    as xbox is the ultimate media center for $115(refurb, used) to $149.99(brand new).
    as those HDTVs are able to take DVI/VGA input directly from PC.
    This thing has no future
    not to mention that this one might not support everything, at least it doesnot support rm/rmvb
    also the review site calls this $250 unit only $50 more expensive than normal dvd player, I saw dvd player from bestbuy, circuitcity, walmart as $34.99 each, I wonder how can 34.99+50=249.99

    that's a good magazine, it started in 1998 so far it's been good, and they have the attitude and dont mind about their mistakes.
    many pc magazines are not just useless, it seems they are bought by some big pc firms and writing long articles as advertisement for products instead of doing really serious reviews.

    just make good use of existing DVD space, it should be enough for HDTV, with improved new codec. blue ray doesnot seem competitive, the only thing is that those blue ray investors seem to hold a lot media on hostage against those new techonology for using DVD capacity but new codec.
    shame on them.

    IBM has some professional LCD touch screen monitor for 5M pixel a few years ago already, which need 4 video card to power(2 maxtor dual head). that was for graphic design. :D

    what do I use 2560x1600 resolution for? graphic design only? I'd rather get 2 DELL 21 LCD for $700 each and the combined resolution is much better than this apple and more practical.

    apple hasnot been ahead in tech for many years.

FX6800ultra demands 480W PSU to run, what does a dual card configuration demands? 600W PSU? with the super hot xenon CPU in the case, better put the machine in the kitchen and use it as your stoven...

    it's over, done, DVD has low resolution, compression rate is bad, open source xvid/divx can compress it to at least half size (with ac3 audio codec) and there's no noticable quality loss. all those big firms are still trying to create their "exclusive" new standard to exploit people. I'd say the IEEE should stand up and create open source standard, as it should be non-profitable and should not be manipulated by greedy companies like sony, philips same thing to HDTV, open source, or fed should regulate them out of the market

    I saw it when I was a little kid, there's one episode where an artist doing drawing on rice competes with a robot, and the robot wins, "of course". I think over population will leave us less opportunity for jobs, not the smart machines.

    btw, I pity the short life span of a pc, they got killed when they can still walk.

    My friend's old cellphone was with AT&T wireless, they got the marketing calls so bad that they have to shut off the phone most of the time. as soon as they got off the contract, they changed it to t-mobile and barely get any marketing call. my sprintpcs doesnot bother me either.
    so, I think at&t wireless deserves the hell it got.

    after doing long hours of cleaning at home, one of my finger seems to be "too smooth" after soaked in the chemical water, even I wore gloves, there's still plenty got into it, now I have 1-2 fingers which barely have any fingerprint.

    I am really worried now.

    I saw an article long time ago about how internet is ruining all the high profit companies, such as cisco, oracle, sun, since you can buy stuff eletronically, including used stuff, off-lease stuff. Also small companies can easily establish its sales channel by using the internet. in the same way, financial industry is taken a big hit since people utilize internet to learn HOWTO and make investment themselves. same here, can we just ruine those lawyers by creating internet version of HOWTO and make us as powerful as those $150/hour lawyers in court? let's ruine their lives...

    as normal PC components get smaller and cheaper, why not just let them use standard device? so that we can hook the digital tv to the internet, which will update its codec periodically in case there's something new out.

    free doesnot necessarily mean more users, it could be the opposite. the software has to be good first to gain its popularity, many people around me dont care about paying $30 for something they like.
