Incorrect. The Sea Shadow had many hours of open-water trials. Granted, it was never intended for actual duty, but that doesn't negate the fact that the Sea Shadow has undergone sea trials.

  2. Re:Doesn't the US have a stealth Ship? on More on the Swedish Stealth Ship · · Score: 1

Yes, Lockheed developed a stealth ship called the Sea Shadow as a technology testbed, not something that was to deployed for combat. The idea behind the ship was to make it a missile ship. It would travel 200 kilometers ahead of a strike force and launch surface-to-air missiles at oncoming bombers and attack aircraft.

Lockheed's Skunkworks also drew up plans for a stealth submarine, but when they presented the design to the Navy brass, they were told "The Navy doesn't build ships like that" and was ignored everafter. I don't understand the lack of foresight, but I, personally, can't think of another service that relies on sonar and stealth moer than the submarine service!

How about they freakin' tell the government to get out of their lives? Fuck the BIA. Leave the reservation. It's not going to be roses, but it can be done if you have even a modicum of ambition and the drive to chase what you want. I'm sure no native WANTS to be subject to the federal government. And about the culture.. you can honor it all you want (every other minority does it) and still live in the modern world. The native culture is effectively dead. That's what happens with evolution. Get over it.

I agree! It has been how long since the evil white man destroyed their way of life? I for one, respect the fact that they lived here prior to the American expansion, but modern native americans need to get with the times and realize that their way of life is freakin' dead. As such, they need to quit holding to these reservations and join the real world. If some poor Vietnamese kid can come to America and be a millionaire in a decade, natives can do the same thing. I'm getting tired of all the handouts and special treatment. They shop in stores jsut like me.. not kill their food like they used to. And even then, I'm tired of this noble savage image that they've taken advantage of. I mean, when their ancestors moved into this continent they caused the extinction of numerous large mammals (mastadons and such are the msot well-known). Sure, they didn't have guns, but once white man brought 'em from Europe, the natives were all about using them to slaughter each other. They are no more noble than any other race of human.

Back to the point, though. Get with the times folks and quit depending on government handouts. Better yet, America.. take away the nipple everyone is suckling on!

I'm not a parent yet, but I think the principal I'm about to present applies to any and all careers. It's all about priorities. Don't become a work-aholic and everything should be fine. Work 40-45 hours a week, spend your free time with your family and try not to bring your work home with you. Don't spend weekends trying to make deadlines and stuff. If your career requires you to do a lot of work on your days off and such, find a new job. Family, IMO, is far more important than a paycheck. Don't sacrifice family for money. It is NEVER worth it.

However, getting civilian companies into the business of launching satellites, hiring private astronauts, and other such things seems (to me, anyway) the future of the business. We need to stop relying on NASA and the Europeans to launch our satellites. We all know that governments are ridiculously bad at spending more than need be. Civilians companies are much, much better at it (though not perfect). And that's the whole idea, right? To lower the cost of getting into space? NASA and government-backed space agencies don't have the same impetus to lower costs and raise productivity.
