I would venture that the main reason behind not buying another hybrid is the lack of helpful tax credits like back in 07-10. Without the tax credit, that extra cost is harder to swallow compared to a non-hybrid version.
The current models are just as bad. I have a brand new G7 on the bench, takes about 8 mins to get through POST. Ugg.. I have a feeling it's partly because of ECC, but there is no way to disable it while your building it. And that thing about getting into the RAID config seriously blows (better off doing it within SmartStart).
I should also add that I find it amusing they are claiming unfair competition and "Defendants' conduct as aforesaid has caused great and irreparable injury to Plaintiff, and unless such conduct is enjoined, it will continue and Plaintiff will continue to suffer great and irreparable injury." Really? A fan site that encourages people to play a GW product is injuring you? Seems that this act of suing is causing more injury to GW than the fansite is..:D
The only legitimate claim I see here is that they are profiting by using the name Warhammer and it's connection to GW's Trademark of Warhammer by having banner ads on the site, which don't appear to be working for me at the moment. The claim of anonymity by shielding their domain registration information is lame, they are only trying to use that to their advantage and claim they knowingly hid their info so they couldn't be found. Last I checked, you could still get that information through legal means. Cybersquatting they are not as the domain name is being used legitimately to host a site and not as a landing page for ads or to just resell the domain for money. But, since they are looking for a trial with a jury, GW will probably be sure to pick the most technologically illiterate people they can to serve on the jury. But, being that this is about a Trademark, GW has to sue regardless of merit or else risk losing the Trademark.
From what I gathered in the article, they didn't tear out their grass to be "environmentally friendly" hippies, it sounds like that was just the overall excuse when really, they just can't afford to throw money at paying to water it. I am sure that if they stopped watering it the city would have had the same reaction to their brown grass. I don't buy the "I wouldn't want to live next to that" excuse since the article stated they erected a fence and planted plenty of plants, it's just that the city treats grass as plants and thus, easily cover the 40% requirement to their liking. I am surprised there wasn't some sort of permit required before they could do their landscaping, then I would understand being fined, but jail time for not having grass? Sounds like something for a higher court to decide on if the city council isn't going to hear their case, trust me, I've seen it happen.
A Sony Vaio is all of a sudden "the best technology available"?? I'm pretty sure they aren't using Red 4k cameras either..
Sounds more like a propaganda piece against P2P networks and open source encryption solutions.
And please, replace Al-Qaeda with "Fundamentalist Group" like it should be. I'm still under the impression that Al-Qaeda is a CIA construct..
municipalities get fed up at the empty promises the Telco's give them about getting them wired, and how they can't make money if the municipality does it themselves.. Given how the Telco's already squandered the millions of dollars that were supposed to be used for upgrading broadband, I would be in favor of locking out Telco's all together. Like hell I am going to pay for my city to upgrade its broadband only to hand it over to a corporation to get neutered, all the while they [the telco] will complain that "this setup sucks, if you had let us install it as we promised, it would have been better!"
You are correct, but the telco's squandered the money on upgrading their cellular networks (and general profits) instead then later said they couldn't afford the upgrades but still raised rates. Not to mention forcing local communities to not deploy their own network, but then they [the telcos] did not bother deploying one either. Also, the constant mergers have also nullified most promised fiber contracts.
When WEG went under financially, they had their Star Wars license pulled by Lucas and it was bought up by WotC. The D6 system WEG used was copyrighted by WEG and is still in use by their remaining games. At the same time, WotC was standardizing their games on the D20 system, which I was never a fan of.
Oh, how I long for the days when I can bring out my D6s and all my sourcebooks. A good part of my early highschool years were dominated by WEG Star Wars RPGing, ah, memories...
What I would like to know is, were is all the money from the "fines" going? Is it going to some legitimate fund for something? Or is this just their way at making extra money for the government?
Be careful, alot of these are manufacture specific, example: the Atheros drivers. I've been hoping to find some Atheros drivers that work in Vista on the Macbook that include a newer version of their Client software (old versions have all options greyed out), but the drivers on this site are for either IBM or Fujitsu laptops. Also keep in mind that many companies, like Atheros, don't release their own drivers publicly and instead rely on the hardware manufacture to maintain them.
You know, it's well with in the schools right to write up their own usage policy that prevents students from using such sites. Its no different than agreeing to your company's network policy that says you can't use their network for personal surfing. We don't need the governemnt to do anything about this, its not the governments job. This is no more than polititions trying to drum up support by telling people what they want to hear. If your a parent concerned about your kid looking at these sites at school, go to the school about it and ask what they are doing to discurage or prevent it, it's their network. This is all too common of a problem now adays, everyone thinks its the governments job to solve everything, yet they turn around and complain about "Big Brother" when people only have themselves to blame for giving the government such control. This is also an ongoing example of parents pawning off responsability to someone else for their kids instead of educating them themselves. You get what you ask for...
Why are all of these lawsuits based on false numbers? $100,000 for a movie that sucked which he may/may not have uploaded. "Who cares, take everything he has, someone has to pay!" Its not like Paramount would ever see that money anyway, it all goes to the lawyers. And its not like that guy could just fork over 100grand either. He'd have to file bankruptcy. Aside from ruining the rest of his life financially, they still wouldn't get any money out of him. Sure, you could say "these deter would-be pirates." My ass, just hits home that all any big company cares about is money, even if they have to ruin your life to get it..
I think it would be more of a mistake to release a generic x86 install of OSX. Its not ready to compete against MS yet. The only reason OSX has stayed as efficient as it has been is because of the closed hardware environment of macs. The main reason Windows is so sluggish effeciency wise is because of its years and years of backwards support. Not to mention that most of the problems that users encounter with XP are hardware related (yeay for bad drivers). Forcing OSX to run generic x86 hardware would cripple Apple's support and give OSX a black eye it doesn't deserve.
I think this will change though. As OSX-86 gets through some more revisions, I could see Apple releasing it as a standalone install, but probably limiting it to certain hardware to begin with and building from there.
I don't get why these GPL and other such nonsense licenses are such a pain.. Why can't they just say, "here is my work, you can modify it, but you have to give me props, and you can't make money off it by claiming its yours." Debian is going to start running out of stuff for their releases if they scrutinize every single package for "what ifs"..
Bah! I can use nLite and remove all I want. Windows runs fine without IE (just wont auto update), and it runs fine without WMP. Infact, I can remove just about everything and get an install that's 350 megs and only used 50MB of ram running.
But, whats the point to removing WMP and remarketing it? Why would I buy a crippled copy of XP for the same price as the full version? Pointless "feel good" political tactics. Slay the big Microsoft Dragon, woohoo.......
I just tell people to get a Mac. OSX is the usability that Linux should have, plus its a more secure and stable environment.
In the end though, it really doesn't matter, your machine is only as secure as you make it, and most people don't know how. MS gets all the grief because they are the most noticable. Guarentee you that if Linux or OSX were on top, they would get just as many hits..
I say screw Mars until we can make it on the moon first. Robots can keep going to Mars. If we had ancient technology when we first whent to the Moon, how hard would it be to go back now? We get ISS finished, use it as a springboard for trips to the moon, and store extra fuel and such on the moon(or process it there). Not to mention the kind of imagery we could get if we had a telescope planted on the dark side of the moon, both at the sun when it faces it, and into the expanse of the universe when its dark!
Well that didn't take long..
Me=Cable- History, Discovery, and TLC.. Nothing on the dish interests me except Wings and Tech..
I can only take so much sensless ad spamming of regular tv, which has grown to Nill lately. I think I've blocked out most of the channels.
#emerge dev-gentoo-kernel:P
Actually, I don't even know if they've put one out yet, I just compiled 2.6.3-rc3 lastnight IIRC.. not worth my upgrade yet, I've had my share of issues already with 2.6. hehe

Could it be where the Event Horizon sucked itself into a black hole? Or was that Neptune?
Totally agree, never trust a seafood plate that still smells like fish, unless its Shushi...
