MPlayer Alleges KISS Technology Violating GPL · · Score: 0

i also love mplayer, but what's almost even better is mencoder (in the mplayer package): making divx backups of dvds has never been this easy! ;) and if i want to preserve part of a movie (there is only one uh... actor, whose scene i just love), no problemo, mencoder gives me the piece easily.

  7. it's easy, i've done it on Best Way To Beat A Caffeine Addiction? · · Score: 1

next week drink one cup less than usually. the following week drop another cup, etc. it's hard to get rid of it quickly, but lower the amount of caffeine you take little by little. the same applies to food if you want to get rid of extra kilos. i lost six kilos in six months pretty easily by leaving few candy bars away and few extra sandwitches...

  8. nokia's n-gage? on Eight Biggest Tech Flops Ever · · Score: 0, Redundant

has someone already mentioned n-gage? huge hype from nokia, big shipping numbers, some games got even good reviews in finnish video game magazines (yeah, the finnish magazines always give good points for finnish games, and nokia's games), but did anyone actually buy it?

  9. sun has changed? on No More Leap Second? · · Score: 1

i'm bad with physics, but i guess the sun's mass isn't constant over time, which can cause such effects that the planet earth's orbit will change. or have the other planets in our solar system changed somehow? or something like this. anyone smarter try to explain this?

  10. i don't want to sound harsh on Open-Source Cube Engine Gets Major Update · · Score: 2, Insightful

but isn't this engine a bit too old? i mean, we've seen millions of boring quake 3 clones. why yet another more?

  11. instant flop. on Gametrac Handheld To Debut At CES · · Score: 0

no amount of super hardware will make up for the missing games. this will flop faster than anything else (well, not perhaps including n-gage).

  12. hentai!?!? on "H-Bomb Secret" Now Online · · Score: -1, Redundant

cannot access the document (it's slashdotted!). but is it about... hentai?

    gotta get it!

  13. heard this but better on my amiga a long time ago. on A Truly UserFriendly Game Audio Engine? · · Score: 0

if i just could remember the name of the tool, which generated acid jazz and other bizarre, but very funky and addictive songs... its output was much better than that of zenstrings. but i love the idea - unlimited music for the masses!

  14. Re:they can kiss my sorry butt. on Cheap, Rugged, Multiplayer Gamepads for Linux · · Score: 0

I also have that EMS adapter and use my PS2 controllers to play PC games, but PS2 Dual Shock controllers are much like the third party GameCube controllers - made of cheap plastic and they feel like they could break any minute. IMHO Nintendo's GameCube controllers are much superior, much better controllers in every way.

  15. where's castlevania!? on On The Quality Of Licensed Game Soundtracks · · Score: 0

so many posts and no mention about castlevania's awesome _original_ soundtracks. especially that of symphony of the night. i really can't think of a real band, which could borrow its songs to any of the castlevania games. i think that in games the music is tied to the other material. in snowboarding games it's best to use the music people listen to while snowboarding. but what do you listen to when killing vampires?

  16. Re:Windows NT the winner in 1991? on Nominations for 2003 Vaporware Awards · · Score: 0

I thought it meant Neanderthal Technology.

  17. ok... on Propeller Arena - Sega's Lost Dreamcast Title? · · Score: 0

It's ok if they didn't release the game in USA, but why has the rest of the world suffer because of the simple minded people of USA? Why not release it in Europe and Japan?

  18. Welcome to the USA on Real Gun Pulled At Counter-Strike Tournament · · Score: 0

Where every freak is given a gun, with a smile.

  19. Re:Prior art - C64 Space Taxi on Sega Goes Crazy, Sues Fox, EA Over Taxi · · Score: 0

what stunts did you have to pull in space taxi? i remember only flying around... in crazy taxi don't you actually get extra money for those stunts? pretty different games.

  20. what? on SCO Ordered to Produce Evidence · · Score: 0

    no lawsuit without evidence? herecy!

  21. Re:I couldn't play it on Reviewers Pile On Deus Ex - Invisible War · · Score: 0

Perhaps the same day when consumers realize that they cannot play 3D-games using really slow video cards. Even without the eye candy do you think GfFX 5200 would be able to push those polygons?

  22. Re:Time for an upgrade, I guess... on Reviewers Pile On Deus Ex - Invisible War · · Score: 1, Interesting

DirectX 8.0 class cards with primitive pixel shaders are dirt cheap now. And even if it worked without pixel shader hardware old vidcards would not cut it, because of the high number of onscreen polys... It's not that bad, and yes, time for an upgrade. Like we all do, once in a year or 1.5 years.

  23. Re:pure randomizing is bad on Why Random Encounters In RPGs Aren't That Bad · · Score: 0

well, they look like real monsters so i guess they should behave like ones. what's the reason for all those random encounters where you fight with e.g., orcs? the orcs want to kill you for fun? you kill say 100.000 orcs and their friends and the dog still want to try their luck? and the evil cats, and rats!! even alone!!

  24. pure randomizing is bad on Why Random Encounters In RPGs Aren't That Bad · · Score: 0

how about adding some logic to the random generator? like modeling the real world: let the player know that lots of monsters have been seen around here, looking for item-x. then add twenty random encounters. after that random encoutners stop until some other event (which doesn't have to be that brilliant) occurs generating more random encounters. real monsters just don't pop out of thin air without a reason.

  25. Huh? on Halo's Price Drop For Xbox, GameSpy Hookup For PC · · Score: -1, Troll
