"they might be more likely to do business with other Freemasons"
How does that differ from any other social, church, or civic group? You know these people better than you know some random person in the Yellow Pages, so it makes sense to go with the safer option.
I can assure you this isn't standard fare for the US military. Unfortunately, there's been a wealth of bad apples that have been getting all the press for almost a decade.
If true, as a vet, I find the Marines' behavior unprofessional and embarrassing to the uniform. I can only hope an investigation occurs, and if guilty, that the Marines responsible are made an example of.
Saddam was a shitbag, but that doesn't mean we need to lower our moral standards and professionalism.
It should be noted by those of us who still vividly remember, that Mafiaboy and YTcracker were relatively skill-less script kiddies, not hackers. Back then, at least.
I know that Microsoft says there's no difference officially. However, independent tests (Google them) and my own personal tests indicate that 2008 is still superior in performance. The independent tests done reflect the same experiences.
Forget morons like Toben who offer broad generalizations without actually clicking on the link for the item they're ranting against.
Consider this a second for NerdKits. They're great. You get a great project book with simple but solid theory, a bread board, and a sandwich bag full of components and wiring.
I carried an iPod 20GB to the summit of Rainier (>14000ft) and several other >10000ft peaks, with frequent manual song changes. No problems, the damned thing still runs and still holds a battery charge.
ZFS is in the WWDC Leopard build. It's currently configured for read-only, although full functionality is in there. Write ability is disabled for stability/integrity issues./System/Library/Extensions:

1. Weber just seriously damaged Microsoft's relationship with the community. 2. Weber was way, way out of line. 3. Weber should be dismissed. 4. This incident has made me doublethink our decision of going to ASP.NET for in-house app development. 5. Yet another reason not to get locked into proprietary software.
Microsoft probably factored in Volume Licensing/Software Assurance customers into this to fudge their numbers. Just because a license is bought, or "bought" doesn't mean that people are flocking to Vista. In fact, I see quite the opposite in the IT sector.
We haven't missed jack shit. You're missing the fact that "unlimited" should reasonably mean "unlimited", not 5GB a month. And it's not insane for a cell phone when you consider the most popular data applications for cell phones are streaming music and video.
- PalmOS beats WM hands down when it comes to human interface
- Most Windows Mobile devices I've used have just plain sucked. Crappy battery life, constant crashes and lags and other problems. However, I recently switch to a Treo 700wx and I must say its not plagued with any of these common WM problems. It's stable, has a battery life that doesnt seem to differ much from my old 700p, and just overall works really, really well. Maybe the stuff I blamed on WM isn't WM's fault at all and lies with poor vendor integration?
For a real life comparison, they are like the Air Force with air conditioned, reinforced tents in "war" rather than the Marines left to cover up with whatever they might, their jackets, a rock... anything but no air conditioner.
Uhm, I don't know what country's Air Force you're talking about, but you're an idiot of you're referring to the USAF. I never saw an air conditioned, reinforced tent anywhere.
I understood all of it. What exactly are you bitching about then? The page you reference doesn't mention ANY of the capabilities you want. Auto-Sync is one way.

" It also bothers me that it's so pervasive."
Can you elaborate?
Welcome to R&D-Ain't-Free-Istan, where R&D ain't free and companies need to recup their costs. Wait a while, the price will drop.

The state of Linux filesystems may be in disarray, but it's nothing to kill your wife over...

When will submitters like ScuttleMonkey RTFA they are submitting?
NetFlix isn't coming to the AppleTV version of Boxee, as the AppleTV is not powerful enough, as TFA states.
So wait, you want net neutrality, but you don't like this so-called "vigilantism"?
Does. Not. Compute.
I'm sure the US government would love to help you (along with other private interests)

labmonkey09 is dead on. Turn off your TV and stop parroting everything it tells you about the "real world".
One thing labmonkey09 forgot to mention is that critical thinking skills are in fact taught during basic.

They're wrecking their own lives with lack of discipline, responsibility, and control over their impulses and addictions.
There are plenty of WoW players who lead perfectly healthy and balanced lives. (I am not one of them, I find video games rubbish)
