"Maybe I'm paranoid, but..." I don't think anyone (in the military or government) would be talking about it if we didn't already have one or two generations of that technology under our hat, but above our heads in orbit.
waiting for my tin-foil hat auction on ebay to end...
Does yours ever crash? Mine will lock up while I'm scrolling through the guide data. I just move the battery off the contact for three seconds and it is good for another month...
Let's put some of those puppies in the platform on the Dance-Dance Revolution games in all the arcades in Japan. They'll become a world superpower by providing it!
That assumes a lot. Particularly that whatever ISP (Earthlink?) they're buying dialin slots in bulk from even bothers with it. Why bother? The authentication is all based on the serial number hardcoded on TiVo's motherboard.
The NSA is holding him in a basement somewhere, forcing him to write exploits and other nefarious things for them. In exchange, he gets a few animal crackers and a blanket every night.
Yeah, it's free. And all you need to get started with it is Quicktime Broadcaster, (Also free) and a *nix box running Quicktime Streaming Server. So I guess the big cost would be, what? A low-end (say, a G4 iMac to do the initial encoding and send the audio stream to the QTSS box for mass distribution. Oh, and a few brain cells.
Spaceballs Producer Mel Brooks cleared things with Lucas ahead of time. Lucas said OK, and "just" asked that Brooks not market Spaceballs toys, lunchboxes, flamethrowers, etc... This is why that scene in the film exists where they meet Yogurt, and he says, "Merchandising... Where the real money from the movie is made!"
Manners at the dinner table? Like, lying about property you own that you really don't? Attempting to extort money from companies that are operating legitimately, forcing them to waste time (and money) with this nonsense? I'll have a second helping of tactful directness, please.
Ok, then, so just out of curiosity, do you place more blame on the agents for being shady, or for being incompetant? Same question regarding the judge(s).

Not shiney, you blithering idiot, SHINY. And by the way, not "SHINY," but BLINKY! I turn off the lights at night and watch the blinkies go on and off! Sometimes I even put my so-called "shackle" into diagnostic mode and watch the test lights go blinkey, too! (It looks damn cool on a T68i)
By the way, I can't see myself messing with one of these RFID things for the near-term, but I've gotta say, better to wear it AROUND your wrist than INSIDE it.
Slashdot has posted several articles on how close we are to having strong enough material for this... But isn't part of the space elevator a huge-ass asteroid in orbit?
The servers hosting (and the bandwidth) those videos are probably comparable with the supercomputer itself just to handle all of us connecting to it...
And after reading this sort of thing, do we wonder at all why there are people in Homeland Security starting to flap their gums about regulating IT at a Federal level?
Don't we still have the right to make a backup of any software we buy? Is there anything ELSE that will run the TiVo software? (no) So why not be able to download it if you were stupid and didn't back up? (like me) So when my drive(s) crash, I get to frantically search for a backup somewhere or pay for a new unit when I could fix this myself...
We've all read on/. how a few companies whose identities were not released, paid SCO. Let's hope they nail SCO into the ground when the case is dismissed, if at all possible.

Original sequence? Will buy.

Really? Sounds like abuse to me. How many times have you called your DA to encourage an investigation? You, yourself?

You forgot copper wire mesh. Like they use for faraday cages and the like.
I sense some undue influence from Mr. Walden...
