  1. (Offtopic) MesaGL does it on Q3Test in "a few weeks" · · Score: 1

Internet Explorer is dynamically linked. (thus .dll). But that should not be an issue if you use a free OS right?

It might be good to note that most linux netscapes in most current distrubtions are statically linked. This is to help with compatiblity problems (Motif) and speed (yes it could be faster).

If your patching the kernel inside /usr/src/linux
Then instead of patch -p0 above, use patch -p1

That's all. (Remember all offical kernel patch releases are incremenatal patches - so you have to patch one after the other).

EG: if you have kernel 2.2.1 and wish to go up to 2.2.5. You have to patch your current kernel, to 2.2.2, 2.2.3, 2.2.4, 2.2.5 in that order.

    Good luck.

I just went through all 14 of the ftpX.us.kernel.org, it seems like half of them still havent got kernel 2.2.5. The ones who got the kernel seem only to have the fat tar ball (10 meg download).

My suggestion to kernel ftp mainterns would be to download the patch before downloading the tar ball. Since most ppl visit your fpt servers to get the patches and not the full load. It might be a wise suggestion to hold the full tar ball 24 hours before releasing (since it would be bound to cause a lot of bandwidth problems).

    Thank you.

    Thanks Zoid,

I was wondering if Q3a would be compiled against Mesa3.x. Since I've been sucessful in running Mesa based application fulls screen on my permedia2 based opengl card under linux. This was using Mesa3.x and mlx (ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/3d/devel/).

I have tried (but failed) at trying to run q2 with my own libs. Is q2 hardcoded to just Mesa2.6?

PS: I just tested out KingPin And oh boy! This is one "fscking" soild game. It's more gripping than Half-Life and has an extreemly soild game story. Not to mention the models seem to be almost real (And chicks rock!). The 100 mb demo is worth the download. Everyone get it!!

Usually it doesnt mean that we hate you or anything. Most of us admire you (seriously) - I for one think you did a good job at Debian. If you find a comment that is abusive and totally against you, just dont reply to it. People love flame wars :)

And just dont go away into nothingness just cause someone ticked you off in slashdot. It wouldnt be wrong to say that most of the people here appericate the work you have done and enjoy having you as a fellow slashdotter (I guess they just like to have fun :))

But overall I trust VA research more than any of the other linux hardware companies. Good job guys. Let this be the site i mention to anyone interested in linux. I'm so sick of telling people to go over to linux.org

Hope to see the site up soon! May I suggest a portal like the moz directory effort? Smaller but somewhat like that with lots of linux related links and news articles. We could even make it an community effort! Think about it. Some of us cant code, but can write well! We would help! If it is for linux.
