I agree. And if you L2TFA (listen to the fine audio), what Mark says is basically what has happened over the course of the books, but on a larger scale. Mark says that George's original vision was for Luke to hand his lightsaber down to the next hope ala Obi-wan in A New Hope. In the books, Luke has started an acadamy to train new Jedis - so more than just one new hope in the books. anyhow, thats my $0.02.
The main problem with the DC distribution is that the conductor size is very large to carry the current required by several computers, etc. If you can limit the current draw or run at a higher DC voltage then you might get away with smaller wires. Alternatively, you could probably power each computer off its own battery relatively easily.
And while you're using computers off of battery power, why not use Mini-ITXs? They're small and low power (~9W idle for EPIA 5000) and there are a lot of dc-dc converters for them. Even the low end systems will be more than enough for anything but graphics intense games and DVD playback (except on the EPIA Ms). Anyhow thats my $0.02.
I've got an old pentium 2 or so that I use to hold papers and notes on my desk. Then there's always the fun RAM keychains and motherboard clipboards I've seen around.
It only works if you're logged in, so if it bothers you that much, just go set up an account. I know you'd lose your asbestos suit protecting your karma (oh wait, you dont have any when you're an AC!), but hey you could still post anonymously if you must!
I still have one floating around on my family's old 486 Windows 3.11 system. It was fun to mess around with as a kid, but we never really used it except as a toy.
And for regenerative braking you need an actual motor attached to the wheels.
I think they were refering to slowing the engine by electrically loading the generator. Basically, instead of recovering power from the wheels themselves, you take power from the engine as you deaccelerate by increasing the electrical load on the generator - i.e. charging the supercap pack. Its an interesting spin on the concept of regenerative braking.
By the way, it was developed in conjuction with my alma mater, and possibly one of my proffs.
I find it funny that thats all I got when I first clicked on the article. Atleast this is an optional plugin, but it'd be funny if you ran it alongside Adblock.
I read
some articles about using standard GPUs for matrix and mathematical operations. Does anyone know if this is being coupled with clustering? Seems that this would give you some of the power of vector processors, but thats just my $0.02.
What does the sand of Mars feel like bewteen the fingers? To walk on? What does the air feel and taste like? How does a human react to this environment?
Well, at risk of burning some karma, I'd say you wouldn't feel or taste much as you would die pretty quickly outside of a pressure suit!
However, with better virtual reality technology, we might be able to experience the place without being there.
I don't know about yall, but I'd like to not have to worry about my watch battery dying in less than a week. I guess you could just charge it each night, but my good old Timex has had only one battery change in about 10 years!
Microsoft Robots as seen in the new film I Robot...(The stolen name is fitting!)
You'll be awed at the effect a simple virus can have on your docile home robots!
Amaze your fiends with the advanced techonolgy of Clippy, the world's first automated help paperclip!
Your robot running too fast? No problem, just install Windows 9000 and your machine will be reduced to a quivering heap of junk!
Bill's personal Army of Blue Screen of Death Darkness!
Now you too can play Solitare on your robots or picture frames!
Now I'll just WinCE as my karma vaporizes!
But seriously, the SPOT concept is interesting, maybe a bit too heavyweight for my liking, but I like programming microcontrollers in assembly, maybe I'm just weird.
I've seen it too, after you mentioned it. I didn't notice it before, but it may have been there in 0.8, etc. It looks like it's something to do w/ the shadow used to show which tab is on top.
Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?
Joey, you ever seen a grown man naked?
~ Captain Oveur, Airplane ~
Sorry, the title just reminded me too much of these lines from Airplane. Anyhow, I'd really hate to smell a real T-Rex's breath, because you'd be the appetizer he's smelling! But I guess the smell of my burning karma might cover the stench...
These rules played an intricate part of the plot for UHF, in which a UHF station was being bought out by a network station who were gonna use this rule as an excuse to close the popular UHF station, where you could you see such shows as Conan The Librarian, Ghandi II, Strip Solitare, and the best of all Stanley Spadowski's Playhouse!
But seriously, these small stations have a lot of unique programming that should not be lost.
This is the world's refrigerator where change has happened far more slowly than in other oceans
If its anything like my fridge, they'll find new life alright! But seriously, I think its funny how many "living fossils" were discovered by accident. Examples: ratfish, coelacanth, wollemi pine, etc.
Robots like the LOCAAS I mentioned earlier. These already fly autonomously, but their targets are selected by a human beforehand and then it plans a path for searching for the target.

Imagine a cluster of essays about Beowulf!
Especially since Independence Day shows aliens will be more compatible with Apple!
Nice:) It may be be lame, but I like it.

Hannibal: "I love it when a progrma comes together."
Seriously, great reference!
Actually, Bluetooth is not explicitly 2.4GHz. It frequency hops a band around 2.4GHz. It only keeps the same frequency for a few ms, before switching to another, which makes it rather noise immune: if a frequency is noisy, it just skips over to the next clear one. It's run by a special interest group (SIG) made up of several leading technology companies. More information on Bluetooth specifications.

2^10 bytes would be a kilobyte. 2^20 bytes is a megabyte. I see your point, but I must ask what you suggest should be used instead?
Some Suggestions:

Too bad its down, I really enjoy images from the Apollo program.
If I had mod points, I'd mod you up!
