Pathetic still that they can't/won't/don't do *all* of their own work, but on a certain level *if* they were doing it to be able to concentrate more on what they did enjoy it at least shows some creativity.

The Symbian kernel and OS design doesn't currently support SMP, so it is possible that the Linux kernel is the direction to go in - obsoleting the EKA2 kernel at some point in the future for high end mobile devices. However it is probably worth pointing out that whilst the Linux kernel works well for SMP systems for scalable performance whether it does this AND manages to be good for power saving/consumption is possibly less proven.
Linux generally evolves around needs. So, if the need (and funding) for the ability to do SMP AND low power arises, then I'm sure it will happen.

That isn't to say that linux is the answer for every technical problem, but it is already a good/great solution for a wide range of applications, and as it moves forward I think the areas it will influence will only grow.

I disagree, if only for marketing reasons. Its all about perception. Paper is thought of (in general) as weak in just about every sense of the word. Iron on the other hand just sounds strong and is also perceived as strong by most of the general population. So by saying that it is twice as strong as iron, it plays into people's perception. (end fast talking) Again, don't worry that would never happen, just one of those crazy laws. Also, you won't believe the deals we've got going right now...[insert sales pitch]"

I really don't know where exactly I stand on issues like this. Similar to the "sin taxes" and huge warning labels put on cigarettes/booze/whatever in attempts to get people to not use them, they just artificially drive prices up and (probably) don't dissuade anyone from actually using the products. Another gray area is seatbelt laws, what right does the gov't have to tell me to be safe with my own life? I can certainly understand if it were to have a positive effect on others lives, but that seems a little over invasive.

FWIW, I am actually a SUV owner (third vehicle). They are indispensable at times, but probably unnecessary others. Is the right answer to ban them all together, ABSOLUTELY NOT. To some extent higher gas prices are automatically putting the "sin tax" on them without any gov't regulation, so hopefully people that truly need them will get them and those that don't will find them less attractive. I just don't like gov't trying to micromanage peoples personal choices.

While there may be some truth in that statement, it is just a factless plug for who you (apparently) want to be the next president.

From your logic, any "old guy" doesn't know beans about computers and is still stuck in the technological stone age. Granted McCain may not be in an industry that directly relies on cutting edge technology but to solely use his age as a measuring stick for his technological competency is ridiculous.

Even as a person who makes his living in the "tech industry" I would much prefer my candidates to focus on what I consider the most important issues. For me its the economy and reducing gov't spending/power. Granted neither are going to reduce gov't power/spending that much, but that is what I want my president to do.

Just to throw my political $.02 in about the Middle East, since that always gets brought up. Bottom line is its complex. Doesn't matter what either one says, we aren't "getting out" but we may reduce and refocus...but if anyone promises to be completely out by [timeframe] just go ahead and start up your list of failed campaign promises right there...and both sides will probably have a long list of those.

In closing, I'm not really happy with either candidate. I've got an idea of who I may vote for but it seems as thought I will (yet again) be voting for the lesser of two evils.

Our entire system is designed to teach people to be unfair to one another.
Mostly true. One on hand, we get caught up in words saying that "all people are created equal" which, IMHO, in a sense they are. However, that means that all people are created with the same basic rights, etc. What it doesn't mean is that all people have equal abilities. People do have natural (dis)abilities. So in a sense, the deck is stacked for/against people the moment they are born.

...Or, it is even encouraged - especially in the mentality expressed in sports programs.
I know it goes both ways, but I don't like the fact that we try to artificially put everyone on a level playing field when the playing field never is, was or will be level. I feel this way about most aspects of life. We try to legislate equality in the wrong ways. Analogy time...even if Yao Ming and Mini-Mee had never played basketball in their life, who do you think would win that matchup? Why do we, metaphorically, try to make it so that Mini-Mee can compete by again, metaphorically, making Yao play with one arm behind his back...or if he still wins, both arms?

I think my point is that sports (while some may dislike/not understand) generally point out that we are in fact different, and if we are at a disadvantage then we have to work harder or smarter to beat our opponents...just like in real life. Except in sports, the rules are the same for everyone...which is what I wish real life were more like.

While I would certainly prefer a homemade burger, there are times that I actually do crave a McDonalds burger too...but that usually happens after said "chugging" event.

Concerning the people at your brew pub, there are many ways to interpret their behavior. People always get a little defensive over something they put a lot of time and effort into. But that doesn't justify their behavior, especially toward people who may not know any better.

We all have different tastes, preferences, and knowledge. How we impart those thoughts/feelings to others are as unique and varied as the thoughts/feelings themselves.
