Can someone please mod this down as -1, troll? Because Al Gore himself signed the Kyoto Protocol.

What I don't understand is why Wal-Mart censors things anyway. If people don't like the content, why don't they just, you know, not buy it?

  4. Screw the web searching business on Startup Webaroo to put the 'Web on a Hard Drive'? · · Score: 2, Funny

  5. Re:Just more proof that there are consequences... on Dental School Blogger Punishment Reduced · · Score: 2

Why yes, I would. Being vulgar is no reason to expel a student! "Freedom of Speech" and "Freedom of Expression" don't mean "Freedom of Speech for everything except what I don't like." That's the consequence for having freedom: people are free to do a bunch of mean, nasty, vulgar, and vile shit.

As far as "free speech without consequences", another poster spelled it out nicely. If free speech does not mean free speech without consequences, then every government ever in existence has had free speech. After all, you are free to say whatever you want in communist China, you just have to be prepared for the consequences!

Mario Kart, 4 levels? Goldeneye, extremely short? What kind of fantasy world is this? Not only are those inaccurate pieces of information, but you're talking about two games that had enormous replayability. They fit Super Smash Bros. on an N64 cartridge, and I can't even estimate how many countless hours my cartridge was used.

  9. Re:Amend the constitution? on Stiffer Penalties for Copyright Violations · · Score: 1

Because in order to amend the constitution, two thirds of the House and two-thirds of the Senate has to vote for the amendment. With virtually most of Congress already in their pockets, what member would vote to stop their own flow of funds? It's pretty much impossible.

  11. Re:Dynamic threading on Designer on Slashdot Overhaul Plans · · Score: 1

Kuro5hin comment threading is the same as slashdot's, except for one major catch: newest threads and replies are shown above older replies. So it would be something like this:

    *STORY*

    -Newest comment

    -Comment from 2 minutes ago
          |
          Newer Reply
          |
          First Reply

    -Comment from 10 minutes ago

    & etc.

And I have to agree with the GP, dynamic threading is a nice feature. I just click on the arrow to unfold, read the reply, and then click again to roll the comment back up. It's orders of magnitude easier to follow conversations that way. They tend not to get buried, unlike /.'s.

Oh, and leaving the subject field blank forces people to describe what their comment is about. How am I supposed to know what comments are interesting if they all say "Re: I don't think so"?

RAmen to that, brother. I guess that whole emphasis on fighting terrorism and keeping Americans safe was just for show - the real battle is the battle of the sexual deviants!

Either that, or the Justice Department has a new plan to protect the Homeland: by turning the U.S. into a socially suffocating clone of an Islamic Republic, Bin Laden won't have any reason to attack us at all! Three cheers for their heroic insight!

  13. Sun knows exactly who they're marketing to on Sun's Bold New Ad Campaign · · Score: 5, Funny

That porno-mag style interview with the SunFire server near the fire place is very interesting - more proof that porn and technology go hand in hand. What kind of website would reliable, beefy server hardware be more suited to than a pr0n operation?
