Do you feel that making 'games' is helpful to society? I've always wondered this. I'm not trying to be sarcastic (sorry if this limited form of communication makes me come across as such).
According to this article, Meteos is supposed to come out in North America in late April early March. I was gonna do the import thing, but will wait for the cheaper localized version since it should be coming out soon.
Another popular puzzle game out i Japan is called "One-line puzzle" for the DS. It's being brought overseas with the new name "Polarium". It's to be released on April 18th, 2005.
Meteos should be released in North America "Sometime in 2005." At least we know when we'll get polarium.
...some pretty lame crap (Clans of the alphane Moon, We can build you).
Arrgghh, I'm reading "We Can Build You" Right Now, I'm only 30 pages in, should I drop it? It's a library book, so I wouldn't be out any change.
Also, wouldn't the namesake for the Philip K. Dick Science Fiction award automatically be inducted?

The coolest part about the DS sleep mode is you just need to close it up. You don't even need to push a button! Just shut the clam up. Mario evens says 'buh bye!' in Mario 64 DS, I thought it was cool.
I have a DS, and love it, but since I've passed both mario DS and warioware (rather quickly, they were a blast!) I've gone back to reading, gasp, books! Small paperback novels are highly portable. The graphics aren't the best, but they also don't cost $250 + n x $50. Warning: batteries not included.
I doubt the reason is because of CD burning in windows. K3b is merely a frontend for the command line tools cdrecord and cdrdao, and both have been ported to Windows.
It's probably not on windows for the same reason that hardly any other KDE/QT apps are on windows. And that reason escapes me, I always assumed it's was a Trolltech QT licensing issue (which shouldn't be a problem anymore). Why is it that Gaim is available in windows but K3b is not? Why is openoffice available, but not koffice? I think this hurts the KDE apps quite a bit. GTK is getting much more coverage in windows.
Anything is possible, but what's the point?
It probably heavily relies on directx, you might as well rewrite the thing.
then again I haven't looked at it, so maybe it is worthwhile.
Are there any other comparable kits available for Linux? I know there are 3d engines, but what about a simple 2D game framework?
Reading a PKD short story is much more rewarding than an episode of Enterprise.
Stop with the blind loyalty to a 'brand'. Let's get some loyalty to quality. There weren't nearly as many people upset over the cancellation of Firefly as there are people upset over Enterprise's. Maybe if Firefly was called 'Star Trek: Firefly' people would've cared.
Don't forget that the DS also has a microphone, speakers/headphone jack, and 802.11 abilities. A lot of palm devices don't have those.
Plus, the DS has 2 screens (not sure yet if that's a good think for a PDA) and it is self protecting (it closes up like a clam), no need for a bulky carrying case.
I am quite excited!
Actually some of those screenshots look like they use YaST, the awesome configuration created by SUSE. The GPL'd it a while ago, I was wondering when other distro would finally use it. I wonder if the rest of the OS is similar to SUSE (note: SUSE is NOT that ugly). Why can't they just use the Plastik theme in KDE? It's a pretty good theme.
You're right, but then the virus definition updates are only good for two months or so. I doubt many users even understand that anti-virus software is useless without updates. Bundling trial-ware anti-virus software like that can be dangerous, people might have a false sense of security.
Yes, these are the guys that invented Kazaa. Which was an amazing app!
They then sold it too some other evil company that added more and more spyware each version.
If I'm not mistaken, the original kazaa merely had harmless ads.
Don't confuse the original kazaa with its' current beastly incarnation!
I remember my first time using kazaa/morpheus, it was quite cool.
Those guys sold kazaa and went on to develop this more legit app, and the world is better for it, I believe.
Don't forget that IBM develops products other than software. Gasp! They develop hardware too!
Hardware patents have been around as long as hardware has been around. I doubt many people here really care about them, and they aren't a threat to Open-Source software.
It's those stupid little software patents that are the issue. IBM doesn't need to give 1 patent to open-source, but 500 is more than enough to be considered 'a lot' by my books.
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If IBM wants to give you something for free, take it!
It is a good step, but I would love to see the government not renew their pricey contracts with MS. I don't want my tax dollars going to inferior software, when superior software can be used for free. And if any extra support is required, my government can pay Canadians, which helps our economy. More dollars in Canadian Linux administrator hands is better than in Microsoft hands. Microsoft is actually a drain on oour economy since they hire some of our best programmers and ship them to Redmond. There is a Microsoft Canada but it is purely business/marketing.
The engines for Quake 1 and 2 have been GPL'd. Why can't all engines be GPL'd after all the games based on them have been shipped.
It wouldn't include the games resource files (textures, sounds, maps). Just the software so that you won't have the problem of a game not playing on a new system (i.e. Duke3d not working in Windows).
It would require hackers to break Nintendo's proprietary media format. So far I haven't read any news on this front.
How long did it take for writeable media to come out for the GBA?
On the other hand, maybe we can take advantage of the DS's wireless download capability, that would be easier I think. Someone just needs to figure out Nintendo's crazy wireless protocol (just checkout www.teamxlink.co.uk to find people trying just that).
All of the poor design decisions for DX: IW were made by this guy.
Go back to QA.
Oh and if good graphics aren't important, why does DX: IW run like ass, have small levels, and a weak story + disappointing gameplay.
I'm gonna go RTFA now.

Don't forget, this is the country that passed a bill to ban trans-fats (not in effect yet).
Canada is VERY capable of stupid laws, hopefully it can't pass anything like this while there's a minority government in power.

I would think Fedora would be next up there, with it's 'exec-shield' and 'prelink' features that interfere with Cedega.
I currently use SUSE and have had no problems at all.
I did have problems getting cedega to work when I was using Fedora and then Gentoo (Gentoo wasn't as bad as Fedora though).
If you had a Mac Mini with a dock, you would likely want an Ipod then.
If you buy a dvd player with digital sound output, you're gonna want a 5.1 surround system too. And so on...
When I found out you can rip music from a CD using konquerer I nearly flipped. It was too cool!
My only question with that feature: How do you set the quality of the rip? i.e. How can I get a higher bit-rate for ripping ogg files?
If not, get this in the meantime:.

Umm... Doom3 is famously done in OpenGL.
The question developers care about is how easy is it to develop in DX vs. OpenGL. I personally have no idea though.
Is there anyone here who has done both? Is OpenGL just as 'easy' to program as DX?

Now we know what you believe in that doesn't have any proof.
