30 people and 3 it workers!!!!!! SHUT UP, be quiet and never complain about anything you are living in the IT Utopia.
Seriously if you had a competent manager the first thing he would do is fire at least one of you and use the extra budget money to pad his salary. Most companies are pushing 70-100 users per tech.
The present talk is that in making such a large purchase Apple has cut the price of a 4 Gb flash drive in half making it the same price as a HD.
This is similar to the fact that when Apple introduced the iPod the 5Gb drive it used actualy cost more then the iPod retailed for causing many to buy iPods just for the drive. Of course Apple was probably less then 1/3 that price for them due to there sizable orders.
what I cant see is how can the school prove anything enless they actually watched the kids do it in front of them.
Lets face it logs showing admin logins prove nothing. doesn't establish who loged in.
Files on the computer prove nothing as all the computers have remote access installed and the admin password was in the wild. This means that any computer at the school could be accessed remotely and files added without the users knowledge.
Sure its proof enough for the school to say the violated the TOS but to even make a charge in criminal court is ridiculous.
This is the equivalent of of telling kids they can't bring cell phones to school and then having them arrested for trespassing if there caught with one as the did not have permission to enter the school with a cell phone.
PS I wonder if they searched any of the teachers/administration computers for unauthorized programs...and if they found any would they have them arrested???
what I want to know is when we can expect to hear about the conviction of the spammers he sold to. Obviously due to the size of the database (every AOL member ever apparently) they knew it was stolen. So we should see several spammers charged with 92,000,000 counts of recieving stolen merchandise right???
OK - no chance of the government being that smart... but it would be nice.
G3 500 dual USB CD with airport card and charger....present Ebay value around $300 (note the airport card itself will bring $70 easy),and $499 retail (smalldog.com)
that equates to $250,000 squandered today by the school district. This is without figuring the cost of the sale itself (and any lawsuits).
Why is it that the institutions of education attract such dumb people for there boards???
in early 1945 the US placed an order for purple hearts in anticipation of the invasion of Japan. To this date those medals are still being issued. The US military fully expected to suffer more casualties invading Japan then It has taken in Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf all combined. A sobering thought.
will still have no idea what actually was requested of rackspace by the FBI..there can be a big difference between what a subpoena says and what the agency enforcing it says. Without Rackspaces side we really don't know and since this is Terrosist related the FBI no doubt used patriot act powers meaning rackspace can't talk about it and any FBI info about it will not be released or even confirmed to exist.
Hmmm didn't really hit me till now.... Squeeze the mouse to hold a click should no longer be necessary since you have both a microswitch for the down press and a touch sensor to tell what side you presses it should be able to realize that you picked up the mouse but are still pressing the button and thus hold the click. Not sure if this is the functionality but it does make sense.
Funny how all this stuff thats supposed to protect us from the bad guys only works on the average user. This mechanisms can be quickly defeated by anyone how really wants to (both the tracking and anti-counterfeit parts) so who are they really targeting?
If you really want to get the industries attention we need a good sleazy group of lawyers to file a class action against the record companies on behalf of independent artists (the actual victims here). the threat of a payout in the hundred of millions maybe even billions might just wake them up.
Is it a little silly to complain about the cost of upgrades that you don't buy.
By the way Windows XP pro (Upgrade)$200 released 20 months after 2000 (about the same as current OSX updates)
of course Windows Vista (hehehe) was scheduled for about the same amount of time(2004)...or are you saying Windows is better because they will miss there ship date by TWO YEARS. (hmmm wasn't 98 originally scheduled for 96 also)
I can pretty much guaranty that almost 100% of companies with over 10,000 employees have at least 1 Mac.
remember it only takes 1 out of 5 companies to be all Mac to get to 20%.
probable reasons the number goes up in larger companies 1. more likely to have in house marketing/advertising. 2. more likely to have separate IT for different divisions.
Actually the figure I have from engine builders is that the pulley/clutch drains about 2 Hp thats over 1400 watts that makes the first 2000 btus of cooling free. Considering the clutch's draw is always there, its easy to see how this could have a dramatic effect on the real efficentcy of the system.
note-- car systems can draw up to 20hp or 15,000 watts this is more then 10 times that of a household window AC unit.
main lesson here AUTOMOTIVE AC UNITS ARE VERY INEFFICEINT were talking EER of less than 1 here.
yeah but the coolerator is most likely rated around 40W while the mini fridge is 200+. Simply put no one has really tried using peltiers in a larger device than the little toys like these.
Kroger has filled suit against Wal-mart and Target for violating its patent for "an apparatus for and process of containing purchased goods in a polymer or wood fiber based sleeve for transport to consumers domicile" also known as bagging.
Cool now if this catches on (and it will) we might be able to get some real Tech shows. I would love to see Laporte and the gang do a video podcast so I can try and erase the any thoughts of "attack of the show" out of my mind. Ewwwwww!!!!!!!!! Bad TV man.... Bad TV
Floppys would have long since disappeared except for Ignorant PC/Windows users.
(note this isn't flamebait as a general statement toward PC users. Its just that people like this could never install Linux and Mac users have had no floppies for so long theve forgotten they existed)
You know who I'm talking about the ones that call copying to a floppy or installing a program "downloading". The ones that don't seem to know you can save word files to the hard drive and use a new disk for every memo. The ones who come into a store and ask for a 5MB floppy because there 5MB file wont fit on their floppy or who while staring at the IBM compatible disc's ask if you have any HP discs for there computer. The one that don't know you can attach files other than pictures to an Email.
Note I've personally met all these people
As long as these people are around and uneducated we will still have the lingering technologies such as floppies, serial ports, PS2 ports, joystick ports and parallel ports
Actually copyrights are for commercial rights...copying as part of a serious discussion is not only not a violation of copyright but is protected speech.
More likely the Judge knows nothing about technology and rather then show his ignorance by questioning the request he simply signed off on it with no Idea what the evidence was or what it meant.
It seems to me this is just an artificial way of creating a cold water drowning. People are often revived after long periods without oxygen in near freezing water. Leading to the rescue mantra "your not dead until your warm and dead".

Yep theres a sure way to improve education EXPEL ALL THE SMART KIDS. or at least all the kids that are smarter than the administration.

4. change polarity and you have a heater
2. unit can be in passenger area and not in engine compartment
3. you could have several small units instead of one big one
4. flip the peltiers and you have a heater
5. no pulley being spun even when not in use
6. should be much lighter (although alternator would get bigger)
Uhhh... turn on crossfade to and set to 0 in iTunes and your ipod should do the same... problem solved

on the other hand
Peter is rich and new line is stinking rich.
