but now I know. It IS those damn virus protectors making the viruses. I always said if there weren't any viruses the virus protectors would be out of business and they wouldn't allow it. This is the proof.
Tethered means it's on my computer. Well let's see: 1> I have a cable connection so downloading isn't a hassle 2> I don't tape any of my shows off tv to keep for good. I'd rather support them and do the legal thing, buy the series. 3> $10AU/month is a hell of a lot cheaper then $80AU/month 4> You can get whatever you want (provided it's available).
This can be a good deal for some people. It isn't for everyone, but I know I'd be tempted to subscribe (provided non-USians can subscribe and provided I could find out what it has available before hand).
A quick google shows that if something is tethered then the comapny can distribute certain copyrighted material to people, they just can't take it off their computer (legally anyway, technically they possibly can). Some companies (such as Napster) use this system, but have to have an agreeance with the copyright holders to do so.
I agree. The Mozilla Firefox spam filter works great for me. I no longer go to all those goatse sites that people link to thanks to the plugin:) But I have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling it, because after 2 days it says slashdot is spam.
I haven't RTFA (I'm not too interested), but I did see there was VOICE CONTROLLED vision, blah blah blah. Are they insane? I wouldn't want anything to be voice controlled in a plane. What if the pilot starts getting a cold? Something causes his voice to change. I don't see why anything needs to be voice controlled anyway, especially something that helps the pilot see!
Don't think an iPod can be a tool for learning? How many song lyrics do you know reasonably well? Tens, hundreds, thousands? Why is that? Partly because the rhythm and meter of the music forms a repetitive framework in which you can fit the words. But mainly because you listen to ones you like over and over again.
If your logic is people will listen to lecture notes again and again I figure perhaps you need to be modded funny?
I can see how you would come to that idea, but people listen to songs again and again because they like the music, not because they have an iPod. At the moment iPod's are a fad. But if that's the idea the university had, they're insane and it won't work.
My first response was WHY would anyone want this (not including students)?
Then it hit me. Apple wants it because 1. They've made a profit. 2. If this catches on they can tap into people they otherwise wouldn't have.
The university wants it because now they can say to future people considering which university to go to "look our cool and high-tech we are."
Win-win for everyone.
these are the voyages of the fast-food chain McDonalds. It's continuing mission, to explore new countries, to create a race of fat people, to go boldly where no fast-food chain has gone before.
I remember hearing about them doing this (or at least something very very similar) on the radio a couple of months ago. And that was Australian radio, I always thought Australia was the last place news reached.
Did they re-do the experiment/is it something new? Or is slashdot the last place news reaches?
ends when all the people I don't like are dead.

Quitting smoking is a fight against disease, not tobacco farmers.
Says who? I hope those stinking tobacco farmers rot in hell.
You can even sign up with fake e-mail addresses, such as John@John.com or Bill@thisisntreal.com whatever you want ;)
How does this matter? It's neat, but it's something I'd expect in my inbox from my annoying friends, not on slashdot.
this was marked a troll because he only has a picture of North America and is being elitist. Right? Right?

To get around this spammers will use DNA algorithms to create spam that gets around the blockers ;)

I read that as "I did a good search and can't find anything about it. It is a NSCSA Mosaic enhancement?"
because his Karma on slashdot is a heavy issue on his mind.
