  1. But doesn't OnePlus also "spy" on users as well? on Windows 10 Ported To OnePlus 6T Smartphone (androidpolice.com) · · Score: 2

Who wins that race? Or is it being joined together?

    See https://www.howtogeek.com/3401... and https://elgan.com/blog/why-i-d...

So, now we get Microsoft's public telemetry info being sucked from Windows 10 machines or phone-based platforms? http://investmentwatchblog.com... which includes:
    - Typed text on keyboard sent every 30 minutes
    - Transmits anything you say into a microphone
    - Transcripts of things you say while using Cortana
    - Index of all media files on your computer
    - When your webcam is first enabled, 35mb of data
    - Telemetry data

I'm a OnePlus phone owner (prior to all of this being disclosed), but even I'm considering not getting another one. I can't begin to imagine piling Windows 10 on top of it!

  4. Possibly worse than reported - sniffing HDMI traff on Android TV Update Puts Home-Screen Ads On Multi-Thousand-Dollar Sony Smart TVs (arstechnica.com) · · Score: 1

We have a Sonia Bravia 65" smart tv. I reluctantly attached it to the internet for updates.

I don't watch much TV, but my wife does.

I rented 2 DVD's recently, Creed and Avengers: Infinity War.

My wife is watching her full-blown stream of solved/unsolved murder investigation programs and she starts yelling at me about Jason Momoa's picture and ad promotion of Aquaman that keeps popping up on the entire screen every 5 minutes.

I have no idea what the heck she's talking about, but I was taking heat for what kept interrupting her tv watching. She was truly annoyed, and I correctly surmised that ad's were being injected, but didn't know by who. But the correlation to "super hero movie ads" and my rare use of the TV for watching action/super hero movies makes me wonder if HDMI traffic from the DVD player is being tracked as well.

I'm seriously upset about this ad injection crap, and I'm about to try factory refreshing this tv and removing any semblance of internet connection from it.

Sony, your bed-buddy choice is going to make you some serious enemies that your ad revenue isn't going to replace.

Stay. Out. of. OUR. TV. Viewing. Choices.

  10. Painting trumps face on the asteroid on Deflecting an Asteroid Will Be Harder Than Scientists Thought (upi.com) · · Score: 1

SUBJECT: ASTEROID DEFLECTION - POTUS IMAGERY
    CLASSIFY: NOFORN/REPEYESONLY

Analysts have determined that a cost effective method of asteroid deflection would be to simply paint Donald Trump's image on to an asteroid.

While counterintuitive to the casual observer, we believe this course of action will lead to an accelerated program by liberal factions within congress to approve expedited funding for an expedition to remove an incoming asteroid by any means necessary, including nuclear detonation.

While opposition to nuclear payloads have been exhibited by liberal opponents over fears of nuclear proliferation for space programs, we believe this will incite an immediate reaction that will override any prior objections and bring about a desired outcome for delivery of a nuclear device into space. Once launched, a hidden pod will be launched to deliver a 5 gallon container of white paint to a portion of the "face" that would correspond to acne, and a 5 gallon container of black paint in proximity to an "eye" that was previously painted on the asteroid, with a highly reflective metallic "Banksy" logo additionally placed therein.

The delivery of these two paint containers would result in multiple objectives:
    - Photos of the resulting asteroid will increase Banksy's street cred, destabilizing art markets overseas as his work is driven to astronomical pricing levels (yes, pun intended)
    - Liberal factions will direct their attention to a "greater good" message of intergalactic grafitti whereby the deflected asteroid will be advertising a more desireable message as it continues it's path throughout the solar system, with a recurring embarrassing message long after Trump's demise.
    - Color and reflection disparities will cause a distortion in the planned trajectory and actually cause the asteroid to miss earth.
    - A nuclear warhead is parked in space for optional use later.
    - Trump will be assuaged in knowing he will be "immortalized" through the intergalactic, er trans solar-system art work.
