they also hate vacuum cleaners, hair dryers and everything containing fast-rotating fan/turbine. They hate them big time. Don't even try to bring a cat near such a noise. You'll miss a lot of your skin.
Here (Bulgaria), a serious deal of people knows that our own country's military is the world's one-of-the-worst. They are corrupt, incompetent and ill-funded.
And, there is even more complex approach to that matter (afaik, in Russia):
they beleive for their army both (corrupt, incompetent and ill-funded) AND (well known fact that it is the worlds best)
or, at least, not when you compare between different businesses, cultures or payments.
So, american (resident) workers are lazier, compared to, well, the mexican workers in the same company, same position and for the same particular task.
there will be always enough ignorant people to drive the economy... unfortunately in wrong direction (crappy disposable products, for example). So, in the long run, you will have real cheap and real unusable boxen - no one will make them work for more than year, etc, etc...
HT is good only when you have 2 different (from CPU point of view) tasks to run, using different core parts - for example, ray-tracing (lot of floating point) and xml parsing (lot of integer / string operations).
Give the CPU 2 similar threads and you are much better with disabled HT
Not sure for the explanation, but performance issues are a matter of fact.
avg. 11 hr/day, for the last 20 years, CRTs from green 320x200 apple2-clones to 21" flat trinitron... double stars are still double for me, seen doctors only for paperwork / health certs
well, I don't have a TV set, don't know if it counts.
1) Find.... (just the same)
2) deside what to do depending on how the victim looks like (and the stalker, if known)
3) have fun anyways, profit optional
until Windows XP - we were put in +1 GMT, even we never moved our borders (and timezone) in the past 50 or so years. I don't know if someone protested, we just used "Helsinki, Riga, Talin GMT +2". I was surprised to see "Helsinki, Riga, Sofia, Talin GMT +2" in XP.
> Don't you suppose the right to redistribute is granted pretty much automatically for a virus?
here, (re)distribution of computer viruses is a crime, at least intentionally, and having a modified source code pretty well shows intention.
even by themselves. They hardly utilise 1% of the energy they get from the light, and even that 1% is not about the spinach. The poor plant is used in photosynthesis research because of the easily-extracted chloroplasts (compared to other vegetables available), not because they are somehow better.
e-comerce sites traditionally ban our IPs, because of the profit/fraud ratio from the people here. The general web, on the other hand, used to browse/search/mail/chat/etc not explicitly related to money is not restricted anyhow (at least I didn't noticed)
had better power grid before the last war. It didn't collapsed completely even with more than 1/2 of power stations bombed.
I am sure they will use the occasion only to improve it.
Yesterday,
all those backups seemed a waste of pay
now my database has gone away

All those issues are sooo easily solved with RAID
the idea came with the need. Connected battery leads of an APC UPS to the car's battery, and powered 2 PCs with it for ~8h. The only trick is to NOT try starting the engine with the starter when battery begins to die, PCs die too. Pushing is OK.

option 2:"Just what the PHB says"
it is just the way things always were.
We need fundamental diversities, not winme vs win2000

AFAIK, modern filesystems can store their journal on a different device. You just need to change journal flushing logic.

Just wait until the womens' cycles synch up, they all have PMS at once, and the poor guy has nowhere to run..
nothing new. Most women are at full moon or at empty moon anyways.
My country is in Europe, but not in European Union - taxes still apply.
