Not being able to open a device doesn't always constitute the device itself being dangerous though.
More times I've seen devices that don't even have the power to lightly shock you, but are , imo, just made that way so once it breaks, you're fudged, and you have to buy a new one (long live the quick-consumer society we're living in).
For example, my Logitech mouses, all are a hell to get opened : Once opened, it's even more trouble to get them closed up again.
While a mouse isn't a million dollar investment, I find it very consumer-unfriendly that I am not able to, for example, replace my right-mouse-button myself after it fails to work properly.
So true that it's strange that engine didn't take off : It wasn't too advanced, but with it, also came a lower licensing price.
The one thing that rocked was the ammount of enemies at the same time on-screen.
Heh, I'm getting flashbacks of millions of screaming headless-madmen running at me in a closed-off valley:)
I agree on (most of) your points, and every site that serves me a pop-up or pop-under, won't be visited by me anymore.
I was more or less aiming at people who use plugins that disable -every- ad, even the less intrusive static images.
Imo, there's no real reason to do so, and tbh, your comment about the animated images distracting you, is a bit exaggerated.
Then again, some people are more easily distracted than others.
First we all whine about obtrusive ads 'invading' our surf-experience.
Once we finally blocked them all out, and thus taken away one of the more important reasons a website can deliver content for free, we whine again when they are starting to charge money.
I myself am quite happy with searching for free sources, taking the (imo, not too obtrusive) ads for granted.
I had a conversation with some friends about tagging all people on the world.
Besides the obvious 'those who want to do bad stuff, will be able to remove it', I was amazed at how many of my friends were willing to tag themselves if they had the guarantee that everyone else got tagged too.
I myself am very uncomfortable with the idea itself : Less so, if I got it black-on-white that only a certain radius of a crimescene is used for bringing up the location-data of the people in the whereabouts... Then again, a guarantee given by my (dutch) government, means shit to me.
So who in here would want to 'sacrifice' a little/big bit of his privacy, if you have the guarantee that everyone else gets tagged too ?
I don't mind this at all :
If you see the rate of sex-offenders that again commit a related crime (I know there's a fancy word for it, but I forgot), I think it's the only thing to do.
I did not RTFA, but I think the only time the data of the whereabouts of such persons should be accessed when a (sexual) crime has been taken place.
I guess my first judgement might have been drawn a bit too early, allthough I doubt if I would ever like such series (imo, it's too much a soap with added SF/horror elements).
How can a man who's about the size of an ant next to these beasts do such a thing armed with only a sword and a bow and arrow? That's for you to find out."
"If you don't know the difference between real life and a video game then you shouldn't by playing!"

And if you have trouble distinguishing the real world from a game world, I guess you aren't the best person to judge yourself.
Uh... Ploy? You do realize that the PSP is portable right?
So are portable dvd players.
I'm no fan of Sony or the PSP,
Neither am I, does it show ?;)
but this comment is absurd. If there really is a market for portable movie playing, this is not an inferior format. Do you realize how big DVDs are?
Do you mean big, as in size, or datacapacity ?
It's quite some difference to watch a movie on a television, or your PSP.
My mainpoint wasn't to totally bash the UMD format, more a reaction to Sony probably trying to shut down any attempt to get the movies... you allready -own-...converted to a format playable by the PSP,if those UMD-movies gain a little ground.
It's the best way to let someone re-buy the content they allready might own ; At least DVD's offered something extra over video-tapes.
I hope the consumer doesn't fall for this ploy.
Imo, Sony should be focusing on releasing tools to convert your video-media to a format which can be played on the PSP, and not suckering people out into buying an, afaik, inferior format.
Afaik, the AI in Quake 3 does not adjust when you're behind. In my knowledge, it will act the same according to the parameters defined for the different bots, on different skill-levels.
I think my sig also defines a very true nature of the pleasures of gaming.

I find it very strange that the people I have converted (mostly not too tech-savvy) to using Firefox, still have to make re-installs themselves.
Yep, that's the one :)

Those are the actors too !
"Rots" in dutch means "cliff".
I allready did as soon as JarJar hit the screen ; What's new here ?
What happened to just learning how to write/spell the words correctly in the first place ?

Funny to see once again, a word way too similar to my own language (dutch) to forget ;)

I've seen both series once, and can only tell that it hangs together from generic storywriting ; With yer occasional chick-glimpse.

I wonder if he's right on this assertion though

Always handy if you're one of the sole survivors, and looking for ways to ducktape cockroaches :)
Yes,yes, it's the wayback-machine... But come on !
We slashdotted Google !
Seems -they- are the one promoting it...
Out of curiousness, how does the book end ?
