Not in California and I am sure that other states are far more lenient,!
They are more than lenient about driving the car without registration for the first 7 days I believe. Than you have to mail your portion of the pink slip in that dated time to the DMV, in fact they usually allow 30 days and than the DMV send you a notice about registration for the car. The DMV even follows your car insurance that in case you cancel or do not pay(I know) they send you a warning notice to fix it or have your liscense temporary suspended.
Michael Phelp was making something like $5 million a year in endorsements starting recently. After the Olympics he will make something like $30 million.
I think a lot of these guys see money in the future as being a coach, being the coach is where they ultimately want to be or open up their own pool. That coach won a gold medal, I want my kid to be taught by him and I am willing to pay good money.
Actually they do have laws or code enforcement for these things
Too many cans of food? There are laws against people like this, we call them 'pack rats'. They build up so much crap in the house that it becomes a danger to them or any firefighters that might have to respond to a fire to that house. On the contrary I had a mormon friend who had a garage full of toliet paper and canned food, I guess they prepare for the 'end of days' scenario but they also stack it so it is not a fire/falling hazard. When we wanted to go toliet paper someones house, well we knew to stop by our mormon friends house for a restock.
Too much ammunition stored? Yes, like the one above you become a safety hazard to others, firefighters and most likely laws. Depends on the state and most likely your distance from other residents.
Too many pets? Funny story about a lady who had well over 40 cats and we used to call her 'the cat lady', she was one of those super overweight ladies who loved animals too much. One day the SPCA and Health Code department was over there telling her she had to get rid of a majority of her cats and to clean up the place. She was a pack rat and had stuff stacked up to the ceiling just waiting to catch on fire.
Too many kids? They have this thing called 'social workers' and they come to investigate whether you can take care of the children and whether you should be able to keep them. The mormons have proved that you can have two vans full of children and no laws against that.
Thank god common sense prevails than what you said though.
Don't endanger my kids with your oversized hobbyist lab and take your hobbyist industrial size complex out of my 'residental zone'. He isn't allowed to do that work in that zone, end of story.
Don't be so naive when saying they are choosing safety over the success of this great nation, there are plenty of places to do your chemistry work and cheap industrial zones.
Also I think this article is more 'Fear Mongering' than anything, it is working everyone up around here that we are in a police state at the moment and showing schizophrenia comments around here.
You should watch the HBO/BBC documentary 'Baghdad Hospital' of the intense horror that goes on. Blowing up bombs right in the middle of children playing in the street and it is filmed by an Iraqi ER doctor, very intense footage of the aftermath and how they have to deal with hundreds of severe injuries. 'Baghdad High' is another good one also and lets you see these high school kids graduate through their own video recordings.
I live in Southern California and work construction so 90% of our workforce is Mexican almost, I go drinking with these guys after work. Talking to them they even acknowledge that is out of control over there and corruption is bad, getting worse in Tijuana everyday and now they bring in federal troops. They disarmed the entire Tijuana police force and matched guns to other killings/executions, so to protest the Tijuana police carried around slingshots for awhile. We still go to Mexico but nobody travels at night anymore and you stick to the coast more these days, the people are very nice and welcoming down there. Additionaly I go down to pick up some valium and other pills from their pharmacy because of the cheapness, great fireworks also.
The Mexicans work here while partially supporting their families, than they go home and live like kings over there. While at the same time using county facilities for health care and people wonder why they are shutting down hospitals constantly while cutting funds also. I am very against hiring illegals but I have seen them at several jobsites and what we call a Mexican Backhoe, just a bunch of laborers moving lots of dirt by shovel.
America has done far more to help Mexicans out than they can even imagine, from private donations, aid, military training, subsidizing military equiptment, tourisim and I have built homes down there with my church for several years. Also during WW2 they could have had a paved highway from California all the way down South to Cabo, but they refused and it shows to this day how it affects their transportation and economy. You will notice that most of the people living by the coast or by the California border live in relatively nice conditions which is allowed by our economy. Same thing almost with Canadians, they enjoy the close economic success of us Americans along the border.
Mexico has deeper problem like Americans buying property over there only to have to turn it back over to the government after 100 years or shady lease signings, that does not add an incentive to stay in the country. Several car companies are also pulling their factories from Mexico most notably Volkswagon I think.
Mexcio has to solve its own problems and blaming the gringo for taking your land is not going to help, their own land is so polluted and corrupt that we probably saved Southern California from an ecological disaster.
Yah the PS3's media network works flawlessly and I can stream movies from my PC to the PS3 with beautiful quality to my TV, in the next 2 years I hope to get a wide screen 42"+ hopefully. Same thing with my buddies 360 and since I setup his streaming for him on it, he uses it all the time now. It is so simple to just drop videos in the My Documents/Videos and have it show up in the list.
For all the crap that I have tryed to setup over the years for a home theater PC and video cards that I could never get fully working to serve up my movies, the PS3/360 have made it magnitudes easier especially with the wireless setup. The movie theaters look less appealing everyday as big screens get cheaper and friends start to have them, hell even my Time Warner OnDemand has a huge library of hundreds of movies, documents and entire seasons of good shows on OnDemand.
Actually to put it more into perspective, they recently had a celebrity scrabble tournament and Jimmy Kimmel whooped them all. Hasbro has taken notice to this and sponsorship is coming. Scrabble is sort of making a comeback in some niche way and talking to the toy store owner he said they have been getting more request for the game, they been selling like hotcakes.
Having said that I think Hasbro's Scrabble Deluxe is a lot better and easier on the eye,Yahoo's is a little better but only played trial. Scrabulous was fun to play since you could do it on the webpage and it was free. Although it didn't seemed polished in some areas, the 'Shuffle' and 'Hint' with Scrabble Deluxe is a nice add on that Scrabulous could use, also finding multiplayers is a little slow at times.
I think that would be dumb for Hasbro to buy these guys out when they could probably develope it themselves and most likely a little more polished. It would be like Warner Brothers asking some guy who downloaded a copy of their movie if they could buy it from him, I guess.
Either way just make the 40% change required to void the patent and make the product stand alone by itself.
A N T R U T R - I can only get 'rant' out of that, im stuck
Openoffice's problems go a lot deeper and telling people to "So try and work on that" doesn't work because I have no idea how to solve it or code.
Vista's problems were more related to it being bloat not being able to run on older hardware and bad drivers. Those problems can be solved easily because over time hardware gets cheaper and the specs improve. Secondly the driver problem you cannot tell people "So try and work on that" will not work. What we do know how to do is bitch to the video card companies Nvidia/ATI and to get them on their asses to get out better Vista drivers. ATI was on top of the game of Vista drivers but Nvidia needed to get their asses wooped a little bit in the PC Gaming forums. Nvidia got the message alright and unfortunately most of the driver priority is going into Vista drivers now, the performance in gaming is almost at XP levels but still has the 15% drag on FPS/performance. Nvidida seems to have the better and stabler drivers now on Vista than ATI, I almost had to retire using Ctrl+Alt+Del(Ctrl+Shift+Esc new way to get task manager in Vista)
The negative perception on Vista came that it was released too early, too much bloat and lack of drivers. All of which has been fixed now now as hardware manufacturers have caught up. This has all been discussed a million times in any PC forum and all the gaming forums, it is just the opinion on the facts were a little slow around here. Some people just have bigger priorities in life than to worry about Vista, as with dozens of my buddies who have bought laptops give the usual "I haven't noticed anything wrong with Vista, but I heard....". It is always those ones who have the "I heard Vista was the worst thing ever and worse than ME". I see real world results that different with the opinion here by a lot.
No offense but you don't represent the target market and you might want to take a stroll down FRY's aisles to get caught up on 1GB $20 RAM, just don't buy a couple happy meals and you can upgrade.
The low-end market will catchup. Why? Because hardware gets dirt cheap after a year or two.
I kow it truly is some candyass shit and lazyness.
Personally I am sad that people like these are a drag on society, no wonder we are getting fatter and less productive. Cannot handle a little roadside cleanup labor, no wonder we have these fools who sit in front of the computer with their snickers bar and diabetes galore.
The OCTA (Orange County Transportation Authority, CA) has converted their whole fleet of buses to natural gas(CNG), they got the blue ribbon or somethingn like that. Anyways it is nice to be behind them now and not get blast of smog.
Los Angeles busing system is on its way to natural gas also, but far too slowly. Others around the nation are following suit also as it seems to be the most efficent way to keep a bus running all day long.
I don't know how much fuel/electricity the fueling stations use, but the generators alone are enormous but have to be more efficent than all those buses stop/go traffic all day. The delivery of the natural gas is by some Texas firm and it comes on a 18 wheeler that has a massive storage tank on it, I set my video recorder on hoping to catch an accident on film while this guy stands there filling it with all his safety gear off.
I work with a construction firm that installs these stations and we have been noticing massive increases in these projects to bid on.
That is why they usually go down or hire a bounty hunter to go get the suspect themselves in these countries, a little harder these days with all flights being monitored.
Brazil I think had several Nazis who hid there after WW2 were captured and brough back for justice, it is corrupt as hell down there and fairly easy to get your suspect as long as they are white.
Add to it now they have video recorders on these tasers the second they are pulled from the holster, I would love to have that video as evidence as long as the officer keeps it pointed at the suspect to record it.
Side story on 4th of July had a buddy who got a little rowdy at a bar and they removed him from the bar, but apparently he resisted and the lady officer used the cattle type taser on him. He said it wasn't that bad and went limp but was pissed, but it will easily get written off apparently because it was innapropriate. I would post the video we recorded with the cellphone but it is sloppy and the comments are from a bunch of drunks so it is gibberish. Whether he deserved it is a little hard to say but the other option might have been mace or a hard throw down to the ground which always leaves a nice scar the next day on the face. Tasers aren't nice but drunks are even more beligerant.
There are more and more videos of these 'taser recorded incidents out there', it is interesting to analyze them and see how officers react. Officers I have talked to say that criminals are a lot more responsive now during arrest if you tell them they will be tazered.
I have high hope for hostage situations as now they can fire a taser sniper round or something to take out a suspect and save hostages. Incident I recall a disturbed fater holding his little girl hostage with a gun to her head out here in Los Angeles, he started opening fire on a SWAT team and used the little girl as a human shield. She died unfortunately and the situation could have been handled better, but since it was in a small industrial areas they could have shot the guy with a taser. Incident just yesterday a Inglewood,California officer was involved in a lethal shooting of a postal employee who ansewered his door with a gun, unfortunately a week earlier the same officer had leathelly shot an unarmed guy also. Investigation going on right now why the officer was still on duty, it just goes on and on.
You will have to excuse me but I got my PhD at Discovery Channel.
But I remember all the silt at the bottom basically building up a thick jelly layer of this stuff, eventually plate tectonics push this under and under perfect warm temperatures it becomes oil.
So why not bury it and have it all sucked under by plate tectonics, or maybe even send all this stuff into the core. Although some of this stuff finds its way back up through vents on volcanoes I believe.
The point is Microsoft has something to fall back on to keep their other assets afloat.
Yahoo is at a dead end and no other markets to really pull them out of this hole that Google hasn't already conquered or that is in beta, it is holding onto a legacy audience who are much like the AOL audience
I always say to the Yahoo defenders these days, put your money where your mouth is and invest in their stocks. Yahoo has not really 'Yahoo'd!!' me into getting into their products or services. Sorry just cold hard truth.
It was Battlefield 1942 and I used a cd crack since day one the game was released, Daemon tools made it even easier when I just made an image of the CD and loaded it from my hard drive. It didn't bother me though since I had a dvd burner drive and my old cd burner drive, I just left the Battlefield 1942 in the cd burner drive since I never used it. Starforce was not used on the Battlefield series, just simple cd check which could be avoided with 1MB worth of files that it scans to look for on the CD/DVD.
You missed out on one of the greatest war games ever along with its free mods and Battlefield 2 stepped it up a notch but required a cd in the drive. Desert Combat the mod for BF1942 was basically a whole other game in itself but was completely free, the mod team got bought out by EA or one of its entities but they are still good these days. I bought Battlefield 2142 on EA Downloader and have never had to bother with a CD/DVD again, I even went over to my buddies house and downloaded the entire game within an hour for him to play.
The Soviets didn't have enough sense to cancel the concept, they just didn't have enough money. Too bad they didn't have enough sense to stop the crazy spending on space development that bankrupted their country, I don't know if I would be proud of something that basically caused the civilian population to suffer over the short filled thrill of being first.
Actually I remember watching a Discovery Channel or History Channel episode where they had an actual glide flight of the shuttle like vehicle the Soviets built, they showed pictures of it and the screen switched to a Russian scientist standing in front of a giant rocket being built talking about it.
In the end though I think America came out with more practical results and will be remembered more in history for what they did in space than the Soviets.
Agreed.
Why can't they pull up the seat when taking a piss in one of the porta-potties?
