The idea of mans creation being infused with spirit and coming alive, and the ethical/moral consequences, are not new. not even close. way before frakenstein even. check out pinnochio. or the ancient legend of the gollem. (not the shitty tolkein gollum, the clay man gollum of middle eastern and hebrew myth). so, its not really a "Sci-fi" plot you are fed up with, is it?

(Not just the parent, but other posts quipping about waiting to see it and not download) So What If I Download It? I certainly WILL download it. AND I will end up driving at least 1 to 3 hours from my south georgia home to go see it in the theaters. AND i will shell out so i can own an official copy. Big friggin deal if i download it.

  10. Re:How about a plot too? on Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow · · Score: 1

Its all a matter of opinion. Personally, i was pissed when i saw both The Matrix and Spiderman. I honestly felt pissed and cheated by all the hype. The Matrix, for all its cool violence and CGI effects, had zilch for original story value. While my family and friends were raving about how cool and thought-inspiring it was, I was thinking to myself how they were a bunch of morons who had never read really good science fiction (Gibson, Dick, Asimov, etc). And Spiderman... well, after growing up reading comics and working in a comic shop....I thought the special effects were sucky and they ruined the story. Heres hoping Sky Captain won't be another ripoff!
