"Add into the mix one guy who watches too much wrestling and one gal who re-lived her first Backstreet Boys concert by wetting herself and you'll being looking for video of the whole thing"

He would be the perfect person to study the health effects of long term space travel. That way humans would not only know what to expect on a trip to say Mars, but humans perhaps could come up with ways to counteract any sort of negative effects that space travel has on the human body.
I think most economists would say a gas tax (or more generally, a carbon tax) is the most efficient way to spur adoption of renewable energy sources. Otherwise, you're hoping the government can pick technological winners and losers. (While reps are getting nice contributions from the farm lobby.)
Come up to Canada sometime. We have Provinical and Federal gas taxes that add up to almost half the cost of gas. Until recently, that money (which amounted to hundreds of millions of dollars)just disappeared into a black hole. Now it's being applied to roads, public transit, etc. Somewhat forward thinking wouldn't you say?
There was a case of a guy downloading child pron in Toronto by driving around at night and finding open WiFi networks (You know the ones.... Their SSID's are Linksys and Default). Apparently when he was caught, he was naked from the waist down looking at explicit images. (Ooh. Bad image)
I point this out as I used to work for a VAR that sold WiFi products to businesses who would just order the products and throw them up onto their network rather than pay us to come in and properly install and secure the environment (which was usually Windows based). When this happened and I pointed it out to them that this could be them (or something worse might happen, such as the cops knocking on your door because they traced the downloads to their net connection), they changed their tune in a hurry and let us secure the networks.
Places like Best Buy should hand this article out to their customers. That would reduce the problem in a hurry.
Has anyone considered that for many large corporate web users that M$ is perceived as the standard? For example, aircanada.com refuses to let you order tickets or do anything remotely interesting unless you're running a recent copy of IE. Perhaps our energies are better used making companies like that understand that it is in their best interests to support non-M$ browsers rather than try to make M$ see the light.
is that it now comes with gigabit ethernet. It basically makes this machine usable in a variety of environments such as graphic arts and rich media where throwing around tons of data is a daily fact of life.
.... Because there's a story out today that says that 50% of Canadians who have an HD TV don't have a set-top box to actually get HD. 16% of those don't even realize they need one.
..... One has to wonder about the personal rights implications. I know that some are going to say that sex offenders have no rights and I agree with that to a point. Somebody from the ACLU is going to argue that having somebody's exact location 24/7 could considered to be unreasonable to some degree.
Another consideration.... How does this help if the sex offender is where he's supposed to be, but a child is with him? It doesn't IMHO.
WalMart can't nail him for being critical of their company (one of many who are it should be noted), so they use the DMCA to get him. All the really have done is increase his visiblity. I've sent his URL and the/. link to at least ten people since this was posted on/. and I am certian that others will forward my e-amil as well. I suspect others will do the same. Now he's got the attention a a much bigger audience.
Perhaps they should have left him alone. Then this wouldn't be an issue to them.
The 407 expressway in Toronto Canada uses a similar system to bill users of the toll highway who don't have government supplied transponders. The system simply snaps a photograph of the rear plate when at the cars entry and exit point on the highway. The system seems to work well although I have heard of people using everything from mud to complicated rigging that flips their licence plate up to avoid being billed.
