I am a hearing-impared individual who is funcional with hearing aids but basically deaf without. As my hearing has gotten worse, I have found myself making adaptations without realizing it. About a year ago, I realized I was able to identify the people I work with via the vibrations through the floor when they approach. I am not sure how long I have been doing this. I have long been aware of increasing sensitivity in my vision, but my sense of touch??? Freaky.

For the hearing who wonder what exactly we are talking about, telecoil is a magnetic link with the speaker of the item you are listening to. The microphone is shut off. Most cell phones crank out a lot of magnetic noise. I have this problem with my $2,000 (each!) digital Interra AV MM's and my Nokia phone. I simply use the included headset that comes with the phone and loop the small speaker behind my ear close to the hearing aid, then switch to telecoil. The sound I get is so good, I prefer to use my cell phone over any other phone.

A couple of years ago, I was reading up on lightning due to a personal interest. In particular, I was wondering why victims (common here in Florida) were often described as having their "shoes blown off." This seems like an oddly comic turn to a rather tragic event. The fact is, it does happen and often. The high voltage passing through the skin instantly turns the surface moisture to steam, with explosive results.

First off, I think what you are trying to say is "replace a farmer's horse with a TRACTOR" I have never seen anyone plow a field with a Monte Carlo. The reason the farmers changed over to the tractor had to do with the fact that a tractor would allow them to get more work done with less help. I.E., it's more efficient. What you are offering is something slower and more expensive with a "Wow" factor, NOT something more efficient. Having said that, I do think the Segway is cool and fun, but it pales in comparison to the sleek, refined design of the bicycle.
