I recently (a few days ago) upgraded my Athlon 64 2500 to a Core 2 Duo 2.5ghz. I have a GeForce 7800GTX.
Prior to my upgrade I could get framerates in Quake 4 of about 30fps at 1280x1024 with "Medium Quality". Now I can get a constant (I mean constant, no drops at all) 60fps in 1920x1200 in "High Quality". Seems like a performance improvement to me.
And no I'm not a fanboy, I frequently change between manufacturers based on what I read and hear at the time. Sticking with one brand because "they're awesome" rather than "they perform better" is just childish.
Tuesday Night in Aus/NZ:( Means I have to find something else to do after 9:30pm. Sucks even more when they have extended maintenance. You yanks have it easy since most of you are either in bed or heading off to work/school/whatever, not primetime like other regions of the globe.

...and thus will be completely wiped out by a virus originating from a dirty telephone.
Seriously though...
You don't NEED to use an analog cable to exploit the so-called "analog hole". Cam rips are performed by sneaking a portable video camera into a theater--ie. dark noisy environment, people walking in front of the camera, having to hide the camera occasionally, camera tilted or wobbly, etc.
What's stopping pirates from just pointing a higher quality camera mounted on a tripod at a widescreen TV? Or even a nice projector setup in their own home! This way they can control the video and get it just how they want--and seriously how hard is it to simply record your digital optical out into nice surround sound?
The point is this--at some point the consumer needs to be able to see and/or hear the content. Once you have a picture displayed and/or audio played, it's game over for all DRM schemes.
The only way I see of DRM being completely successful is to not supply the consumer with anything at all.
This could be seen as both a good and bad thing however.
For the first part, clicking in the Firefox address bar and saying "google free porn" is going to attract some odd looks from your roommate the next day.
On the flip side, as you said, it frees up both hands...:)
... the story title totally misleads people into thinking that Thunderbird itself has been dropped.
Perhaps a better title would be:
"Thunderbird 1.0.1 dropped, 1.0.2 on the way"
or
"Thunderbird postponed to version 1.0.2"
They don't deliver pictures as clearly as traditional tube TVs do.
Well, no shit.
Any person who walks into the hifi section of a department store and immediately picks an expensive TV without comparing the quality of the (usually) 20+ tvs on display is either WAY too rich for their own good, or has zero sense when it comes to shopping.
On another note, my flatmate has a 17" CRT monitor and he swears by it. His argument for not getting an LCD? "Show me an LCD monitor that can display black properly."
Regardless of whether black is black or a very dark gray, my 19" LCD still outperforms his CRT in brightness and clarity, and with a 12ms response time it's great for games too.
Security was also another area where there significant differences remain between the two operating systems.
Notice he doesn't actually say WHICH is the better?

There's also a Firefox plugin that lets you choose "bugmenot" from the context menu.
Strange that this should be on slashdot when I only found out about bugmenot.com about a week ago:)
Well I don't know about other countries, but in Australia it's illegal to operate a mobile phone while driving (unless it's hands-free), and I believe it's also illegal to have a TV or similar device in a car in view of the driver (ie. they can be in the headrests for the back passengers).
The ability to watch TV on these devices is going to cause some serious legal issues if they ever take off here (unlikely).

Well, better than Britney Spears at least.
Make that a Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz, sorry.

Of course, en-masse bra manipulation has already been proven using a Bambleweeny 57 Sub-Meson Brain and a Brownian Motion producer (a nice hot cup of tea).a llnumber=mf458

Great!!!
I'll still use Firefox.

Just a thought...
> It has nothing to do with how many notes. It's whether it's marginally creative....a consumer would argue that silence is inherently not creative.
Does this mean that Britney Spears is uncopyrightable?
So I can expect this around March or April?
Not everyone lives in the northern hemisphere you know.
"3rd Quarter" is just as easy to say as "Fall".

Anyone notice in this pic how it mentions SpyNet? :)
Sounds a little too much like SkyNet to me
You could always use the one-wheeled version from South Park...
