I don't buy songs online, I would never buy anything through Steam, and I wouldn't buy the Phantom for the same reason - I like actually having hard copies.
Not to mention the fact that the Phantom rivals Valve for the honor of having the shadiest recent video-game related development cycle.
Go pick up the latest PCGamer and read the review. Or go check out PlanetDoom and read the reviews in the forum section. All signs point to it being an amazing game that completely lives up to the hype.
Asimov's 3 Laws of Robotics may seem a decent set of guidelines for ensuring that future robots and AIs behave in satisfactory ways. But there are several problems that immediately emerge when we look deeper.
Asimov wrote about a hundred stories exploring different ways in which these three laws could lead to interesting/dangerous situations. I think Asimov was doing all he could to make it clear that these three laws were not perfect.
There's also a review in the new PC Gamer, and from what they write the game is everything we expected and then some. Here are a few exerpts:
"...we're here to tell you that Doom 3 is not only done, it's absolutely mind-blowing."
"You are basically subjecting yourself to a 20 hour cardiac episode."
"...you will never experience a dull moment. Or even a less than mesmerizing one."
"Doom 3 is a masterpiece of art form - staying true to the frantic legacy of the Doom series, while ambitiously reaching new heights and bashing down the doors of the next generation of PC shooter. The bar is raised."
These folks -- and there are many -- won't have to deal with partitioning their disks to install the system. They won't have to worry about selecting drivers -- if they know what drivers are. They won't have to go through a tedious installation process. In fact, they won't have to worry about installing a new system, period.
If they every decide to install new hardware they might. Although I have no idea how often the average Dell consumer actually upgrades their machine instead of just waiting to buy a new one?
So we're what two years away from another FF game, another DDR series with erm.. better graphics?
I understand if you have a problem with PS2s breaking down, but if you buy the next Nintendo console and don't expect the big games to be MarioX, ZeldaX, and MetroidX you're fooling yourself.
I never understood the point of making speed runs through games... When you're trying to run through as fast as you can, aren't you kind of missing the point of actually playing the game?
John Carmack had a quote I liked when talking about how they slowed down the pace of DOOM3 because, "It would be a shame to just have you running past all of this hard work at a hundred miles per hour..."
Opportunity is analyzing a hole it has ground into a rock called Tennessee, inside the Endurance crater, on an unusual surface nicknamed the Patio of the Gods, because it resembles paved stones.
You'd think they could come up with some better names for things up there in space. Patio of the Gods is pretty cool, but naming a rock afer a state? Please...
Getting very slow already, so here it is (not much):

Extended Editions Headed to the Cinema?
7/06/04, 9:43 pm EST - Xoanon
Gandalf of Denmark writes: I work in a cinema in Denmark, and on the latest list of releases, it was mentioned that in mid-October Lotr 1,2 & 3 Extended version would be shown in a select number of cinemas. It would seem likely that they are showing the extended versions, a few months ahead of them coming out on dvd, so the December release, seems like a good bet for the dvd's so far.
Article two:
Further Evidence ROTK EE Coming to Theaters
7/07/04, 11:59 am EST - Celeborn
Ringer Baggins of the Shire sends in this tidbit: I work for Odeon cinema chain in the UK, we recieved a letter on Tuesday 6th July explaining that during October the 3 extended editions of the Lord Of The Rings films will be shown on Sunday's. This means ROTK EE will be shown before it is available to buy on DVD!
Back in my prime video game days, I used to able to beat Contra without dying once. If I died, it was always in one of the same two or three places. I wish I had the time to play games to death like I used to do back when I was younger.
...as well as The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and every other band that matters.
Also - Dink Smallwood is a fun, quirky RPG which is also now available free of charge.
Groups on campus do that all the time to promote their clubs' events. I do go to a private school.
Was Marine Doom the first example of using a video game as a military training tool or does something predate it?
ATI? NVIDIA?

It was in Masters of Doom.
I guess id wants to generate some new IP so that life does not imitate art.
That wasn't the mystery. It has been known that Raven is doing Quake 4 for some time now.
Maybe they'll give that another shot.

I can't wait to get my hands on a copy!

Yeah, but sitting and waiting and waiting and waiting for someone to walk around the corner so you can sneak by him can be pretty damn tedious also.
For the record, Doom is my favorite game of all time.

You know, finding the shortest route to hit all nodes by traveling along weighted edges in a finite graph?

Will Mortal Kombat run on this thing?
Followed by Kollege?
