Art: The ability to convince people to pay upwards of thousand dollars for a canvas with some paint (usually scattered in a random fashion) that took you fifteen minutes to do.
Buildings are art yet the building primarily serves a purpose other than being art (e.g. housing). Games can be art despite existing for another purpose primarily. Or would you say those are only art when their purpose is none other than just being art? Don't artworks usually have a purpose (entertain, teach, represent, etc), too?
There's roughly 280 million people in the US, there are less than one million users on Slashdot. Even if no Slashdot user bought it that number would be quite attainable.
The content is actually addictive and will override the rational mind, so there's a feedback loop going on that causes peeople to seek out the content more and more. Thus, people can't learn to avoid this content themselves because any exposure might cause them to potentially lose the ability to choose not to seek out the content. I can't really think of any informational version of this off the top of my head, but it's the rationale used for banning addictive drugs.
It's still 8 pieces of hardware per shipped console. Even counting the included cables (1x TV hookup, 1x power) and controller only gives you 6 pieces of hardware for a console with 2 memcards and 2 controllers, the average punter will have less than that (and quite a bit of 3rd party gear that doesn't count for Sony).
Noone acts out what they just saw in a videogame unless they're plain retarded and should have been removed from the gene pool long ago. The danger of violent media is the change of your mindset that occurs. I'd say in that matter games are the least dangerous medium because they show pretty unlikely situations. What does a game teach you? That shooting the enemy in a war is good? Well, duh. That's what your drill sergeant is telling you, too. That you'll get a cash bonus if you pull off a stunt with a stolen car? Please, who's going to believe that? Now compare that to modern "gangsta" culture which teaches people that violence fits into your everyday life (as opposed to the unrealistic scenarios found in games).
Personally I consider any form of documentary-looking propaganda the most dangerous medium possible. It makes you think you know something. But what you know is a well-crafted lie designed to make you think in a certain way. In games that's not going to happen because games don't depict real happenings but virtual worlds that aren't identical to reality. And because any attempts at "educating" the user are fairly obvious since games aren't supposed to tell you more than the mechanics of the game (which only apply to the game).
Which would you rather hand your children, Grand Theft Auto or Mein Kampf?
Do you know how many people have asked Zonk not to keep posting stories about some subject for the last few months?
My request is this. Don't be dismissive of the other two consoles until we know what the Rev is actually like to play.
You probably want to say "don't praise the Rev before you know more" because I think it's quite possible to dismiss the X360 and/or PS3 without knowing anything about the Rev. You don't need to have an alternative when dismissing consoles, the conclusion "this genreation sucks, I'll dig out my Mega Drive again" is valid.
Nintendo doesn't use the full hardware capabilities of a system unless the game requires it. Maybe they'll add a few polygons and texels to their games but I doubt we'll see much of a difference to the GC titles.
FF: Crystal Chronicles: an action hack'n'slash. Might just about pass as an action-RPG, but even that's pushing it. Manages to be lightweight and shallow even compared to the BG: Dark Alliance games, which is really saying something.
Fire Emblem: Ditto
Unless that refers to "not an RPG" only, that's a gross misrepresentation. Fire Emblem is a strategy RPG, it's MUCH deeper than almost all jRPGs on the market.
By the way, his list ignores Paper Mario and Baten Kaitos.
I think when console gamers talk about RPGs they mean Rail Playing Games like Final Fantasy. Out of your list Tales Of Symphonia is the only one to fit that bill. Zelda is an action adventure (more emphasis on the gameplay/puzzles and lots of action, neglecting story), FF:CC too. Fire Emblem is a tactics RPG, that's closer to a war sim than an RPG.

The Phoenix Down is worthless anyway. What do you need a potion that cures unconsciousness for in RL?

You probably buy them from the counter. I doubt they're available in the US, though.

Um... Evercrack?
I agree, but I have not seen a game with porn in it (not since nudie tetris).
You are not looking hard enough.
Unlocked by compromising game data? Is Microsoft liable for adware that makes IE show porn popups?
How about manning positions with bots automatically but those bots don't get any skill upgrades and are just enough to keep the system operational?
Really? I seem to remember there being a lot more ground (or inside spaceships) than space combat in Star Trek.

I thought the manufacturer is supposed to shrinkwrap these things?
Does any country have a book rating system (that isn't religiously motivated)?

if i want to play gba i'll just use my gba.
And if you want to play MAME?
Wait, you're putting a CPU meant for embedded systems into a server?

You mean Catacombs 3D.

I really doubt it's that difficult for MS to satisfy demand, they'll probably meet it within two or three months (most likely much quicker).

These pages are so small, the sidebar (the one with the page index) is longer! Shit, you can really overdo it.
Because the XBox 360 could run a virtual Mac Mini and still have enough CPU left to play Quake 3?
Who's using a screensaver on a CRT? The power saving function is good enough and turning the monitor off when you don't need it works even better.
