I think it's great. It's got the best aspects of Castlevania and Metroid in there along with an interesting way to power-up your various weapons. Controls haven't been an issue for me as it recognized and mapped my Gravis Gamepad Pro automagically. This game is seriously fun, deep, and addictive. What more could you ask for?
Hey let's make it in 3D and TOTALLY ruin it! No thanks.
For immediate family and close friends I give them one hour free and 25 bucks per hour thereafter for house calls. Also, they are required to buy me either beer or food.
For anyone else they are charged 40/hour flat for housecalls and 25/hour if they drop it off.
They'll never scrounge up the money to do this. I hope the contigency plan is to give what money they do collect to a legitimate and worthwhile charity.
The street names they used were all Chicago streets. They even used proper intersections. The incoming subway train said "LOOP." That is the name of the downtown business area of Chicago. All of our subways/els head inward towards the "loop" and their sign shows it exactly like the movie. I'm not sure if there is another city that uses that name, but I've been all over the world and I've never seen another example of it.
Also, the Wachowskis are from Chicago.
It was shot in Sydney, but anyone from Chicago would know it was set here. Just like many movies that take place in Chicago are often shot in Toronto. The only reason they shot it in Sydney is because they could do it there on the cheap since Daley has run show-biz out of town.
Of course, Google already has such a service at Google Answers and I think the service and the business model is actually quite innovative. Too bad Google barely even markets it and the average person isn't really aware of what the service really is or what it does.
Too bad brother. Xenogears is one of the best console RPG's of all time. Unlike those abominations that are glomming off it's name for the PS2 called Xenosaga.
Your ideas intrigue me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter...
Seriously though, how robust a system do I need to do this? Does it emulate every game you've tried perfectly or what? any lag? response time from usb controller alright?
i've never ever gotten a personal email asking me if i want to opt out, so i set up a filter to block anything that has the word "unsuscribe" in it. worked out well.
I have to disagree with this one. I run a complete/updated virus/spyware scan about once a month. I usually have zero virii and probably about 1-6 spyware apps running, but nothing too bad. usually just a few cookies I didn't want and something like alexa toolbar my girlfriend probably let through by accident. I consider my myself tech savvy and my machine is pretty well locked down from the outside world unless I explicitly let something through.
On the other hand, whenever a friend or family member asks me to "fix" their computer, I usually find out their computer is nigh-unusable due to the LITERALLY thousands of spyware apps running on their computers. Totally infested with any number of virii and trojan is par for the course as well. When I say unusable, I mean it too.
Broadband for the masses has not been an altogether good thing. Much of my family/friends don't actually need it, because all they do is check their email once a day and surf sites like nytimes.com anyway, but they have it anyway and now claim not be able to live without it. These same users are completely unaware of windowsupdate.com and have only the vaguest (if any) understanding of what a firewall is.
It's these users that spyware and virii target. It's not even tech savvy anymore. These people just click through things without paying attention to what it says/does. These users are much less "tech-savvy" than they are "observationally ignorant."
I was lucky to never get stuck with one of those POS Compaqs. I got a Thinkpad when I started at AA and thus started my love affair with the eraser-mouse. I'd use a keyboard with an eraser mouse on my desktop machine if I wasn't too lazy to google for one.
Seriously though, the Thinkpads were/are a great line, but I've never heard of Levono so I guess I'll have to start looking for alternatives. Anyone got a suggestion (not Dell, Gateway, or Compaq)?
They bought a brand, they didn't buy a story. This movie is not being made with us, the geeks, in mind. It is being made for money, nothing else and they will exploit our (semi) beloved franchise any way they see fit in order to maximize their cash-earning potential. What it basically boils down to is a few game-inspired character models, set design, and the logo and cred that go along with the "Doom" logo/title.
my nomad has this ability right out of the package. even easier using the notmad software. i only wish xp would recognize it as a drive to REALLY make it easy.
Is it just me or does that website look like it's from 1998? It has a bad color scheme, confusing links, blinking gifs (we all love those!) and for some reason there is embedded quicktime in there somewhere. It really reminds me of the geocities site my little sister made like 8 years ago. hers was nicer though.
I've had spam emails that were better put together than that website. Oh the ironing!
Firing your employee is one thing. I probably would seriously consider it as well, considering the security risk. Calling him names in a public forum is quite another. At the very least, Matt Hayes should be fired himself. Also, restitution should be given to the fired employee in the form of a lump sum payment or his job back. A public apology is also absolutely necessary.
As a former employee of both Arthur Anderson and Accenture, I'd like to point out the blatant falsehood of this statement. AC started out as a consulting branch of AA, but when it started making too much money AA wanted to scale it back. The partners at AC decided it would be best to just split from AA completely and paid AA a large sum of money to do so. The terms of the agreement would be that AC would have to change their name (it was a branding issue). the reason they went with Accenture was purely technical. they felt it would be too much money to completely overhaul all their systems over something so simple as a name, hence the Anderson Consulting, a.k.a. AC, was lengthened to Accenture.
this happened around 1998. LOOOONG before the AA scandal.
Oh please oh please finally make Clam Digger.

actually, it was Chicago.
Profit perhaps? Don't forget, it's a business.
Everyone is discussing it's portability to linux, it's GPL licensing, or the funny way they are handling the art. What I would like to know is this.
is the game fun? is it worth downloading/installing?

I have a separate email address that I use solely for mailing lists.
haha my bad, i meant unsubscribe. i thought we were above such corrections here on /.?

I hope they don't turn it into a 3d pseudo-adventure piece of cow-flop that is riddled with repetitive mini-games.
