The article (in the magazine, not sure about the online version) states that microwaving it could cause burn marks, which would invalidate the passport.
I don't know what type of "damage" could have been done to these machines. I doubt any hardware was destroyed, and software is simply able to be reinstalled. I think (IMO) that this isn't for "damage", it should be for inconvenience.
That being said, can I just get a refund for the CD? It sucked.
Ok, everyone is going on about encrypting their e-mail, but I don't get it... so I'm about to willingly show my ignorance:
If I encrypt MY e-mail with whatever, I assume PGP, then send it to someone, they have to have a key to decrypt it. Does that mean everyone I know has to have my key and the knowledge/ability to decrypt the message? Also, can I do this with any e-mail? (i.e. webmail? or only Pop3? Only Exchange, only IMAP?)
Comparing DVD to coaxial is not necessarily valid. I can see your point if you are relating "never enough bandwidth" to "not enough space on a DVD".
The whole switch from DVD to HD-DVD and/or BluRay is not enough space to store the video. So yeah, I just made myself look like a fool. Thanks a lot.:-) I should at least get credit for actually posting this.
Totally joking here, I'm not saying the RIAA put her up to this... but, if they were smart:
1. Sue person
2. Get person to bring class action suit against Kazaa
3. Win suit against Kazaa
4. Kazaa users come clamboring to get their Piece of the Pie (TM)
5. Get list of those wanting in on the lawsuit pay-out
6. Sue them!
I was going to post this as well. Relient K is a very "positive" image type band, although a few of their songs have Christian themes.
They are also pretty popular, I hear a few of their songs on the radio, and on MTV/VH1 (same with Switchfoot).
Best Buys had over 100... I planned on going around 3am, but a friend called and said over 100 people were in line at midnight.
Went to a Circuit City that had 15, only 4 people in line when I got there at 2am. They handed out vouchers at 7am. Was surprised at the influx of people around 6am. Almost felt bad for the parents who showed up at 10am when the store opened, but yet I didn't. I braved the cold, and had fun with some other fans all the same.
Relatively little commotion, some people were upset... the employees had a meeting before the store opened and a lot left with empty display boxes, but did it obviously to incite some sort of "envy". A guy in line was friends with all the employees and he told me that they had empty boxes. Seems ridiculous that the manager would allow this.
Exactly! I've been checking/. frequently for an article, to compare my own feelings for the new system with others who were lucky enough to get one. Everyone was screaming "Wii Wii Wii" in all of the PS3 articles, so I thought there would be some. However, it just seems like the editors love to hate Sony, so they post all the PS3 articles.
So, does anyone else have a Wii? I saw numerous people who said they were going to buy one... how do you like it?
There are only limited numbers of pre-orders. Those people in line at Best Buy were unlucky enough to miss out on the pre-orders (back of the line), and might miss out on the non-pre-order units as well.
When they die. And that's not very often. In fact, I've only ever had 2 drives die on me, and they were both Maxtors. I have an 80gb WD that I still use (for MythTV files, nothing too important) that is 6 years old. The Maxtors lasted about 6 months each.
Now I've got a 120gb Seagate, and 2 80GB WDs. Works nicely, will replace when they break... or I need more space, which may be soon... very soon.
I just backup important documents and my music is all on CDs if I should ever need it again.
Anyone with a datacenter is going to know about this (as anyone with a good IT department will test patches before deploying to production machines) and realize they need to either not install this patch, or go in and disable power savings settings after installation.

I was at EB Games over the weekend playing the Wii, which is amazing (Ok maybe I am a fanboy too now), and overheard a few employees talking with some customers about the Zune. They touched on all of the important topics: it's screen is larger, it's much better looking, and thinner (?). Of course, no mention of DRM, good or bad.
It seems nobody ever seems concerned about the fact that their iTunes music will not go with them if they move on to another player. Now, I realize a lot of people don't buy iTunes music for their iPod (my wife, for example)... but I know that a lot of people do.

I was at EB Games over the weekend playing the Wii (ok, maybe I am a fanboy too now) and I overheard an employee talking to some customers about the wonders of the Zune. It's much sleeker, looks better, is thinner, and has a bigger screen... you know, all of the important things.
Nobody ever mentions DRM, good or bad. I wonder if anyone realizes if they switch to Zune from iPod, there music doesn't go with them?
I still own my SNES, and still have the working cart I bought the first day of release! I play it from time to time, and will tell you that if you enjoy RPGs you will most likely enjoy Earthbound. Picking up the cart can be expensive, although it is possible. Ebay is really your best bet though, unfortunately. Most game stores never see a cart pass through.
The game in question is Mother 3, which is the sequel to Earthbound. It was just released for GBA in mid 2006, and the GBA is region free.
I agree wholeheartedly with your point, though I just wanted to clear up that it is very possible (and is being done by alot of SM.net members) to import the Japanese cart. However, it is very difficult to find an original Earthbound cart!!!
As far as I know, Nintendo doesn't seem to have a big deal with imports... at least not as much as Sony appears to... I'm sure everyone has seen the slamming Sony has taken because of Lik-Sang.

This is exactly as I had suspected... so basically this is only something I can do with my fellow geek friends.

Someone please explain.
That was my first thought... methinks the word desired was "proponents". :-)

MythTV... requires Linux, and time. Worth the effort.
Who buys a core 360? And rebates are a cheap way out, nobody said that beforehand :-)
From the summary: "As a result, part of his job is to lobby for what he thinks American gamers want."
Reggie, there are plenty of us who want Mother 3. Make it happen.
Ha!
Today's not April 1.
This is ridiculous.
Interesting? This should be 'Troll', or 'Off-topic' at best...
Yes. I was lucky I think, hooked mine up and updated immediately. Was a bit slow, but all was fine.
Several of my buddies are having issues though.

At any rate, love the Wii... worth the wait.
