Grumble... Go take a look at Apple's description of the G5 architecture before spouting.. Here's the relevant lines:
Each PowerPC G5 processor has its own dedicated 1GHz bidirectional interface to the system controller for a mind-boggling 16GB per second of total bandwidth -- more than twice the 6.4-GBps maximum bandwidth of Pentium 4-based systems using the latest PC architecture
800MHz HyperTransport interconnects for a maximum throughput of 3.2GB per second.
Apple uses the same basic memory set-up as the AMD Opteron.
The G5's also have a memory controller built into the processor. The front-side bus on a G5 runs at 1/2 the processor speed (1GHz for the VT machines).
The G5's also use hypertransport. Here's the description from Apple:
High-performance I/O
The HyperTransport protocol integrates the Power Mac G5's I/O subsystems and connects them to the system controller. Serial ATA, Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire, USB 2.0 and optical digital and analog audio are all integrated through two bidirectional 16-bit, 800MHz HyperTransport interconnects for a maximum throughput of 3.2GB per second.
About six months ago I ditched my stereo. I was moving to a new apartment and didn't want to move a big bulky stereo so I sold it to the kid down the street. I already owned an iPod (5GB model), so I bought a nice set of computer speakers and that's my new stereo set-up.. It's small, sounds great in my small apt, and is easy to move.
I'm not so sure there's support for the Archos, but there's some interesting information out there if you look around...
Does the Nomad II MG support the MAC operating system?

Our Advice
Yes, the Nomad II MG has been designed to support the MAC platform.
Click here to download the latest MAC drivers.
The Creative Nomad II, IIc, and MG has only limited supported on the Macintosh OS X. Creative Labs currently only support the usage of the Nomad players whereas iTunes supports the connectivity to the Macintosh. Please make sure that you have the most up to date version of iTunes. You can find the most up to date version of iTunes at http://www.apple.com/itunes.
Once iTunes is installed and the Nomad connected, there should be an icon of the Nomad player displayed in the source section of the iTunes software. Simply drag and drop files onto the icon to transfer music.
As a general tip, make sure that you have the Nomad player plugged directly into the computer and not through a peripheral USB port like the ones on the iMac's keyboard.
If you're still not able to see an icon of the Nomad player, please contact iTunes support at http://www.info.apple.com/usen/itunes for further assistance.
wrote a little program to batch convert all those files to MP3 and send them to the iPod.
I must be missing something here. If you have already written a program to convert from WMA to MP3, why not simply drag the MP3 files into your iTunes library?
AAC is nice, but MP3's aren't shabby and both the iPod and iTunes are perfectly happy with MP3's..
I really hope he doesn't veto. I'd abstain before I'd vote for Dean.
I'm not entirely sure who I'd vote for (I don't particularly trust Bush), but I'm curious why you'd abstain rather than voting for Dean if you felt as though Bush was not representing your best interests.
I guess I'm particularly interested in whether there are issues you disagree with him on, or is it just a personality thing?
What 640MB limit are you referring to? I bought a 15" PowerBook last December with 1GB of RAM, and my housemate bought one last September with 1GB. The only Powerbook with a limit is the 12" PB, and that's a physical restriction issue. There's a 128MB chip soldered to the motherboard and only room for 1 user-installable chip.
Most of the candidates have answers (or ideas) for each of these questions posted on their page. There is no single unified platform for the democratic party at this point.
That's easy! Write a little applescript script that constructs and sends the email through mail.app... Then simply add a mail filter (rule) that launches the applescript.
Let's assume that the authors were spoofing the sending address. How would they establish a connection?
If there was a list of trusted users then the source IP and port could be encrypted using the receivers public key, but then how do you construct a network of trusted users?
good luck on finding Nanci Griffith, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Sam Brown or Shawn Colvin on there. And no sign of The Beatles (unless you count a covers band !) on there of course.
I was curious to see how the iTunes Music Store stacked up on your list of artists, so I just took a look and here's what I found:
Nanci Griffith: 14 complete albums
Mary Chapin Carpenter: 7 partial albums
Sam Brown: none
Shawn Colvin: 2 complet albums, 3 partial albums
The Beatles: 1 partial album
Apple offers support for 30 days, but the hardware is warrenteed for 1 year. We had a bum monitor hinge on one of our PowerBooks that started to act up 4 months after we bought it. Apple overnighted a box, repaired the hinge, and returned it to us in Northern NY in under 4 days. No questions asked, not extended support, just really incredible service.
The search engine indexes everything it finds on publicly available shares. So, there's a filter that restricts your search to "audio," "video," or "documents," so what?.. How is the addition of a filter (*.mp3) to a search engine (by the way, you could do the exact same thing that this search engine does using the search capabilities included in Windows) illegal?
This search engine, which was primarily used to further illegal activity, had no controls against illegal use, thus it became a target.
What kind of controls are you suggesting? The search engine provides a list of the publicly available files. Shouldn't the students providing the files be targetted rather than the student running a search engine?
Apple has been releasing (paid for) OS updates at a rate of about 1 per year for the last 5 years. Every 6 months or so, they release a free update. With OS X there have been more frequent patches and updates, but in general the 1 OS update per year hasn't really changed.
As for the 'large footprint' its certainly no larger than a mountain bike (handlebars) so I conside that a nonstarter.
This may be true, mountain bikes and segways have roughly the same bar width. However, mountain bikes are generally ridden in urban environments at speeds nearly equivilent to the cars. Most cyclists out accelerate cars at the stop lights, and keep up with traffic relatively well between the lights. This is not the case with seqways (15kph is roughly 9mph).. I normally average 15-25mph on my mountain bike in traffic and I generally ride in the center of the lane (admittedly in a very small city), to keep folks from attempting to squeeze past me. I want them in the next lane when they pass me, just like they would be, if I was another car.
I have all my music stored on the B&W G3 in my office. Rather than stream the music between my machines, I simply set the iTunes library on the PowerBook to point to the appropriate drive ond folder on the B&W machine. I have a little applescript that runs on startup that checks for a network connection and if one exists, mounts the remote drive. I've been doing this for about a year now..
If you really want iTunes streaming access, why not figure out how to tunnel all DAAP call through an SSH tunnel to the remote machine. I'm not sure it would work, but it might be fun to try..
How about a slashdot interview with the congressmen in question?
How about a slashdot interview with all the candidates?.. Collect a number of questions, and send them to each of the congressional and presidential candidates.
I've been thinking about this for a while.. I don't have the time, or the skills required to tackle this, but I'd love to see a google hack, based on the news.google.com engine, that searches for congressional and presidential comments on particular issues. Make it easy for people to learn about a candidates platform, and people will vote more intelligently.
Can you point out one player? Because I've never seen them.
Yep. The 5GB iPod I bought over a year ago plays AAC encoded files (after installing the v1.3 Firmware Update), as do the other 700,000 iPods out there. Combine that with the new Apple music store, and overnight you've got a whole lot of AAC encoded music out there with hardware support.

Mac OS 9 and earlier did this, so it's not new. It's just new to OS X.

The SR-71 trainer carried a couple pilots, but the operational model carried only a single pilot.

It also states at the bottom of the page, that CDBaby would be interested in working with independent musicians to get them a spot on iTMS.
I'm sure CDBaby would like some sort of cut, but they do this with their CD sales already, so they've already worked out the contract issues.

Yeah, WiMP for the Mac sucks!. MPlayer for OSX is much nicer.
