    When I ship any package to another country or recieve a package from another country. I fully expect that customs will open and inspect the contents.

    They usually don't but the expectation is there.

    Now if this was being done to domestic shipments then I would be more concerned.

    Overall, it is still a waste of resources that could be put elsewhere.. especially since the pirate dvd problem is bigger in Asia.

    Adult helps the adaptation of new media formats, but it does not create it.
    The consumer will not say "i want HD porn!" and runs out to decide what HD player they want based on what porn titles are available.

    Once people start buying HD players, they will of course look for porn to go along with them, and the porn industry will be happy to provide it.

    Competitive internets?
    So you want to make it really difficult for people to communicate and do business?
    You want to be unable to email your family because they are on a different internet than you?
    Not only does your idea make no sense, but no one is going to shell out several trillion dollars to create a new internet to compete with the old one.

    I have actually been wishing spammers would do this for a long time.

    Spam is not going to stop, so the best thing that could happen is they start to target people better.
    br If Viagra spammers started sending their email only to men over the age of 40. A huge number of people would suddenly get a lot less spam

    I kinda care. I'm still running win2k and getting ready to put together a nice new computer. Even though XP would work fine, I don't want to go out and buy XP and then upgrade to a new OS later and pay double.

    I have a 1997 dodge and a 1979 volvo

    The volvo certainly has more problems (probably due to age) but it is so damn easy to fix. You open the hood and there is just an engine and all the basic mechanical parts required to run an engine in there.

    My dodge has so much crap crammed under the hood that even changing a belt or an oil filter requires me to remove other parts just to reach it.

    It would be nice if advances in auto technology could make the whole process of generating power to move a car simple instead of more complicated.

    I'm generally pretty supportive of environmental concerns..

    But it seems really silly to be worried about what chemicals are used to make foam when you are burning a massive amount of fuel to get into orbit.

    basically they are the same product, they are just willing to make extra ones and sell them to people for considerably less than what sony charges for them

    An aquaintance recently went to China to visit a factory that makes the sony bean mp3 players. They told him they could make the players for him and just leave the sony logo off it. He then plans to sell them on ebay.

    I tried to explain how bad an idea this was and how there are so many other legal ways to invest your money, but he wouldnt hear it.

    Yesterday it was Microsoft loses money on Xbox 360.
    Today it is Microsoft loses money on IE.

    We are not talking about some little startup here that people are watching to see if they make any money. Microsoft is a huge company, they make billions of dollars. They can afford to make mistakes, they can afford to experiment, they can afford to do things that we will never understand their motivation behind.
    So what if a couple things they do don't make money or don't make sense..

    It makes me sad to know that Microsoft did not maximize profit potential on the 360.

    Bill has built up such a nice little company and it would be such a shame if it went under because of this.

    I'll wait a few years before I start designing sites that will look good on high resolution widescreen monitors. There are not enough people using these monitors yet to make it worth my time and effort to make sure things look extra nice for them.

    If the government would stop trying to equate legal porn with child porn and stop focusing so much energy on "obcenity" and actually put some resources into actually stopping child porn.. maybe they would actually get somewhere. And it wouldn't need to be done by tracking people.

    There are many alternatives to paypal, but none are widely used enough to be useful. I really hope that a google payment system will provide a decent alternative.

    If an ISP advertises "unlimited internet" they better not mess with my ability to use p2p.
    If they clearly state what their policy and limitations are, and/or give me a way to at least pay more to bypass those limitations. I will not have much of a problem with it.

    Hopefully this means that search engines are getting better, but it could mean people give up faster. Sometimes I am searching for something and despite changing my search queries several times I still get stuck with tons of pages that have nothing but some text and adsense links. Before this, it was probably easier for google to try and control people who tried to manipulate search results, but now I think they are less likely when so many of these sites are actually generating revenue for google.

    This is pretty standard for universities. And they are pretty good at making sure the people who did the actual work get something out of it too.
