Try as I might, but I can't think of one single culture that has been entirely destroyed by drugs. I agree with the rest of your post, but that statement was a bit over the top.
Sure you can. Use a wireles A/V Transmitter/Reciever and hook your tv in the livingroom up to the tv out on your vid card wirelessly. Use a IR extender to send remote control signals to the PC in the other room. Viola
Get another A/V reciever and IR extender and the PC can run the TV in the bedroom too.
How good is the quality going to be with a 7Mp camera phone? The optics can't be that good. If the camera has crap optics then it wont matter if the camera has a high res ccd or cmos, the picture will still be blurred crap, it'll just take more space to store it and more bandwith to transfer it.
This wasn't LCD, this was flat CRT. One peice of glass would be printed with the phosphors and the other would be printed with electron emmiters, one for each pixel. So instead of having one electron gun at the back of a tube scanning across and down, each pixel is stimulated by a emmiter dedicated to that one pixel. CRT performance with LCD thickness.
I read a story on/. last year about Flat panel CRTs that were going to be made using two peices of glass and a inkjet type process for printing the phosphors and whatnot on the glass. This story claimed that a 50 inch display would cost under $300 US and production would begin in 2005.
The PID-640 thing is not true. I have tested this myself on several machines (as well as some VPC installs) using XP Pro Corp and keys generated by XPKeys

I am the IT cheif on a 300ft fishing vessel. We are in the process of rolling out a wireless network that will cover 90 percent of the areas on the boat. The network will be used by administration, engineering, the deck department, the galley and the processing staff.
One of the selling points for this network was VoIP using Pocket PC based PDAs or SIP phones. While I have found several freeware clients, I have yet to find a windows based sip server that I can test (a trial period). Merlin 1.1 is available but they seem to have abandoned it as far as the trial is concerned because it has to connect to a internet server before it will install and the server is always unavailable.
But wouldn't those things make for a pretty innefective "P2P" network?
One of the things that makes current P2P schemes most effective is the openess with which it is done. Evevrybody shares with everybody else.
If you can only share with a selected few people who you can be 100 percent sure you can trust, then you would have nowhere near the content available, making your little private network..... well,... Crappy.
I saw an article on slashdot about flat panel CRTs made using inkjet technology to print on glass. The article claimed sub $500 large screen flat panel high definition displays within 3 years. I can't find the story now. Anyone got a link?
If "the rest of the majority of the world" realizes that something must be done, but still says "don't", then there is no "WE" is there?
Who then is ignoring the wrondoing that was occuring in Iraq, essentially giving the acts their blessing? "The rest of the majority of the world" thats who.
Quit being a bunch of pussies sitting around watching the bad things happen, protesting in the streets of your own country telling your leaders "something must be done!" but not allowing anything to actually be done.
Saddam and his like don't give a rats ass about your protest signs and chants that you raise in the streets of your own country. You people must realize that sometimes force must be applied to affect change. War is sometimes the only means to acheive peace.
The display is not directly in front of you. It is up and to the right a bit and appears to float out in front of you. All you have to do is glance at it. You don't even have to change the focus of your eyes.
It does not create a blind spot directly in front of you. On top of that it is semi-transparent.
How about designing a display mounted on the motorcycle instead?
We have that already, and what is distracting is having to look down at the instuments when your going 75Mph on a busy freeway.
This HUD will be awesome as long as it is unobtrusive. From the pictures, it looks like it's not directly in your feild of vision, it'll be just about like your Hud in an FPS game. Sweet!
You and the parent posts just keep repeating the axiom: "I created it, therefore I control it."
That is in no way what I said. What I said was more like "I created it, therefore I should be compensated for my time and effort if I choose to allow you to use it." You are correct that once it is released to the public I have given up control of it. This is especially true for music and software.
If I create a peice of software that has value when it is used, and I release that software to the public saying "This software will do such and such. The price of this software is such and such." Are you saying that I should not be compensated for my time and effort to create a work that you derive value from?
Is it different because I am not right there in front of you creating it specifically for you? How is this any different from stiffing a cabinet maker for the work he did in your kitchen? He (the cabinet maker) took time and effort to create something that you find useful. Should he not be compensated for it as well?
If you show it to someone, how does it follow that it would be intrinsically morally wrong if they made a copy of it?
Because it's his work and you don't have his permission to copy it. His time and effort went into creating it and if he chooses to charge for it and you don't pay but copy and use it anyway.... You are stealing from him. No if ands or buts about it.
It is not wrong to copy it just because you created it. You seem to have a false sense of entitlement.
Why do you say that? He created it. He chooses to charge for it. If you don't pay him for the right to use it but use it anyway, you are taking money from him. If you don't want to pay, create your own code. Once you've done that, once you've taken the time and energy to create something and someone takes it without your permission (just because they (you) have a false sense of entitlement) you might change your tune, especially if your livelyhood depends on getting paid for what you create.
It's funny, after the centuries of philosophical debate over right and wrong through history, that this particular concept of having rights over distributing copies didn't pop up until the 17th century.
Probably because before that there wasn't much to copy or any good way to copy it. Really now, how can you compare something as fast and simple as copying software in this day and age, to something as difficult and time consuming as copying books or paintings in the 17th century?

It has some interesting features like MD5 & Tiger Tree hash verification and user comment system. It connects to EDonkey as well as Gnutella 1 & 2 and also works as a Bit Torrent client.
I've been using it for about 6 months now and have only once recieved a file that was something other than what it was named (that was my fault for not reading the comments attached to the file by other users). One of the features I really like is that it works with the links provided by ED2KLinks.com and ShareReactor.com.
It is a resource hog, but if you've got a extra box you can run it on, it's worth it. I regularly see my total DL bandwidth rise above 1.5 Mb/s.

If this passes it will only be a matter of time before commercials are inserted into DVD (or whatever media comes about) movies.
Anyone know whats happening with that?
Actually HDCP stands for High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection. It can be implemented over DVI, HDMI, Firewire or any other high-bandwidth pipe.
I have several of the games on that list. I also have No CD cracks for all of them. Starforce is my Bitch!

X11 is to Linux as Windows 1.x - ME is to DOS.
Misspelt? Realised? How does it feel to put your foot in your mouth?

Sorry, no linux client though.
Dude, the preffered nomenclature is "water pipe".
