>>> instead, we have militant christian fundamentalists in office
Just remember, not all of us Christian Fundentalists are militant (nor conservative for that matter..). Many of us are far more liberal than you'd probably believe..
In VS Studio.NET, you can always use Docking to resize controls based upon the size of the form. So, when you maximize / modify the size of the form, the textboxes / listboxes / whatever changes to go along with it.
It's a bit tricky to work on, but it does the job (or at least as far as I need the job done).
They are the ones that have come up with darn near every innovation in the home console systems, and if they had put a disk drive on their machines like they intended to before they gave it up, we wouldn't even know who Sony or Microsoft is.
Apparently they aren't innovative enough..
To paraphrase Janet Jackson, "What has Nintendo done for us *Lately* ?
As for paying, well that's been tried before, free pc if you subscribe to a service; that didn't go over too well with people, so that's about the only part that would be a problem.
Yes, but this is "google" that is not only well known, but well trusted by the general public.
1 ) I wonder how bad this actually is.. Is this merely "forms" security? Or also the Integrated Windows security? Seems also that if you don't use the built-in security models, this probably isn't a problem.
2) The "fix" according to the article is not bad at all.. Setting the check in global doesn't amount to 8.7 million hours of lost productivity.
The problem here is one of marketing... It doesn't matter whether or not there a millions of DB solutions for Linux. Unless someone is actively marketing to the people picking the solution, the perception is that only Oracle (or what have you) is the only thing out there. When's the last time you've seen a PostGre advertisement in a trade magazine? (Not that *real* developers hold much weight in those magazines, but the ID10Ts who make decisions often do only read them.
Linux, in order to be successful, needs to have the whole Linux *solution* marketed, not just the OS. Many people donate thousands of hours to Linux and Open Source / Free Software. How about donating some money for a marketing firm?
One of the main reasons kids like chat rooms / etc. is because of the Anonymity.. No one knows that the person speaking is 16 years old. Anonymity being the great equalizer and all that on the internet.
My point is: If we're giving these tokens to kids (subsidized by the Fed), why would kids even use them?
As an FYI, we're currently seeing a trend of the older population spending their kids inheritance.
Traditionally, parents bequeath their homes, money, etc.. to their children, and this was a big part of the economy.
Now, with people living longer, the parents are far more likely to spend the money on travel, dining out, etc. (assuming they are in good health) Couple this with the fact that the ones in poor health have their money given to Nursing homes / Prescriptions / etc.
I don't know how, but this definately changes the economy.. So, I don't see the "leaving behind more money" argument.
I heard on NPR marketplace a while back that an online mortgage company gave clients an option: Have it processed in 3 days by Indian Outsourcing, or 5 days domestic (in US). 95% of people chose the outsourced solution, despite no extra out-of-pocket expendatures for either one.
Bottom line: Will complain about outsourcing, how unAmerican it is, etc.. But when you actually ask them to vote with their wallets, they are no better than corporations!
If you like Brian Daley, check out the NPR Audio Series done by Brian. Especially the first one of Star Wars. If the TV series is 1/2 as good as these tapes, It will be worth watching.
Wealthy people exist on both sides of the political isle. However, it's the republicans who, time and time again, give tax breaks / incentives / corporate welfare to the rich. The democrats, more consistently, try to push the wealth / services to the poor. Just because you're rich doesn't mean you can't support the poor. Just like you don't have to be homeless to run a homeless shelter.
As to the Humble people, I have yet to see a humble person, although, I think a lot of politicans on both sides of the isle should take an example of the current Jimmy Carter.. Serving people, not being served. He's done a better job out of the white house than in it.
As to the President Lincoln argument, take a break and look at what Lincoln wanted to do with the freed slaves: ship them out of the country!!! (Don't take my word for it, look in his memoirs.. I had a class on Abe Lincoln).
Here's one for you: What side of the firehoses were the conservatives on, in the 60's?

1) The original price (if memory serves me right) was $666 . Priced that way on purpose.
2) Jobs went to India in search of a new-age spiritual Guru..
3) The ChurchOfSatan.com (or something like that) specifically chose Apple as their official computer.
I don't know about you, but I'm tired of Academia treating Software Development as an unwanted stepchild. Case in point, Software Engineering was only recently added (within the last few years) as a required course at a local university. It replaced compiler design.
Not that compiler design doesn't have its merits (it definately does), but for an Undergraduate CIS major, which is most likely going to benefit them having a job? Knowing how to build a compiler, or knowing how to design robust commercial applications?
How about all of the IBM commercials? Including the Super Bowl? Or The commercial with the Basketball players playing as Linux and Unix. Linux is known. Heck, even Apple's servers products are known, yet not used..
Even me missus knows about Linux.. And she's a librarian!
SQL Server 2000 has lots of legs to run. While there are lots of people, myself included, want to get a hold of Yukon, I don't know of many (actually, any) shops out there which are like, "We NEED Yukon to ship *Now*."
Companies have been pushing back to M$ for years to slow down their release cycle, build a more secure, more stable product. And now people are complaing that they are doing just that? They can't have it both ways. As anyone who codes can tell you, writing secure, stable software is *hard*. Releasing it on time is even harder.
If M$ can release Yukon and it is stable, secure, and fast, I'm willing to wait till 2007, even...

the same thing was done with "Hot Dog Scheme"... I believe the guy working on that also stopped because things started looking too much like C#.
Probably with a bunch more Parens than brackets, though..:)

I'm actually glad I have one, and not Tivo.
Let's see how long it is until Microsoft follows suit. (No pun intended)

Hold the people with the unpatched boxes responsible for the attack. Especially if a patch has been made available. If not, blame Microsoft.

If you remember, Global Thermonuclear War was only one option... I seem to remember a large range of wars, including a Biological Outbreak.
The reason that why source code is not patented is because it is already covered under copywright law.

Why is it ok for the US to hold WMDs?
(Best W impression) "Because, We're a-MUR-i-ca.."
I'm wondering how this really differs from the Media Center PCs with WMP 10 using Movie Central.. Can't you still download / rent the movies?
I thought this has been in effect for a while.

Isn't that a liability waiting to happen? With Sun's agreement with Microsoft paving the way for litigation?

Rest sound ok, though.
