Whoa, calm down, I did not call anyone "stupid", nor did I had any intentions of insulting anyone. I only pointed out that people who have trouble with downloading stuff are most likely not ready to give Linux a shot.
The expression "Jumping the shark" comes from an episode of the old tv show Happy Days, where one character litterally jumped over a shark. Many people considered that this was the worst. episode. ever. and that the show went downhill from there. Hence the expression.
I'm in Canada and it works fine here. Showtime does not though.
Speaking of that, I've wondered, is it even legal to lock out a (non-military) website from certain countries? Such practices pretty much screws up the whole point of the Internet IMHO.
You forgot the point where you won't have to throw money at Microsoft for a product you don't use anyway.
Also, sadly, I don't think HP will actually "give the code back the Linus", they'll most likely release binary-only drivers that support only the kernels they want to support.
KMail (the mail client of KDE) doesn't display HTML messages by default, instead you get a message warning of the risks of HTML messages, and a button to activate HTML just for this message. It kicks ass.
I couldn't agree more. Don't get me wrong, I am very sad that a new Sam & Max game won't get to see the light of day, but DAMN does that game look ugly. The fun cartoon style we all loved was replaced by... some shoddy 3D job that makes everything look like it's made out of clay? WTF?!
Maybe that's why it was cancelled. Yeah, I can see it now: at a late point in the development, they noticed it looked like shit, and it was too late to restart from scratch, so they gave up.
I just hope that whoever decided that the game would be in shitty half-assed 3D was fired from lucasarts.
So how's the Linux support for these babies? Last time I checked, Via's mini-itx boards had quite flaky Linux support, ie. binary drivers for redhat 8.0 only and other stupid shit like that.
I'm really interested in building a computer out of this, but if I can only use half of the builtin hardware due to shitty and/or non-existant Linux drivers, I'm not going to buy it.
With the release of GTK+ 2.4, and Gnome 2.6 due out some time next week, it seems of some the Gnome developers are looking at how they'll be coding Gnome and the rest of the Linux desktop.
Oh, so the Gnome developers are going to be coding for KDE too?;)
Seriously, call me a troll but all this "Gnome == future" crap annoys me. KDE's OO framework and flexibility kicks Gnome's weak and feature-lacking C-coded ass, not to mention Qt is vastly superior to GTK+. Yet, for some reason, it's always Gnome that gets the spotlight.
Wait, there's more: - Phoenix DRM sells drugs to your kids ! - Phoenix DRM kills your dog ! - Phoenix DRM sleeps with your wife ! - Phoenix DRM lights your house on fire ! etc...
Okay forget it, I just noticed the Press Release wasn't initialy there when the news was posted. My bad.
Uh... what part of "April 1st" don't you understand?
...AND they lead to slashdot! Who knew that guy was a slashdot reader!
Don't worry folks, there are still enough XBox sports titles to fill up those bins of unsellable used games for the next 300 years.
You can just put the /usr/portage from your compile server on nfs and have all other machines export it, you know.

I agree, they shouldn't use Windows either.
Then I don't think they should try Linux at all.
This was already in the news post you dumbass.
Screw the RTFA, you need to RTDNP.

Wow, that was so nasty of you.

How long before the MPAA makes it illegal?

I already knew about that, this was only meant to be a joke (the guy who modded me Informative was probably on crack).

Java - the programming language - has always been fast
uh... NO.
"Live Action Anime" ?! Yeah right, according to the trailer there is not even ONE weirdly colored hairdo.
they should just do a slashdot poll
That wouldn't work, as there is no package in debian called "CowboyNeal".
But imagine... VB.NET in ROM?
I'd rather not. That would most likely tear a hole in the very fabric of reality as we know it.
Wait, there's more:
- Phoenix DRM sells drugs to your kids !
- Phoenix DRM kills your dog !
- Phoenix DRM sleeps with your wife !
- Phoenix DRM lights your house on fire !
etc...
That guy is sooo last year, talking about Apple dying. Nowadays, all the cool financial analysts are talking about the nearing death of Nintendo, duh.
