horrific control scheme (featuring numerous keys for different types of step, jump, or whatever)
I'm not sure what game you played but my PC version of POP uses five keys: Up, Down, Left, Right, and Action (used to hang on to ledges, walk slowly, pick up stuff, and fight).
LEELA: Didn't you have ads in the twentieth century?
FRY: Well, sure, but not in our dreams. Only on TV and radio... and in magazines... and movies, and at ballgames, and on buses, and milk cartons, and T-shirts, and bananas, and written in the sky. But not in dreams, no sirree.
The switching of the B and A buttons in the Megaman Collection totally messed up my game playing. I know as a gamer I should be able to adapt. However, after 10+ years with Megaman it's hard to rewire your brain.
Consequently, I didn't end up buying the collection. I realized that I only really wanted Megaman 2 and not any of the others.:)
I was fortunate enough to take a few CompEng courses while I was enrolled in a CompSci program at university. I'm glad I had a chance to try out both because CompEng wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. The hardware and assembly courses I took were awesome! The physics and circuit design/analysis courses were not. There was a lot of overlap with the ElectricalEng courses.
The moral of the story is to carefully check what your curriculum entails before enrolling. CompSci at university A is not necessarily the same as CompSci at university B.
Oh man! I've already got a lot of games that I'd like to play through once that I don't have time for. If they start making games more replayable then I'd never get anything done!:)
I use WebMessenger Mobile Platform and it works rather well. I IM people on AIM, YM, MSN, and ICQ (must have an account set up on each service). The great thing is that it works on my desktop as well as my BlackBerry. And there are also clients for Palm and PocketPC.
The other day I felt like re-playing Half-Life but didn't *really* feel like going through the entire game from beginning to end. I think I felt more like watching it rather than playing it. So when I saw a HL speed run on the SDA I grabbed it right away. It was fun to see it again and check out the crazy tricks used. And it only took an hour or so.
So I guess another point of speed runs is to let lazy guys like me re-live old games without wasting too much time.:)
If there was a sword button then I guess I never used it. My sword was drawn automatically and the Down key put it away.

Let's just be happy each console has an awesome game. Except for the Gamecube (d'oh!).
:)
Please don't forget about Metroid Prime 2!
The text "Coming February 9th" isn't exactly mind blowing is it!? What an anti-climax.
The act of "Coming February 9th" is definitely mind blowing, isn't it? What a climax!
Even at 100% it might not be done. I'm still missing files (like flies1.wav) in CounterStrike: Source which is supposedly 100% complete.
It's creator can disavow all liability for anything that may go wrong, and get away with it, like... I can't think of anything else like that!
Like George Lucas?
To answer my own question, Wal-Mart gives you a two-week price drop protection period as long as you have your original receipt.
I got mine to play on the bus and for when I'm installing OSes on servers. :)
I wonder if Nintendo is even making GBA's.
Original GBA production halted in June.
The same thing happened to me. I just bought one on Sunday. I thought the price drop was because of me. :)
Does anyone know if Wal-Mart will refund the difference?
Importing characters was one of the reasons I loved the Quest For Glory (PC) series.

The sad thing is, I didn't have to read this twice to understand what you meant. :)
I'd take a BlackBerry over webmail any day. :)
In Soviet Russia?
If you don't want to use Outlook Express just to check some POP mail, I'd suggest trying something like Mail2Web.
It's totally off topic but, hey, you might want to know this...
Family Guy is coming back in 2005!

This is so true. I'd totally mod you up if I had the points.
I'd like to add that I'm experiencing the same issue. That is all.

Handy little app.
This is true... GTA3 is not out for the 'Cube. But in case you need a GTA-style fix, I can recommend True Crime: Streets Of LA and Spider-Man 2.
