It's not suprising, but it's somewhat disappointing. MS was looking like they may be good to the community (and industry) for once. That didn't go far...
Most of the US government is in private corporations. NASA comes to mind as soon as I think about it, yet you don't have people complaining about the government having complete control over that.
We have the oppurtunity to get the population away from Windows. We're getting to the point that setting up a Linux distro to be usable is easier than Windows, even if you aren't a geek.
convert SQL to XQuery and others, though? If you could, it'd make porting your applications easier... Wonder how long it'll be until something out there does it.
Doesn't mean anything. To get the benefits of "open source", you have to develop using the methodology, not just slap an "open source" license on it and expect it to magickly get better.
You see people using BS buzzwords constantly in the industry where money and marketing are everything, but why in F/OSS software? That just seems counterproductive.
You gotta wonder if these will be small enough to be able to be given to people as presents to spy on them. "Wow, these are beautiful earrings! Thank You!" "No, thank YOU!"
Pretty sure he has better things to do. CSS is long since cracked, and there's still a lot of work to do involving iTunes/iTMS.

No, you'll call it inovating, they'll call it innovating :)
It's to show your aversion to cut down versions of Windows that can only run 3 processes.
I disagree. I think that they're using legalese to try and mask that they're moving away from true F/OSS. It's been happening for a while now.

People needed analysts to tell them this? Amazing...
Many distributed projects are coming about lately. Perhaps this is where many fields will be going within the next few years.
Obligatory PHP over Perl supremacy comments!

Hopefully this will usher in a new age of safer, cheaper, and more efficient space launches.
When will we see the same thing for Xandros?
An eye for an eye...
Decapitation?
that this hasn't happened earlier. Why would you fsck with SSL when you can bypass it completely?

Does anyone feel that this is just publicizing what every GOOD developer has been saying for the last 10-15 years?

Brings new meaning to "Clean up your act!"
His parents must be regretting that wording now.

I can see it now... "Can you hear me now? Damn."

Perhaps a privacy concern for the future.
I think I've played more PS1 games on my PS2 than normal PS2 games.
What was wrong with the original? Doesn't everyone like looking like they're talking into a taco?
I'd look into which has better Linux support, and which has better features, then judge based on that.
