changing it to something public could be a sign of knowing what you are doing, and i believe the main defence is ignorance of how to do these sort of things. on the other hand the most common configuration is to use a dhcp server. One line of questioning I might be tempted to use is about the existance of botnets and related exploits if examination showed evidence of a remote takeover that would be an aid to her defence and a negative finding is inconclusive. Windows barely makes it as secure even when administered by 'experts' a failure to look for such evidence or recognise the possibility of misuse of an unknown third party would weaken the procecutions case. routed to or routed through the defendents IP address.
belkin routers tend to be on 192.168.2.1 (default settings on most routers I have ever had) I have friends on linksys on 10.x.x.x and not all windows networks are called mshome either and not all belkin wireless routers have belkin54g set as the SSID although they do ship open and password free. Just checked all 4 of the dotted quad can be changed on a belkin wireless router. I imagine that defaults and limitations vary between routers so your point is?
The Amiga's desktop was fairly basic but with mcp, magicmenu and magic workbench most of what we have on modern desktops was there. plus some we don't such as snoopdos which monitored a programs calls and told you where it failed. I also liked the way an amiga would record in the icon file where a downloaded file came from.
The Amiga OS has had a difficult time, several owners, lost source code, confused rights who owns what, finally there is a complete set of source which means it could be turning up on all sorts of platforms PDA's Phones Digital TV boxes DVR's, maybe PC's and Consoles.
It wasn't the OS that killed the Amiga. The real problems were 1)inability of commodore to make any further money from you once you had bought one. They relied on an expanding market to survive, millions of satisfied customers but nothing to sell them. 2)The inherent limitations of the hardware Aga was about as far as it could go. 3)Motorola's inability to produce faster compatible processors.
The release of version 4.0 is a major achievement but where to from here is the really difficult question.
The Original Amiga OS managed without a swopfile with 512k of ram shared with the graphics hardware and a rom of 512k
My A1200 had 2 meg chip and 8 meg fast ram and my original harddrive loaded with applications was 52 Meg and I got on the internet with that. just compare those specifications with what you are using right now.
I have to wonder how much overhead is in version 4. Has it grown as bloated as windows, linux or osx.how would it be if it was ported to x86 hardware (and having the complete source code its not impossible). Probably it's ideally suited for embedded systems such as satellite and cable boxes.
When you look at what vista does encrypting and decrypting data as it moves it between the subsystems, Amiga OS would be giving a much bigger bang for the buck.
What actually is an OS for and how much of your processor time should be spent running the Os shouldnt it be running your programs?
Isn't it embarrassing that we need so much more power today to do, what exactly? I read my email went to websites chatted with friends all in 10meg of ram doesnt seem possible does it?
It makes me wonder if the One laptop per child project shouldnt be using something as compact as Amiga OS the point of the project being to bring information to the children and on the original amiga web pages worked RTF documents worked. even spread sheets were useable in amigaos.
The Amiga was fantastic for its time the custom chips which made it all work ultimately limited its progression I don't quite understand why people feel so smug when current hardware and operating systems are so inefficient, but then again I liked beos too.
Web'n'walk fair use policy Subject to coverage. Compatible handset required. Provides unlimited browsing on mobile handsets in the UK. Not applicable to connection via CSD. To ensure a high quality of service for all our customers a fair use policy applies. T-Mobile defines fair use as total UK data (both sent and received) of up to 1GB per month. T-Mobile may contact customers who exceed 1GB of data and ask them to reduce their usage. If data usage is not reduced, notice may be given, after which network protection controls may be applied. Not to be used for other activities (including but not limited to): modem access for computers, internet based video/audio streaming services, peer to peer file sharing, internet based video downloads, internet phone calls and instant messaging. If such use is detected, notice may be given after which network protection controls may be applied. The application of network protection controls will result in a reduced speed of transmission. It looks like they will give you a warning if they notice you are doing something they think they should make a profit on.
Things are slowly improving with the network providers. to give an example t-mobile (in the uk) has a tarrif called flext. They have a service called web and walk which gives fairly substantial net access for £7.50 a month which still wasn't being taken up (why would you with broadband at home).
However what is interesting is daypass a scheme which charges you a small fee per kbyte upto a maximum of £1 a day. I've had data enabled phones for the last 2 years but primarily used wifi to my own connection at the moment i see no reason to pay £7.50 a month for what would probably be occassional data usage. However under the daypass scheme it'll be handy on train journeys hanging out at coffee shops trips to other citys even shopping I'll gladly pay a £1 if it'll save me spending £20 more than I need to for a particular item.
I am getting an mda exec later this week a pda phone with a 640 by 480 screen and a proper qwerty keyboard. I can see me actually using the data capabilitys of this phone but before this move on t-mobiles part I know I wouldnt it is possible I may even sign up to the £7.50 a month scheme if I find I am taking advantage of data more than 7 days in a month.
T-mobile are still limiting what your alllowed to do with the data connection no p2p file sharing voip or instant mesaging, but vnc to my network should sort some of that out;)

I was trying to think, what my view is on 'santa' Then I thought why am I doing this it's christmas day! Merry Christmas my fellow Slashdot readers, lets go and spend sometime with some of the people important in our lives and have some fun.
apparently he loaned the company some money and wasn't paid back http://cbs5.com/topstories/local_story_256204954.h tml can't imagine he would be fond of either nina or hans. would make a good plot for a film but I'm sure this possibility would have been investigated.
According to filings in Alameda County Superior Court, a notice of settlement was filed on Hans Reiser's behalf today to resolve a lawsuit filed against him by Sean Sturgeon on Dec. 30, 2004, seeking $131,552 in damages.
The terms of the settlement weren't disclosed.
Sturgeon claimed that Reiser and his company, Namesys, Inc., which he ran out of his home, failed to pay back a loan.
In a response to the lawsuit that was filed on Feb. 15, 2005, Reiser, acting as his own attorney, said "under no theory of liability is defendant Reiser liable personally for repayment."
Reiser alleged that Sturgeon "had been having a secret affair with defendant's wife, Nina Reiser, at the time of the loan.".
The Evidence so far isn't that great, assuming you as a third party wanted to and indeed did kill his wife wouldn't you want someone else to take the blame and he is the most likely suspect?
as the person with the body, you have the blood and can fill a syringe with it. you can buy the books the roll of bin liners and remove the seat- the assumption we are all making is that it was too blood stained to clean.
would she have got in his car anyway?
maybe the killing of his wife was to ruin him and his file system. Plenty of nutjobs here on slashdot, suppose one of them thought reiser had stolen his idea's what better revenge than this. Perhaps there are commercial reasons to want to bury reiserfs anyone still using it now? Linux users and developers won't use it now or defend gpl violations of reiserfs would they?
Of course he could have been rather clever about it and added the books as an over the top addition to the crime scene to lend credibilty to the third party defence. Is there DNA evidence that he ever opened the books?
It is not beyond believe that he could have manufactured evidence against himself to give credibility to this unknown third party defence.
I remember a similar situation where a man deliberately let himself be seen with a knife a few hours before killing his girlfriends exhusband. It wasn't that knife that he used but he knew he would be a suspect and figured that his knife wouldnt match the wounds on the other guy, he was convicted anyway.
How difficult is it to break into a honda? it isn't that difficult thats for sure.
Have you any doubt in your mind now of his guilt?
Perhaps a search of slashdot posts might reveal someone claiming reiser stole reiserfs, I don't know.
of course if he is guilty, he should be convicted but this is why there is a trial.
re motorola miniusb its not quite standard, I have a v3 and motorola usb-mini usb lead, also got some external 2.5 drives that come with usb - miniusb leads they do not work with the phone. problem is the motorola mini usb connector is just that little bit longer with the pins on the phone socket just out of reach.
funny how this should come up today I spilt Mcdonalds coffee in my car today (not as hot because I had let it sit for a while before hand) the problem really is the lids that they use. trying to pull the lid off requires significant initial force, followed by next to no force at all. This is bound to result in spilt coffee.
other coffee cups use much shallower lids which progressively release from the cup reducing the tendency to jerk the coffee cup. The Solution it seems is to improve the design of the mcdonalds coffee cup to provide a safe method of lid removal whilst retaining the positive feature of a lid that doesnt come off if the cup is knocked over.
something requiring a twist to lock or unlock would seem ideal, Hot liquids are not a problem we all handle them everyday its the methods available to handle them that is the problem.
I'll just put my personal favourite in Ubuntu Dapper Drake, Edgy is a little too edgy but dapper was the linux version that made it possible to move away from windows and I'm sure i am not alone in that.
So Dapper for being a real alternative to the microsoft options.
hardware wise I think the thing most people have been thinking about is dual core processors...
I don't know if thexbox 360 controller is vastly different to the xbox controller but the xbox controller is a 5 wired verion of usb the 5th wire is for a light gun and can be ignored.
modding is simple use the short part of an xbox controller with a usb extension cable cut both of these cables in half and solder the corrosponding coloured wires to each other.
you finish up with a cable you can connect a std usb mouse or keyboard or usb memory stick to the xbox and a usb hub and a hid device that you can connect to a pc (recognised automatically by xp I believe for the hub)
google xbox controller hack to find full details i think its on the xbox wiki. the datel memory stick driver will work on a pc if you add the particular devices pid and vid to the inf file for the datel driver.
i guess ms must be officially sanctioning something similar, ensuring that games recognise and use the controllers capabiltys.
There are essentially 2 legal forms of Taxi's plus there a number of unlicienced people pretending to be a taxi. Black Cabs are taxi's in the traditional sense, you can flag them down they charge per mile and on time, sat in a black cab in a traffic jam costs you. The other drawback is you have to be somewhere a Black Cab happens to be passing.
Mini Cabs or private hire, have a range of vehicles, display a plate to the front and rear, and the driver will have at least one badge. Essential is the private hire badge, and optionally an escort badge. both these badges require a full and complete criminal background check. Records are checked across the whole of the EEC before either badge is issued. The Escort Badge is harder to get than the private hire badge since it means you are licienced to escort vunerable children and Adults, most Local Authoritys, Education Authoritys and Social Services have contracts with private hire companies.
most private hire firms will work on a zoning system where the centre of the zone is base (where the office is)
Thus the charges are based on how far you are from base ie if you were going from the north to the south of the city with base in the middle you would be charged for the rate to the north zone + the rate to the south zone + or - something depending on when you were traveling
its important to understand that its not the distance traveled by you that matters but how far the private hire driver has to come from base to reach you and then where you go. so if your 10 miles from base to be picked up then that is the initial basis of the charge if you travel into the city ie towards base that will remain the charge if you go past into the next zone then that would be added on. if you headed further out it would be charged for the more distant zone.
So don't expect to pay minimum fare if the minicab has already had to travel to reach you. or more importantly book with a minicab company based as near to you as possible. Generally speaking if you ask the office for a price it maybe cheaper.
If your going to share a minicab with friends its best to ensure you all get picked up or dropped off at the same point additional stops cost money particularly when it means a large diversion. Not having money and needing to find a Cash Machine costs you money too. Keeping a driver hanging about will cost you. Being obnoxious is likely to ensure a higher fare and extreme cases the driver pulling over to the side of the road and ejecting you from the cab.
Becoming a regular, tends to benifit you in many ways, your cab turns up on time your going to be charged a better rate. Drivers spend less time having to find out where you live so can get to you quicker. One other thing that can help you is to ensure your house number is clearly visable from the road. Smaller firms tend to better than larger firms since they have less drivers a larger percentage know where you live.
Finally one more point a private hire driver isn't allowed to pick up from the side of the road. you must telephone and book (you may get the same cab if he has just cleared but not if the company is booked up) you tend to get longer waits if your completely drunk (especially if your not a regular).
A taxi or a Private hire both vehicles are plated by the local authority have tests carried out on them at least twice a year a cab older than 3 years will have another test in addition annually. The Insurance on both taxi's and Private hire is around 10x normal car insurance for the same vehicle - importantly this is invalidated with a private hire if it is not prebooked. a genuine minicab will have the minicab firm name on the sides a local authority plate front and rear and the driver will have his badge on display (with his photograph).
These other MiniCabs you refer too are uninsured and unlicienced and can be driven by anyone, as a drunk woman falling into one of these cars you are taking a stupid risk.
"Thats right folks. Its OK to kill Muslims because they don't believe in Jesus. Its tons of fun for the whole family. Thats right Little Johny, shoot those non-believers."
I saw this story on the bbc news page, where they also mentioned "quest for bush" essentially a modded version of quest for saddam http://www.gameology.org/node/1269
I believe quest for saddam can be downloaded for free from http://www.unitedamericancommittee.org/quest_game. htm there is also a quest for bin-laden, didn't find thst one thou... in the interest of balance in all things intollerant. I did search for "quest for bush" but was unable to find more than video's of the game play. Unfortunately "as a game developed by Al Quaeda to attract new recruits" searching for this game might generate some unwanted attention and it seems that the game while available for free isn't free to find. Somebody prove me wrong please.
unfortunately mac and linux users will be unable to play as all these games require windows.
I am sure we can do better than drain the water system, especially since he has broadband.
how about a PC house sitter, for one thing there is zoneminder http://www.zoneminder.com/ which could be used to set up camera's in and around his home you can configure it to notice changes and control a number of camera's placed strategically around his home port forward to his router and he can check his house anywhere he has net access even generate alarms and notify him when something has changed.
Of course it runs on linux so should be able to remain up for as long as he needs it.
come on folks we must be able to come up with some more geeky ways of looking after a house remotely this is slashdot we can do better than just the obvious from handy andy:)
It's hard to see your comments as anything else other than flame bait, you already know how easy it is to work with different applications and environments.
For those of us who were kids in the early 80,s we already have changed platforms at least a couple of times and we know its not that big an issue. But I think we can also remember how it was to be able to be able to explore our old 8 and 16 bit systems.
To give a child of today windows, how does it engage their curiosity, encourage them to explore to learn. To get the tools they need to experiment and explore the capabilitys of thier computers one of the first things they are likely to do is download a cracked, hacked version of commercial closed source tools.
compare this to a linux system which is open generally freely downloadable, with source code available the possibilities are endless, compared with the closed source windows world its a new frontier. It is possible to get into 1000's of linux projects experiment and eventually contribute. No only is source available quite often the authors of that source are available and prepared to answer polite well thought out inquirys. Children can learn good values from open source and the rewards of a free exchange of idea's
Perhaps it is the whole experience and environment that are the real prize
"How will you recharge your cell phone during a power failure once you've drained its battery?"
a few methods spring to mind
1)plugin usb charger into my car and charge it through that, 2)use the handcrank telephone charger I bought a while back which does work eventually 3)Emergency battery pack (usually a couple of AA batterys in a case) 4)plug it into my laptop.
grab the solar powered lamps from my garden and use the internal batterys to power my cell phone... maybe convert a bycycle with a dynamo to run on wind power. strip the speakers from my stereo for the magnets and coils...
all else fails nearest call box is about 5minutes walk from here.
Alexa Internet is a California-based subsidiary company of Amazon.com, that is best known for operating a website (www.alexa.com) that provides information on the web traffic to other websites. Alexa collects information from users who have installed an Alexa Toolbar, allowing them to provide statistics on web site traffic, as well as lists of related links.
http://www.imilly.com/alexa.htm Is Alexa spyware? Well, no... probably not. At least not if you haven't deliberately installed some of their software.
But Lavasoft's Ad-Aware identifies a standard registry key included with Internet Explorer as "Data Miner" spyware, with little or no further explanation, and offers to delete it. I hope this page offers a better explanation, and other alternatives to deletion. Spybot identifies it too, with more explanation, and they have a smarter strategy to deal with it (more below). The issue is the 'Related Links' feature of IE (pre-XP SP2) which appears as the 'Tools'/'Show Related Links' menu item (and a corresponding toolbar button if you added it from the 'Customize...' link on the toolbar). If you use that feature, IE will contact the Alexa servers, via MSN, to obtain information about other web pages which seem to be related, open an Explorer Bar, and display those (plus adverts and whatnot). Go check the Alexa web site to see if you think that is a good idea (and, just to be clear, I think it's a very sucky idea), or just to double-check that you haven't deliberately or unintentionally or absent-mindedly installed some of their software.
Essentially it a two edged sword. you have the positive in the internet archive which is kind of a byproduct from alexas data mining activitys
It didnt have to be created at all but Alexas authors figured we wouldnt mind if they tracked our visits to different sites if they gave something useful back (The Internet Archive)...
Problem with Slashdot is its very usa centric, Software patents are an american problem, for now. If Microsoft flexes its software patent muscles in the usa, then lets assume Linux will effectively be forced out of the american market place. If this was timed prior to european legislation allowing software patents, then europe would likely to sieze the advantage and bury software patents somewhere deep in the mid atlantic. It is for this reason that the patent war is likely to be delayed. but lets assume Microsoft grows impatient.
How does that effect the european market I would assume distro's such as ubuntu would be largely uneffected, companies such as ibm can probably counter sue and probably would, redhat, fedora would probably be forced to imigrate, google quite possibly would have to fight or exit america too.
The costs associated with an american data centre would rise, certainly european data centres employing linux would have a cost advantage, more money would stay within europe boosting european economy's.
It doesn't look great for the american IT industry and there would be growing economic pressure for the US goverment to reform software patents. It would be interesting to see the effects on global multinationals would they withdraw from the united states or take a battering in the market place from european and asian rivals?
Linux developers in america will probably be forced into a choice of withdrawing from linux projects or finding an alternative country to reside in. Talented Engineers will have no problems relocating. Ireland and the UK seem reasonable within Europe, New Zealand and Australia assuming they are software patent free are a much nicer place to be.
Exile from america to avoid being sued and never being able to set foot on US soil seem like a high price to pay but most of the world lives quite happily without living or visiting America, I'm assuming relatives left behind would be able to obtain permission to travel outside the united states.
So what are we looking at here a decline in the American economy a renaisance for Europe and Tiger Economys for most of the rest of the world.
Of course this all conjecture and I would assume an American Goverment would protect the American Economy by reforming Software Patents. Interesting times, but probably not a great time to be in the IT industry in America.
you are not required to carry your licence in the UK, all documents you don't have with you, have to be produced within 7 days at a police station of your choice.
However these days the police can check who owns the car who is insured to drive the car when the MOT expires when the road tax expires just by running the registration plate.
they have access to all the necessary databases to do this, it's just not possible to "produce" a cover note for insurance or MOT as it was in the old days no matter who you know.
however one thing that hasn't changed is drive a car or motorbike over the age of 10 years expect to be pulled over for a 'routine' stop especially in the late evening.
You are not forced in the uk to carry Identity papers, it just makes it easier on you if you do. The only possible advantage the fingerprint machine may have is that it might just avoid you getting a DNA sample taken and put on the national database (regardless of guilt or innocence of anything).
you can't just haul someone in, they need to be arrested for something, which means eventually being charged and convicted of something.
I've read a lot about the quality of high school education, but what part does poverty play? in a low/no income family would the immediate needs of the family make dropping out a necessity for a single parent family with younger siblings perhaps a macjob is preferable to seeing your family barely make ends meet.
uae for various platforms is still around and generally very compatable (uae is in the ubuntu archives) funny this story should come up as i'm setting up uae on my laptop with 52 meg filebased hd (same size as the first hd in my A1200) my 752meg ram laptop easily emulates my old A1200 with 28mhz 020 and 8 meg fast ram.

can't imagine he would be fond of either nina or hans. would make a good plot for a film but I'm sure this possibility would have been investigated.
Most people seem to think he is guilty but is he?
Perhaps a search of slashdot posts might reveal someone claiming reiser stole reiserfs, I don't know.
of course if he is guilty, he should be convicted but this is why there is a trial.
re motorola miniusb its not quite standard,
I have a v3 and motorola usb-mini usb lead, also got some external 2.5 drives that come with usb - miniusb leads
they do not work with the phone. problem is the motorola mini usb connector is just that little bit longer with the pins on the phone socket just out of reach.
funny how this should come up today
I spilt Mcdonalds coffee in my car today (not as hot because I had let it sit for a while before hand) the problem really is the lids that they use. trying to pull the lid off requires significant initial force, followed by next to no force at all.
So Dapper for being a real alternative to the microsoft options.
hardware wise I think the thing most people have been thinking about is dual core processors...
any more nominations?
I don't know if thexbox 360 controller is vastly different to the xbox controller but the xbox controller is a 5 wired verion of usb the 5th wire is for a light gun and can be ignored.
modding is simple use the short part of an xbox controller with a usb extension cable cut both of these cables in half and solder the corrosponding coloured wires to each other.
you finish up with a cable you can connect a std usb mouse or keyboard or usb memory stick to the xbox
and a usb hub and a hid device that you can connect to a pc (recognised automatically by xp I believe for the hub)
google xbox controller hack to find full details i think its on the xbox wiki. the datel memory stick driver will work on a pc if you add the particular devices pid and vid to the inf file for the datel driver.
i guess ms must be officially sanctioning something similar, ensuring that games recognise and use the controllers capabiltys.
The Escort Badge is harder to get than the private hire badge since it means you are licienced to escort vunerable children and Adults, most Local Authoritys, Education Authoritys and Social Services have contracts with private hire companies.
most private hire firms will work on a zoning system where the centre of the zone is base (where the office is)
Thus the charges are based on how far you are from base ie if you were going from the north to the south of the city with base in the middle you would be charged for the rate to the north zone + the rate to the south zone
+ or - something depending on when you were traveling
its important to understand that its not the distance traveled by you that matters but how far the private hire driver has to come from base to reach you and then where you go. so if your 10 miles from base to be picked up then that is the initial basis of the charge if you travel into the city ie towards base that will remain the charge if you go past into the next zone then that would be added on.
if you headed further out it would be charged for the more distant zone.
These other MiniCabs you refer too are uninsured and unlicienced and can be driven by anyone, as a drunk woman falling into one of these cars you are taking a stupid risk.
with a proper private hire car, your booki
"Thats right folks. Its OK to kill Muslims because they don't believe in Jesus. Its tons of fun for the whole family. Thats right Little Johny, shoot those non-believers."

I saw this story on the bbc news page, where they also mentioned "quest for bush" essentially a modded version of quest for saddam http://www.gameology.org/node/1269
I believe quest for saddam can be downloaded for free from http://www.unitedamericancommittee.org/quest_game
there is also a quest for bin-laden, didn't find thst one thou...
in the interest of balance in all things intollerant. I did search for "quest for bush" but was unable to find more than video's of the game play. Unfortunately "as a game developed by Al Quaeda to attract new recruits" searching for this game might generate some unwanted attention and it seems that the game while available for free isn't free to find.
Somebody prove me wrong please.
unfortunately mac and linux users will be unable to play as all these games require windows.
at least now we know that Al Quaeda runs windows
I am sure we can do better than drain the water system, especially since he has broadband.
:)
how about a PC house sitter, for one thing there is zoneminder http://www.zoneminder.com/ which could be used to set up camera's in and around his home you can configure it to notice changes and control a number of camera's placed strategically around his home port forward to his router and he can check his house anywhere he has net access even generate alarms and notify him when something has changed.
Of course it runs on linux so should be able to remain up for as long as he needs it.
come on folks we must be able to come up with some more geeky ways of looking after a house remotely
this is slashdot we can do better than just the obvious from handy andy
1)plugin usb charger into my car and charge it through that,
2)use the handcrank telephone charger I bought a while back which does work eventually
3)Emergency battery pack (usually a couple of AA batterys in a case)
4)plug it into my laptop.
grab the solar powered lamps from my garden and use the internal batterys to power my cell phone...
maybe convert a bycycle with a dynamo to run on wind power.
strip the speakers from my stereo for the magnets and coils...
all else fails nearest call box is about 5minutes walk from here.

... probably not. At least not if you haven't deliberately installed some of their software.
..
Alexa Internet has been crawling the web since 1996, which has resulted in a massive archive
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexa_Internet
Alexa Internet is a California-based subsidiary company of Amazon.com, that is best known for operating a website (www.alexa.com) that provides information on the web traffic to other websites. Alexa collects information from users who have installed an Alexa Toolbar, allowing them to provide statistics on web site traffic, as well as lists of related links.
http://www.imilly.com/alexa.htm
Is Alexa spyware?
Well, no
But Lavasoft's Ad-Aware identifies a standard registry key included with Internet Explorer as "Data Miner" spyware, with little or no further explanation, and offers to delete it.
It didnt have to be created at all but Alexas authors figured we wouldnt mind if they tracked our visits to different sites if they gave something useful back (The Internet Archive).
Problem with Slashdot is its very usa centric,
Software patents are an american problem, for now.
"Are we experiencing a wave of artists refusing to create works because copyright law isn't strong enough?"
wishful thinking,
Sir Cliff manages to release something around this time, every year - unfortunately
you are not required to carry your licence in the UK, all documents you don't have with you, have to be produced within 7 days at a police station of your choice.
/no income family would the immediate needs of the family make dropping out a necessity for a single parent family with younger siblings perhaps a macjob is preferable to seeing your family barely make ends meet.
in a low
uae for various platforms is still around and generally very compatable (uae is in the ubuntu archives)
funny this story should come up as i'm setting up uae on my laptop with 52 meg filebased hd (same size as the first hd in my A1200) my 752meg ram laptop easily emulates my old A1200 with 28mhz 020 and 8 meg fast ram.
