I think I am going to have to say you are wrong.

It is not possible for every country to just sit in their own corner of the world and "make stuff for themselves" Not every country has all resources to produce all things and the world economy is such that poor nations will always be a source of cheap labor for rich nations.

They just want cheaper access to water, air, and fuel so that having a moon base is cheaper and can perhaps provide us with experience before going on to mars some day.

When I first got into the adult industry, I fought really hard to "protect" my copyrights. Any time I found my photos elsewhere on the internet I would have my lawyer send out threatening letters, I would try to sue people. I would get peoples websites shut down.. it cost a lot of time and money and mostly I just pissed people off.

Eventually I figured out that in most cases when people copied my photos and shared them.. it increased revenue because people would come to my site looking for more. I then restricted any lawsuits to people who would charge money to access content they stole from me.

I think the music and movie industry could learn the same lesson.

I'm really getting tired of looking for good conversation about slashdot topics because way too many people post before even reading the article or even really thinking about the summary.

Now, my thoughts on the topic. I manage the google ads (and other internet ads) at the small health product company i work for. It is always a challenge to come up with wording for the ads that makes us stand out from our cometitors because you only get 3 short lines of text. A video ad would really give us more time to explain things to the potential customer. If people click on them of course is yet to be seen.

I also think that people who use adsense on their sites should be given the choice.
Having images suddenly appear where there was previously text could kinda muck up the design of their site if they were not wanting images.
