Nerf scout shotgun or give them the sniper machine gun instead.. 2 shots from a scout's gun should kill a 175hp demo or 200 hp soldier.. i've seen 3-4 scouts rush a CP and kill everyone and cap the round.
demo nades are a little under powered when laying ont he ground and exploding (direct hits are right, and stickys are fine).
uber could last a little longer.
overall tho you can tell a lot of balance was worked on prior to beta...
"and it prevents cheating, since each client sees only what it absolutely needs to see to function."
Not really.. if that were true then no cheats would exist.. in fact there are many for pretty much every game, the only reason they would less so on consoles would be the locked down nature of consoles (hardware/software).
When you're playing an online game of CS for example.. your client needs to know where other people are so that it can display them to you, make footsteps in the right place and vice versa.. so your client is actually getting a lot of useful information from the server that it can exploit.. there is/was one anticheat i know of that actually takes that information that the server sends and then wonks it so the client cheat program can't glean anything useful from it, i forget the name of it off hand but it had to be run on the client side as well which in itself proved a race to hack that/keep it updated.
"Microsoft implement a depreciated standard and people start complaining that its not supported ?"
Depreciated? Id software changed over to UDP with quake3 and has done that ever since because it uses less bandwidth.. I think UDP is the norm for most if not all internet multiplayer games nowadays...
Don't most TOS (like AT&T) say they reserve the right to change their terms of service whenever they feel like it/ I have had DSL through the same carrier for 6 years as well (was pacbell now the "new" At&T) but in that time i have gotten several emails notifying me of a change to the TOS... which is accept by default?
"First, if you cut the day to 7 hours, the last hour will still be the least productive hour. And it will be LESS productive than the 7th hour currently is in an 8 hour day."
Way to pull stuff out of your ass.
But you do have a good point about how European countries with their lax work weeks and 3x as much vacation make them completely less productive.. you can see it in the relative strength of the dollar compared to the euro.. oh wait.
"Because do you SERIOUSLY think that if we cut the work day to 7 hours instead of 8 you'll save all your/., sleeping, etc, for after work? No, you'll still do it during work."
You seriously think that the last hour of each work day is productive, or the last 4 hours on friday are productive?
I have to agree with this, I am a dedicated PC gamer with close to 200 titles lying around my house.. I want to be able to run the latest video card and have full 64 bit support for my dual core processors (to squeeze every bit of performance out of my box).. but vista just isn't there yet so I will wait..
I don't actually WANT to change my OS to use 64 bit or DX10, but eventually i won't have a choice and that's what sucks.. i'd use linux in heartbeat if it had the performance and compatibility that XP currently offers (in the way of game and driver support). I already use it for my game servers.
"Maybe I'm in the minority, but I disagree. Episodic gaming could hypothetically work a lot like Agile Programming. Shorter development cycles means quicker feedback means better products. As a gamer, you get to pay less to play better games, and potentially play a bigger breadth of games rather than being stuck with 2 or 3 $60 games. Sort of like how you can go buy singles on iTunes instead of buying entire albums when you only care for the first couple songs."
I totally agree!! I think they should take it even further.. like making new skins for your TF2 guns available for a dollar a pop, or new backgrounds for the loading screens, 10c each.. new maps? 5 bucks for a "map pack". Why complain? you're paying for content at the same rate just in smaller increments.. i'd be thrilled to play 5c per bullet in TF2 as a heavy if they did a little bit more damage!!
but still, I'm having to buy this huge bundle, "?!?
you can buy them all separately? when i pre-ordered they showed a stand alone price for episode 2.. I bought ep1 in the store for 10 bucks on sale?
I agree having to wait sucks, but wouldn't that be more indicative of not having enough resources to work on all the projects they have instead of blaming them for developing other games than the ones "you" want?
I used to play a lot of TF in the old days and pre-ordered so i'm playing TF2, it is almost a different game.. in a good way. the only map that makes it seem like the old game is 2fort, but even then with the uber charge, invis for spys, sapping, and the other game play balances it's a whole new type of play style and game feel.
sorry for the dupe post.. someone posted a google link to this in the beginning of the overall thread but when i searched prior to posting for "money is debt" i obviously didn't see the post.
"Things with wheels aren't popular in nature either, but that doesn't mean wheels aren't effective for locomotion."
Actually if you consider the varied amount of terrain, wheels are impractical, they just don't have the wealth of terrain adaptability that feet and appendages provide.. like camels or amphibians.
When i play competitive CS I notice that i get a surge of adrenaline.. it seems to make my reactions quicker and my brain race.. i usually have to step away for 30 minutes to calm down enough to sleep (when playing nights).. i like the rush and it helps me.. why would i purposely buy something to counter act this effect?
Newsflash.. intense gameplay might make you edgy? Film at 11?
"Why would you not change those over to Euros when you decided to live there?"
If he had at the time, he would have made a 2x increase in his investment. I bought some euros about 8 months ago and am just holding onto them to see how much i can make.. same with some pesos (from a cruise i took) but that's not paying off as well as the euros.:(

Good thing the cops never overstep their bounds and ONLY enforce the law. And on the off chance they did we would know about it because there would be proof.. oh wait.
or is it too soon?

Then why do several models who don't have nades have nades on their model? Like Heavy and soldier?

It's not you, it's Valve.

my 2cents.

what are you running? Runs fine for me but i have seen some servers that give me ~50 ping but incredible lag...

Which would be a valid complaint if it was parkinson's?
"Of course sarcasm is pointless. That is why nobody ever uses it."
Sarcasm is definitely NOT pointless.. often times it can help clarify... oh ok.. i see what you did there.. very cheeky.
yes it is slipstreaming, not for the faint of heart but too difficult either. you can even include drivers that you know you might need in the future.
