Since xcelent.biz is in the news I decided that it would be a reliable place to place an order for Viagara.
So went to their order site :

Now if they have a certificate then I thought they would be easily tracable, but unbeliveably the server was not secure ( I mean their server could be secured and stored in the darkest dungeons but they did not use https ). Now that gives us all a really cool incentive for using Firefox 1.0 (it shows a lock in the address bar for secured site. Of course I am still ging to stick around with IE, the automated install is simple awesome, just scroll down and you are done, no clicking on pesky warning messages and shit.
I decided to try it out on my Windows machine, so opened the link in IE. I had Win XP SP2 and an updated Norton Antivirus and the (new ) Win XP firewall on.
But the exploit worked !! I was expecting to get a pop up from NAV with an exciting alarm sound. (Un)Fortunately since it worked now I know what it does :
1) Add thw windows-update.exe in the startup folder
2) Add a new file cmd.dat to the startup folder.
Anyway since I had gone so far, I tried running the Windows-udpadte , but that gave me the error that it was not a valid exe file. I ran it in the protected moded (available when u slecet run as.. in Win XP). Then I renamed the dat file to.exe and ran that in the protected mode too. It ran !! It tried to access the internet but I hope the WinXP 2 firewall stoppped it. Anyway got sort of scared since my Win Laptop is not junk and I use it whenever I need a Laptop with standby and Powerpoint. So now I have deleted the files. Cant see any new services in the registry either so hopefully my machine isnt yet a spam mail relay. BTW if anyone else has tried it out and know about something else that should be done pls let me know. And does anyone have a clue why NAV does not detect this ?? Maybe u need to activate it for IE or make IE the default browser ???
Yes VoIP is huge, but p2p VoIP I think could even be bigger. I just started using Skype . If u thought that quality is a problem with VoIP then the Skype guys differ Here is waht they say in their FAQ

But seriously, HL was the best FPS ever when it was released, and I think it would be a lot of fun even if u play it now. However a simple fix is available , download this 1GB patch and do not blink your eyes. NO you can not blink you eyes when u run Windows, we mentioned that in the EULA didnt we ?

Castle Wolfenstein was one of the first games that showed the PC doing something (textured 3D) which hadn't already been done on the other computer systems at the time. It was the start of the PC as a gaming platform. (3D gfx cards and modular/upgradable nature of the PC being key here. I dont know if I am misinterpreting what u said but if u mean Wolf needed 3d gfx cards you are way off. Wolf, Doom (and I believe Doom2) ran strictly on CPU power, no 3d cards reqd.

Actually on a serious not I would tend to agree with u and with Jav 1.5 the performance hit is drastically reduced so maybe Doom 4 will be in Java and will run on Solaris machines.
Lets hope that this will encourage more developers to switch to OpenGL. Yeah, I know the argument abt Direct3D being better (and I agree with it) but the new ver of OpenGL might just be good enough and arent the game developers always on the lookout for ways to get the massive linux gamers market
And the fact that if u take AOL broad band (even cable) you have to run a bloated software which doesnt run on Linux just to connect. (I tried it bcos they had a 45 days free trial and I was short of money... but it was useless becos I couldnt use it on my linux machine)

I agree with the parent, Yast is undoubtly better and easier to use than the Windows AddRemove Programs , its almost the whole control panel in an intuitive interface.

And, BTW, if you use an OSS, you may *never* wait for the patch I take it that u have *always* waited for al patches till now. Dude, OSS does not make patching a piece of cake. Okay , if u are working on the kernel for a year, you could prabaly find a workaround for a bug really quickly, but then when you find a bug in OO , u spend a month getting involved with OO and then the GIMP bug comes up and then apache doesnt behave as you want it to.... So the point is, I agree that we get patches more quickly but u simply cant go around patching every prgram u use.
