Er...what would lead you to expect a sellout of 360s in Japan? The PS1 frequently outsold the Xbox throughout its lifetime in Japan.

The Amazon wishlists for the hospitals have far more of the traditional boardgames and toys than video games, actually.

Dominated? You say that like the generation is over. True, Nintendo has a huge lead now, but it's not a "dominated", it's a "dominating".

Every other page may not be an ad (though some sites, like the IGN network of sites, do actually do that), but I count 5 ads per page on this article-two graphic ads at the top and 3 text ads at the bottom.

As far as I know (and I may be wrong), PS2 never suffered any thing of that kind, and Sony has overall a good reputation

As a note on regions, Sony has 29% of its revenue coming from Japan, 26% from the US, 21% from Europe, and 24% from the combined rest of the world. Not sure how this factors into your complaints about Europe, but it's significantly smaller than Japan or the US.

Really wish the Zelda ship date hadn't slipped.

You'd prefer an unfinished game rushed to launch a few weeks early, as opposed to a polished and perfected game? Miyamoto has gone on the record stating he's put more into Twilight Princess than any other Zelda. I don't think I'll mind waiting for it, because in a year it won't matter when it came out; the only thing we'll remember is the quality of the game.

  18. No way. on Fatal1ty Walks Away With CPL Purse · · Score: 2, Funny

There's no way what I just watched was from MTV. There were no commercial interruptions, the gameplay was on the screen 95% of the time, the announcers knew what they were talking about, there was no product placement, they showed the full duration of the match-besides having to use IE and WMP, there was no intrusion whatsoever. This cannot be MTV.

  20. Re:The floppy on The Mother of All CPU Charts · · Score: 1

Every college bookstore I've been in has had floppy disks. Any electronics store (Best Buy, Circuit City...) has them easily. And the vast majority of pre-packaged boxes (anything from Dell or Gateway, the ilk, not homebuilt ones and possibly not the $300 Walmart special) have drives. It's still by far the easiest way for technologically illiterate people to transfer files-easier than burning to CD, doesnt use a different system like email, and less expensive than a USB drive.

Anyone with any background in CCGs go check out the rules I wrote for the Wizbits game. I'd like to make it as overly complicated and funny as possible (in a nerd-type "resolution nuances are funny" fashion), while still keeping it playable. If anyone has any pointers (and with this large of an audience, I expect there will be), email or respond.

Yes, when there are categories such as "Best Addictive Game Fueled By Mountain Dew", I know there's no chance of companies paying for advertisement via these awards. They said there was voting, therefore the votes must matter!
