It's not really harder to fill out the forms by hand. And its an issue of the vulnerability of electronic filing that I am concerned with. Somebody has to key in the figures, so it might as well be done by the IRS rather than me. What makes life easier for them also makes it easier for the scammers.
We have to stop thinking of ourselves as being subservient to our bureaucratic overlords.
Not just because it's much less likely to be hacked. I just want the IRS to feel some pain trying to read my chicken-scratch handwriting to make up for what I feel when handing them my money.
IRS motto: We've got what it takes to take what you've got.
But then the 1996 Telecom Act quietly changed the ownership of metadata from the subscriber to service providers. And many of these service providers have moved all their customer information offshore (try to call customer service without being connected to Rajiv). So that raw data is available (and has been used) to do link analysis, the results of which are for sale. Adversaries can figure out who works with or for whom. And where they are at any given time using this analysis applied to cell phone records as well as land lines..
Given that the government (and specifically the DoD) hasn't said shit about this and asked for a legislative change, I doubt anyone will dare upsetting GE. Intel and AT&T by threatening this new profit center either.
A group of geologists believe it is time to name a new continent.
And seek funds to study it. It's not like they wouldn't look at it had in only been some interesting structures on the ocean floor. But now they can request a separate package of funding under it's own name.
Nope. Different composition entirely. Continental plates ate lighter and 'float' on top of the mantle (exact details will better be explained by a real geologist). But the composition of continents and ocean floor is different.
There are bits of ocean floor that just happen to be above sea level and are dry land. Zeelandia, on the other hand, is a continental plate that is largely submerged.
Because now you can't go out, buy your own device and plug the SIM card into it. You need to have your carrier 'provision' it. If they feel like doing so.
But a CRT isn't a typical vacuum tube. They only work by steering a straight beam of electrons to the phosphor. Any gas molecules will scatter those electrons and defocus the beam. So CRTs do in fact have very high vacuums inside them.
First, drop tax rates. Maybe to 5% max. Next, make the tax a gross revenue tax (my state already levies one of these at a low rate). Finally, allow only one deduction: W-2 wages paid to US persons.

If only he were around now
He's not dead. He just gave up political satire after Henry Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize.
