I use incandescents in my work fixtures, because I'll easily break 3 bulbs in a weekend in the shop. I use CFLs in the house, but it would be wasteful and silly to put them in the shop.
There are some situations where an expensive bulb will be broken by a clumsy dumbass like me long before it would burn out or pay for itself.
Antivirus software isn't a solution. It might help in an MS-Blaster situation, but I've seen far too many computers loaded with spyware and trojans that have fully up-to-date antivirus software think that it will solve the problem.
It makes users more complacent, and more willing to run questionable stuff. It also tends to hurt performance. You're better off educating users to not visit porn sites and run random downloads. Maybe even install firefox, check startup items/services, and run rootkit revealer once in a while.
Telling people to buy printer cartridges from kiosks by "seeing if the employees seem cool" and "paying cash" for items that aren't in inventory also seems a bit below the board.
Well, if I make you sign a contract before selling you (the retailer) my products, either you abide by the contract or I'll sue your ass. That's how a legal system works.
Think about computers. If you want to make sure your retailers have a skilled in-store staff, setting a minimum price is the only way to protect the ones that do. If I can shop around for prices on the computer, I'll get all my information from the store with the high price / skilled staff, and then go to the dumbass store for the cheap prices.
How do you protect the skilled-staff store? Set a minimum price. That way you can make sure that the margin is good enough to support a nice retail establishment.
Charges to discard batteries? I don't know what it's like where you live, but in the free world lead is actually worth something. You get paid to discard your batteries. In fact, some people recycle lead for a living.
Websense uses packet shaping and blocks TOR directory services. You'll need an encrypted proxy to connect to tor from behind it. Having an HTTPS proxy at home helps me when I want to use the internet from behind websense at my school (I could just surf using the https proxy, but I don't want to swamp my parent's connection). They block pretty much any site that has computer topics, as they are "hacking" sites.
Seagate is the best. I've dumpster dived their drives and gotten RMAs on them!
This works with Maxtor too, because it all goes off the serial number on the drive, not the receipt!

Always assume any kids are gonna run out into the road. They often do with little warning. Slow down a bit and cover the brake.
