I take Provigil on average about once a month, usually when I have a large amount of work to finish, and/or have to get up really early and be in a good mood in front of other people. It definitely does improve your workflow and disposition.
I haven't experienced any of the pain-related after-effects, but I do have trouble sleeping after taking it. I never take one past 6am, but can only generally manage a couple of hours sleep about 18-20 hours later. So the next day, I'm really tired, but that's the only negative and can usually be fixed with coffee.
Isn't it equally likely that (since we was working in a quarry) his battery melted in his pocket, and the shock made him fall backwards onto a rock? Or off a rockface? TFA is sparse on details but if his spine was broken I would expect a fall to have been involved.
I'm surprised the essay doesn't even mention the worst part, which is how Apple is forcing people at gun point to buy their products, so even though there are all of those other options on the market, you have no choice but to be locked into Apple's platform decisions against your will.
My chemistry is definitely rusty, and this is way offtopic, but I still have to ask: wouldn't it actually be "hydrogen hydroxide"? Isn't water a H+ and an OH-?
From TFA: drinking a moderate amount of alcohol -- up to four drinks per day in men and two drinks per day in women -- reduces the risk of death from any cause
I got really excited when I read that. I have always said that if someone invents a drug I can take which means I don't *need* to sleep, I would be the happiest guy alive. Then I find out they're just talking about modafinil (a.k.a. Provigil) and other similar drugs.
I've taken modafinil on and off for years. It in no way eradicates the *need* for sleep, it just stops you feeling sleepy when you want to be awake and concentrating during the course of a normal day. But you still have to sleep, or your brain turns to porridge.
Sorry, but no. Come on. Three summers. We're going to make an assumption about climate changes on a planet that's billions of years old based on 3 years of data?
(For the record, I tend toward a similar argument regarding climate change on our own planet, but that's another topic...)
You're really talking about a type of Fourth Wall violation more than suspension of disbelief. It was a topic on the WoW forums recently when someone on a role-play sever complained about the in-game tabard with the WoW logo on it. I can only imagine what the threads would be like if there were full-on advertising...
TFA does not say "95% of IT projects not delivered on time". It says "95 per cent of information technology groups are not delivering some number of projects on time..."
Big difference.
The Apricot Portable was significantly drool-worthy back in my day, though I guess it was only in Europe. Speech recognition, wireless keyboard and mouse (via infrared), and folded up into a small suitcase that fit into even the most modest of family saloons. 'Twas a thing of beauty.
...not Discovery.
Pedantic, yes, but errors in the summary irritate me no end.

Oh, and it makes your pee smell weird.

Because in all of the others, you are not posing this question.
Wait...
If you only think they were girls, then I'm not terribly excited about them.
My chemistry is definitely rusty, and this is way offtopic, but I still have to ask: wouldn't it actually be "hydrogen hydroxide"? Isn't water a H+ and an OH-?
Well, that's more than 1%...
Even car crashes..?

Nothing to see here.
Not if they forward it to their mobile/skype in/office etc... I'm rarely at home when I pick up someone who's called my land line.
It's real name is 30 St Mary Axe, which is probably why the much shorter and more descriptive "Gherkin" caught on so quickly...
GoogleVision - the TV that watches you back...

All directions are the same. You are in a sphere.
> walk forward
You are eaten by a hamster.
Yeah - we all know that in reality this thing will be used for pr0n. We know exactly what should be in his hand...
(For the record, I tend toward a similar argument regarding climate change on our own planet, but that's another topic...)
No video. Thicker than a human hair. Lame.
We would all probably need an extra sweater for one thing...

I guess this makes it square...
Will be intersting to see how he gets out of it. Maybe he wants to feign his own death...

Obviously much effort has been put into making this as closely resemble us wheeled humanoids as possible. Hitachi, I applaud you!
But what are they going to do for the nation's penis size?
