Slashdot itself, I don't think is a major advocate, and even if it was, it is the owners and editors opinion.

I see people who would bash Kerry or Bush on thier own respefctive websites, and though I may not like thier ideas, they have the right to say them, I just dont go to those websites. You have to put up with people when it comes to a point like this.

I do not know whether it was the comments or the actual articles that has caused you to question this but hopefully you realize they are jnot forcing you to change(unlike the patent offices recommendations to go exclusively to IE)Personally i think all websites should be required to be open to every browser.

#1 i do not believe a tax on recordable cd's is anywhere in the future due to the nature of software companies and that they are more commonplace then ever. I do believe this is the next desperate move by the RIAA to pin lagging sales, artists moving to or starting up thier own labels that arent under the riaa, and the fact that even after all of the P2P programs were basically rendered null, their profits are still shoddy. The next step in thier program is tobegin more and more copyright protection. With each new wave of protection placed on the disks, people will find more ways to crack them. The RIAA has gotten themselves into a losing and viscious cycle.
I do not remember whom said it but i think the best quote to cover this is.." A liar, when confronted with facts, 78% will lie to back up the original lie"

In my opinion what has caused us to stall so much is Big Business. Yes they have led to some great innovations, just think how much they have stifled by having people sign contracts that "any innovations and ideas you come up with during your course of working here belong to said business" This is why I love google and their pet projects idea. While we have come a long way, we could have gone so much further if not for Big Business shutting out ideology. Look how many times the oil industry has shut out innovation due to their "investments". I sincerely believe that it is due to the oil industry why we are not using cleaner and more efficient cars today. We see articles such as the car getting 250mpg, yet an industry with millions of workers could not come up with this first. We must let imagination be free, and must get big business out of politics before we can see innovation change!

No where in the Fedex policy does it say that the boxes are only to be used for shipping so they are screwed on that note..He is not charging people to see the sight, nor is this a business, therefore using the boxes in the way he did is perfectly legal(with the basis that the boxes are used as artwork)The dmca should never have came up with this legal standing as it does not work. Any judge should laugh this out of court, but unfortunately since fed ex is big business it will probably mean the end of the site, with defamation charges against this guy and court costs+lawyers fees+restitution...

Things like national ID card and Patriot Act come to mind on why we should force this process..Sure it might take a bit longer but i guarantee that bills that should not be passed that ride on coattails, would not be passed..Like they said about the National ID card, its guaranteed since it was coattailing on the back of a wartime spending bill...That my 1 cent...wheres my change!

Plain and simple, for services to work correctly, you cannot have 50 different companies stringing wires, cables, pipes in major cities, there is not enough room. This is the reason why companies like SBC have had to lease out thier lines to the competition at a mandated low lease rate. To be fair in business practice, i think that both businesses should be labeled as both telecommunication/information services and that they should both be required to lease thier lines to other companies at mandated lease rates such as what SBC must due right now. Then and only then will you see true competition in the marketplace. oh and far as getting satellite, there are quite a few people who cannot receive satellite tv for numerous reasons(Apartment complex will not allow satellites due to liability. This was pushed on them by insurance carriers.)By making this argument you are showing that you have not looked enough into the situation to provide any useful information Anonymous Coward
