Those are called "Pen and Paper Roleplaying Games", son.
Dungeons and Dragons is the most popular one. If it seems superficially similar to WoW, it is because it predates it for 30 years and many of the WoW concepts were inspired by it.
That reminds me, I must find a nice statue for my Eladrin Wizard.:)
My WoW minis Kael'thas Sunstrider model is perfect but it's a tad too large.

I wonder if this might lead to a dual-licensing for ZFS so it might be possible to use in linux.
Although it's unlikely, I certainly hope so. I currently use ZFS on FUSE on my server, but I only use it for a mirrored backup (FUSE performance isn't up to scratch for a 10 terabyte system, in my opinion). If I really wanted to go hardcore ZFS (which I'd love) I'd switch to OpenSolaris.
I love the fact that I threw in two new drives and created a mirrored filesystem instantly with one command. No formatting required.:)
Personally, when I see someone using the wrong homonym, like "the ball is in there court", it has a negative effect on my opinion of their intelligence. The same goes for the misuse of apostrophes; WHY do people think you need an apostrophe for a plural?
A language Nazi after my own heart. I applaud thee.;) <3
God did it when he made Eve from the rib [cells] of Adam. This is nothing new or remarkable. But, because God did it, we shouldn't... just like flight and other technologies man has managed to understand the develop. Have I said that right? What say you "Religious Right"?
I'm not sure whether this should be modded Funny, Insightful, or Flamebait. Saying "God did something" on Slashdot is a dangerous thing. ;)
I've re-purposed a computer as a backup server, which lives at my parents house. It runs Ubuntu, with ZFS running over FUSE. Each night, a scripted CRON event will run zpool scrub on my storage pool, and if there is a problem, it will send me a text.
Very close to what I'm running, except I don't have an automatic script at the moment since I only copy data to the filesystem occasionally. It's running on two raptor drives as a mirrored vdev.
I currently have two raptor drives with a mirrored ZFS setup that I use only for backups. I take snapshots regularly so that if a file gets deleted or overwritten I can just roll it back. Again, this is just for backups. I work on my desktop PC and copy documents, etc. over to my server once a week or so.
It does the job and the redundancy is comforting.
Developers aren't the problem. People keep saying 'developers' in this thread when they mean 'publishers'. Developers write code and debug physics engines, they don't set prices or worry about second tier markets.
FINALLY someone gets it. I'm a "developer" because I design, code, and debug software. I have absolutely no say when it comes to pricing and all that rubbish.
Everyone please mod this story "publishers" and "!developers".
I was going to RTFA but my other personality was too depressed. NO I WASN'T! Yes he was!
Shut up you two! I think you ought to know I'm feeling very depressed...
Why in hell do people continue to pour money into this monstrosity of a software company?
I use Windows because I play PC games, most of which are native to Windows, and Wine just isn't good enough. If not for that, I would have switched to Linux looonngggg ago. Also, who says I pour money into them?;)
The shutdown of Lik-Sang was the kicker for me. It put Sony on the "diaf list" along with Ubisoft and EA. Ubisoft for discontinuing Dark Messiah support, and EA for disbanding Origin.
So what happens if a game gets released on Steam which is "refused classification"? What are they going to do... block every Steam content server? The big name ISPs in Australia all have their own content servers, usually unmetered.
Defective by design indeed.
Once publishers manage to get acceptance for the idea that a game constantly needs to have an online connection...
If you bothered to keep up with gaming news, you'd know that SC2 will now have an offline mode (or something similar) which disables your friends list and achievements, but still allows you to play peer-to-peer.

If it's anything remotely like Steam, that's good enough for me.
But of course, your argument is null and void if you have a sonic screwdriver handy. ;)

Or, "The Dark Eternal Night". ;)

Ah thank you for clearing that up.
The CO2 from your breath is not the problem. The CO2 from your tailpipe is.
I was of the understanding that vehicle exhaust is carbon MONoxide, ie. CO
Unless it produces both and I'm mistaken...

If by that you mean "saying no to it", I applaud you. :)
Lua is the only way to program.

The project will not be complete until they have a logo with Tux the Linux Penguin lofting a good German beer.
Coming up soon, Tuxzenfest!
