  1. Well on A Law Show Set 25 Years from Now · · Score: 4, Insightful

This is not a 'Blade Runner'

Well done. Blade Runner is well written, original and high quality. This is network sci fi/law drama, respectively the worst written* and the most overused of TV drama settings

*Some of it may be good, but for every Star Trek or Babylon 5 there are 2 Milleniums or Space:Above and Beyonds

  2. This is, IMO, a crap idea on In Search Of The Continuous Gaming Platform · · Score: 1, Flamebait

    Assume 2 things
a)That most players want to follow the optimal strategy in a game.
b)To encourage adoption of cross platform content, success in one platform will aid another in a unique way(eg the foozle can only be obtained on the GBA, and the whatsit on the GC)

You end up with a situation where to fully explore the game, I have to play it on multiple platforms, which I may or may not own, possibly buying multiple versions across these platforms. This isn't a gaming innovation, it's a cheap marketing strategy

AFAIK, most AVS's have a franchised business structure-they provide free hosting and content, you provide design. There's probably someone building shitloads of FreeAmazingDeluxeAdultKeyPassCheck sites and then transferring the ownership via spam

Because of this, we have decided that we will release the emulator early next week as a free open source project, covered by the GPL license. We will of course provide a compiled version for you to use, but the full source code will also be available.

Grab DVD Shrink while you can. BTW, I love DVD Shrink. The latest version will burn on its own if you have Nero installed, so you don't even have to switch apps. The drag-and-drop reauthoring lets you cut out DVD extras so you can often fit just the movie on a 4.7GB DVD*R without recompression (but it has adjustable recompression built in, too). However, I don't believe the author is adding any new features--just bugfixes. (Wait, aren't "features" and "bugs" interchangeable words? Maybe there's hope yet! ;-) )

  23. Publishers don't support British games on God Save The UK Developer? · · Score: 3, Insightful

Look at Startopia-British humour, social commentary, excellent gameplay, and sweet fuck all in the way of support or marketing from the publisher ( a recurring trend with all of Muckyfoot's games that would lead to them closing down last November)

How about Giants:Citizen Kabuto? Possibly the funniest game ever made, innovative genre mixing, and a marketing budget of 5 quid.

I live in Guildford, and 4 years ago it probably had more development houses per capita than any other place in the world. Now half of have gone, despite putting out good products (we'll ignore Blade 2), or disappeared up their own arses into creative limbo, and in the main IMO it's the publishers who can be blamed.
