I disagree. While RS's response to the question wasn't the most well-thought-out thing I've ever read, we all know that Marvin was lamenting his abilities being underutilized. That's part of the humor. Besides, he DOES have the look of being depressed. The humor's there, you're just not giving it a chance.

We've always had the cartoony Link... now there's a Link that looks like he belongs in a deep adventure/roleplaying game. It's a good look for him.

Personally, I think it would be cool to see them create a "bonus" world where you could play through the ORIGINAL game with the new graphics and stuff... kinda like an Easter Egg.

You know, Apple really OUGHT to do this. I was a Mac fanboy for a long time, until all my friends started playing Windows games that weren't released on the Mac or were released 8 months later, when nobody I knew played them any more. Sure it's a stupid April Fools' joke, but if they actually DID this it might be the smartest thing they've done since ITunes.

The biggest problem I ran into was that one needs a job to gain experience, but all the HR people want you to have experience. So if you build a little bit of both at the same time, you're coming out on top. I got on with a medium-sized company (actually we lead the nation in casting iron, but there are probably only about 300 people who work in our plant). I'm a systems analyst; my office is right next to the company's VP and I'm only 22.

  18. Re:gouging? on Large Publishers Pointing to High Prices · · Score: 2, Insightful

So you're saying I should change my tastes in games AND pay more money? Not a chance. What seems to be happening is that companies are re-hashing all of the last 10 years' good ideas instead of using imagination and going out on a limb. What do we have this year? Another Halo, another Half-Life. Both wonderful games, but come on... there are hundreds of games that play almost the same (just without this year's video-card-burning eye candy). Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I want more for my money, ESPECIALLY if you're going to raise the price. It used to be that when a "revolutionary game" came out, there was something never done before inside the box... now "revolutionary" seems to mean "we have made a game that will require you to buy new hardware."

  19. Re:gouging? on Large Publishers Pointing to High Prices · · Score: 3, Insightful

It's sad, but you're right. And it's probably going to keep going up. The worst part is, IMO, the games are getting to be less fun than they used to... I still play my original NES and SNES games (emulated on my PC) almost as much as I do the few new games I've got (eg Call of Duty). I probably won't be buying a lot of new games, even though I could afford it with little hassle... just don't WANT them that much.

I wouldn't consider it something to put in neon lights @ the top of my resume, but that extra practice at puzzle-solving will aid in solving real-world problems.
